Patch / Event 14/12/2021

I’m not looking for them to tell me what they had for breakfast and has been covered numerous times in this thread we were asking for better communication processes in regards to things like this.

There are a lot of low population servers that survive by community events and we have to schedule people just to get a single OPR to pop that day. This is what keeps our server alive right now. The event being cancelled is not a surprise and honestly encouraged, I don’t want to be the first server merged after they release a brand new event that was untested in the prior merges.

These people who’s time is being spent organizing these events would have liked some small amount of communication to update the community and postpone plans accordingly.

Complete silence on a missed timeline that they set (accidently) just confused the player base and went against what they have been pledging to be better at → Communication ←

I want them to release a good Winter event, not a broken Christmas event that also causes my server merge to duplicate everyone into a Yeti.

See we can all do wall of texts around here

If they do 4 worldsets/day + several days to fix their fails… we get the patch in february (if you dont need new server merges after that)

I´ve tried to be positive, but it starts to being annoying. Don´t know why they´re so slow if they´ve created a worldset system at the beginning which should be to be optimized to merge servers faster. I also dont understand how difficult is it to bring some new items, some new monsters and some new ui elements without game killing bugs/exploits.

Choosy beggar? You realize everyone posting here is a paying customer? We are not beggars.

Knocking it out of the park , you got to be fin kidding me. Only things these devs are good at is blowing smoke up bezo ass.

Agreed. Instead of complaining about not getting the pixel toys NOW, how about remembering the point of the season - holiday spirit, and good will to fellow people.

I just hope that next update won’t happen in highest population hours… and Europe will get the patch at night.

It seems you also do extremly selective reading. Most people don’t complain about the event itself. Heck they can cancel it alltogether, I don’t care about that. The complete silence about anything is the basic problem. The event is just the last example in a long series. And no I don’t need every little detail. But it is common sense to share the basic informations.

Many of those people you describe as toxic only became that because they don’t talk at all and not the other way around. For a long time there were many content-related discussions without any toxicity and friendly questions for a dev to comment or an explanation. In the betas there was at least some interactions from them. Now they ignored every single one of them for a long time.

At least it seems that @Luxendra saw that we linked her old promise posts in this thread. But calling “not today” their promised weekly statusupdate about the content und the timeline of the next updates is stretching it to much.

Is it so hard to say: Sorry guys mergers have more priority so poeple can play over the holidays instead of a content update. But no they stay silent, trickle out new server mergers every few days and stoke up the fires instead of extinguish them.

And here you are changing everything you were saying. You say they ignore you people, yet if you played the PTR you would notice all the changes everyone complains about. Guess what, didn’t need the forums to notice that. Is it so hard to notice they do put in work and listen? Or do you choose to ignore them and claimed to be ignored? Is your victim mentality that strong?

You shouldn’t need a post to tell you everything, and demanding one or creating a whole line of forums just over something so trivial such as information you already know is pointless. I doubt you need to tell everyone basic information when you’re in the middle of a difficult choice. The reason why you people are toxic is because you didn’t even wait until today to create this forum, you made it a day before the date they had on the PTR dev. blog. So where’s your common sense? You say they need to have “common sense to share the basic informations” yet you don’t have the patients or common sense to get the information.

So I’ll ask my question you still refuse to answer, would you communicate with people like yourself who refuse to listen? No matter what they put, no matter what they do you’re never happy. You come to the forums and complain over trivial things that don’t matter. If you didn’t care for the event then why complain? Because there was a date on a PTR dev. blog, that’s childish. Because they didn’t put something right away after removing that date, maybe because they believed they could still follow it but removed it just incase they couldn’t and would put a new forum later. They more or less didn’t know themselves, yet here you people are complaining over nothing the day before. And why is it nothing? because you’ve already admitted you don’t care.

You say I selectively read, no I read everything, and all I see is an adult child crying about nothing. If you changed your winter break for this, that’s on you. If you got your hopes up and can’t accept problems could come up, again on you. Blaming them for not posting “basic informations” is just a reason to complain. Maybe you shouldn’t do so, and that leads to another question, if you don’t trust the words of the devs. if you believe they’re ignoring you, why even make a forum? You can’t answer that because it goes against your whole argument. Ether they’re listening and you refuse to accept that, or you’re complaining because you have nothing else to do.

You people contradict yourself and that’s why this forum is pointless. You choose to remain ignorant and not see they are listening. And like I said I want to proof they don’t listen, not through forums but through their game. People want server merges, here they are doing server merges. People wanted crafting gear to not be effected by Expertise, crafting gear, quest gear and faction gear isn’t effected by Expertise and gear bought through the market is met in the middle based on your expertise and it’s gear score.

You people are so busy playing victim you don’t see they’re listening, just because there isn’t a forum the moment they change a PTR forum, that doesn’t mean you need to go to arms. So explain to me, what point are you making? Do you need forums for you life as well? Careful you might get into a car accident. A problem coming up after those patch notes were released is unpredictable, they probably tried to get the update to us yesterday yet you guys complained the day before.

So what are the points you’re making? They’re not posting enough forums, well how many forums will you need to be happy? Is your point that they don’t tell you “basic informations” for things you already know, why should they post things you already could of guess? Is it that they change PTR fourms and you expect them to keep the date because you planed on that date? You make no valid points, it’s just you people complaining about the little things. What’s more important, this game bouncing back to be more enjoyable or them communicating through forums? The forums can come later after their game is more stable, they’re not important right now. Sure they’re nice and could use work, but saying they’re ignoring everyone when their updates and PTR say other wise proves it’s not them ignoring you, it’s you ignoring them.

Make more valid points, I can tell you right now you’ve made none. I see what you’re saying, but you refuse to see what is being done. Their forums are not the end all be all right now, they need to focus on making their game better, not post forums about basic information we more or less can guess ourselves. They will give us a date when things are ready, and bet your ass it will be a forum. Just be patient, crying about such a small thing means you’re being toxic and/or ignorant.

If people can’t use common sense they need to get off the internet, it’s that simple. If your form of communication is forums then I pity you. You say this brought out confusion? A lot of people I know don’t even look at forums, maybe about 20%-30% of players go to forums, others go to YouTube channels to review forums or for news if they update is delayed. If people are so easily confused then I pity them. It seems like more people are disappointed about the update not worried about communication outside of the forums.

On top of that, people are complaining about this update a day before they could even communicate, so explain that. But I’ll ask you this, what’s more important, a forum telling you something you figured out on your own, or them fixing their game? Their communication is clear, working on the game instead of post forums. Forums can come after their game has more to offer and something to bring people back. Making a forum just to complain about an update when they’re trying to future proof their game is pointless. One step at a time, we rushed them to release the game, the least we can do is be patient to fix their game.

The winter event wasn’t the only thing coming with this update. As of testing it’s been testing for about two weeks now on the PTR, they’re changing a lot of the game. The server merges gave them more of a problem then they thought, so they put this update on the back burner thinking it could of still came out yesterday. After they realized it couldn’t, they made a post roughly around 6pm PST(my time zone US west), that it won’t be released on the 14th. This forum was made on the 13th, how could they communicate if they thought they could still do what was promised. So explain to me, how would you communicate that? Would you try to get the update out and post a forum about the update or would you try and if you couldn’t post a forum about it after you tried to get it ready saying it will be delayed?

They’re communicating fine, what more would you people want? They’re trying to make the game better, not make mistakes like this where you people go savage and complain they don’t communicate. Also, nice try but you have more of fence of text, too well spaced out and small sentences. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’m not even trying to argue to be honest, just to me this is all pointless. What is being done through this but dividing players who need to join together? The forums aren’t important right now, you even said it yourself, you want a good winter event not a broken Christmas event. So why complain about communication when they’re communication through their updates by showing us they listen to what we want? Crafting gear, quest gear and faction gear isn’t effected by expertise. We’re getting server merges, they’re adding anti heal so heavy armored healer staffs aren’t op, we get new weapons, weapons are being changed so they’re not broken. There’s a lot their doing, and most of it is what players are wanting. So they’re listening, they’re just responding in the game not in forums. The least we can do is respect that and complain about what we don’t like.

But thank you for a better answer, I’ll give you that, most people keep saying the same thing that leads to a dead end and sounds like pointless crying. You gave me a more suitable answer that is more reasonable. So thank you for that.

Man I need a coffee before I tackle that

Your point actually doesn’t stand, because your point was based on Turbine, not Tencent and a completely false situation?? You stated it was a licensing issue …it wasn’t. It was creative differences and contract negotiations fell through.

I’m not sure, I’d be ok with it because Tencent for the most part publishes as well, Amazon is pretty greedy too haha. Leyou is the Developer who was going to do the work. Anyways.

You can defend as much as you want but it’s no secret there are A LOT of issues with how AGS is setup within Amazon. I do feel for the developers, but their parent company Amazon has really screwed up their creative bandwidth, they’ve basically set them up to just be transactional and not creative.

(shortened version)

But there are just NUMEROUS articles with the poor work flow processes they’ve chosen and given to Amazon Game Studios. It feels more like a tool for Amazon rather than this Studio who has creative freedom.

They’re not going to do all the servers at once, but as many as they can. The server merges they did do were more of a problem then they thought. So they delayed the event to work on those. And clearly you don’t know how game development works. One code could destroy a whole line of code. Even learning basic coding you could learn this, things aren’t as simple as MB and GB updates. They’re replacing code and to do so they have to remove code. Doing that on top of working on server merges that went wrong when other server merges didn’t have problems is a lot harder then it sounds.

You don’t have to be positive, but being negative isn’t going to help. Be more understanding over anything, you can be upset if you want, but complaining over something so trivial such as a date set in a PTR blog being removed and not hearing anything about it is pointless. That’s all I was saying, this whole forum got us no where. We were going to get something about the update yesterday no matter what. So why make a forum the day before complaining about it other then to complain?

If you can’t see they are listening through the work they put in the game, then are you really playing the game? People need to be patient, not complain before they have a chance to answer.

I forgot all about that, ether way Tencent’s greed out weights Amazon, want proof just look at Valorant. I never reply to the developers as Amazon, I just started to call them AGS because I’m getting tied of putting developers. Ether way, I don’t really read articles anymore, at most listen to them from other sources. Most of them cut out a lot of things and only selectively choose half stories, while other article publishers copy that work, and I mean just takes words from one article to make their own.

Personally I really don’t care about the LotR MMO they were working on. If Tencent was behind it then I’m glad it didn’t happen. As of the licenses thing, I heard that from an article roughly a year ago about them not coming to an agreement with the license harder. Hints why I don’t read articles anymore. I really doubt the LotR would of been any good anyway, we already have one and it’s not doing so hot, even after it was revamped.

As of the second article you posted, kind of weird how every development team seems to have this whole “bro culture”. Blizzard, Riot, Ubisoft, Respawn and many more. Not sure if they’re legit or not anymore. I really doubt the developers haven’t changed their ways after seeing these bigger names destroyed by that type of culture. So again, comes to how trust worthy the source, and IGN, not so trust worthy.

lol RIP all ppl who took vacation to play the new update…

AGS and their way of communication is poor at best…

Rules are meant to be broken, right? Then so are the promises.

“laughs in winter event”

Lets back away and just look at this from a “where this development studio is” perspective. I’m not sure you actually read through them.

AGS is a studio within Amazon, we all know this. What is confusing is how they are setup and well, treated within the umbrella. AGS does NOT have the freedoms a lets say, Microsoft Gaming Studio has. Phil Spencer can literally call Satya directly. AGS’s Director does not have this luxury, they’re more like a contracted internal Studio if anything, if that makes sense. AGS even pays FULL retail prices for AWS Compute resources, they don’t even get that for free. See this issue here?

I’m not bashing AGS, I’m bashing Amazon for setting up a Gaming Studio so poorly. We’re literally pending on strike 3, Breakaway and Crucible were canned ruthlessly. LotR which is a huge thing, never panned out when they bought very expensive licenses.

Amazon is very similar to Google, I don’t have enough appendages to count of Google project failures because well …they just didn’t like the ROI timeline, this is how Amazon is and will be with this Gaming Studio. If NW is not showcasing Amazon Tech and culture in a positive limelight, that hurts investor image and they will burn this studio as if nothing happened.

All I see is

Don’t get me wrong …I actually like this game. I’m just not going to get attached because I will not be surprised to literally see a “the games servers will be shutdown indefinitely” message out of the blue.
