You shouldnt need to add marks it should do it for you. Like often when you go near mote nodes, they actually do appear on map temporarliy.
They need to fix the compass tracker big time and increase the range.

Worrying about a mini-map when your game is in the final stages of tanking. Typical AGS prioritizing right there.

when u just starting playing NW map is bad no sht but when u play since start and they remove it… idk its just about to make life harder when noone wants to play at all… not a deliberate decision

Well, so if map is not working any more there is any point to play that broken buggy game. It was last one thing which worked fine. No than k you amazon you dont know what dies mean to hear players or do good games
close the game, close overwolf and curseforge completely, run overwolf, open game, map will work again. had the issue myself and found the solution somewhere on there page i dont remember where but it worked for me

If you can’t play with the regular compass find an alternative way. If you get banned for it. Well, sucks.

Forcing? Don’t think so. I want folks to play the game the way the Devs designed it. If an overlay map is the way to go, they should include it. We either all use it or we all don’t. I don’t care either way.

Yeah well they trashed the minimap, meanwhile we can’t mark our own in game maps for things we find (stupid) and the compass does not work for me…Basically ever. If I want to relog every time it doesn’t work I’d be relogging like every 5 mins…kind of ridiculous.

Having not given it much thought yet I am wondering if this might not be a good compromise.
If the in-game map didn’t suck completely, I wouldn’t have to use the mini map.
I literally stood a couple feet from a node, and it didn’t show up for like 5 seconds as I was running towards it. I can visibly see a node for longer time it takes for the compass to show up.
Yet, if I am running through a zone, and I come past some Herbs, they stay on the map for a long long long time until you go harvest them.
I can be half way across the zone and the map still shows the icon for the Herbs I ran past.
If the compass worked better, updated more reliably, I wouldn’t get so frustrated. I never look at the compass anymore, because it shows me nothing besides a rabbit/turkey/deer/wolf/buffalo/lynx 80ft. away from me.
It’s cool it tracks animals and all, but if I could just get some better way of displaying the nearby herbs that don’t stack icons on icons on the compass… wait, that’s called a mini-map…

It would make sense. You go to a place and are like “oh sweet iron here” next day …where was the iron I saw yesterday? I could have sworn it was right here…—you shouldn’t have to memorize everything ( if browser maps weren’t a thing) its ridiculous to expect someone to.

I have a memory like swiss cheese.
I went to a spot that I swear had wyrd trees. I wandered around in circles till I ran into a player I knew who said they’d chopped those earlier. So even when I had guessed the right spot I was still confused. 
I agree, all this is doing is making me use the phone app and putting my phone below my screen. The compass is terrible, if it worked as intended MAYBE it would be enough but as it is I will ALWAYS see a node visually before the compass shows its location.

The compass tracker seems to be going off way more regular now to the point I have to regularly log off and on again. People say its fixed in PTR but I have no idea.
