Patching during primetime

Welcome to Primetime Updates

We had this stuff in the eu from the beginning

17pm boom 3hours downtime atleast 30 times

is the ptr going on live server ?

I’m at work right now. The timing is good for me(even though I’m normally playing during work WFH life). Normal maintenance times are usually on my Friday just as I get off work, but I don’t complain. Timezones exist, sometimes you are the one inconvenienced sometimes not.

It’s not sheep, it’s sensible people.

LOL right on primetime. I guess i’ll be on Dragonflight for the rest of the night. Plan dt’s better AGS common.

I’m in AU and usually the downtime is 6pm local for us. This time it’s 8am so I am very happy about this time slot for once… One thing that doesn’t really make sense is the synchronized bit. Why would you do all servers at once and not ‘follow the sun’ outages which I would expect being 2022. This sort of thing is basic QoL.

I think you’re right about something in the background. I heavy attack someone last night for 9k non crit with great axe. They had max 14% shockwave rend on them cuz no one else was around. No idea how that could have happened, even if he was in crafting gear and no gems I don’t think I could hit that hard with 300 strength I n medium. Maybe there’s a bug?

We can complain about a lot of stuff with regards to New World, but them taking down servers to fix content will never be one and people who do moan about it are are slighty off the chart.

You lose 3 hours of prime time the last 12 months and the world is ending? Cmon. Be reasonable dudes.

The nerve of AGS fixing issues! Horrible! Just horrible! 90 minutes of play time just gone!

Server ON

You can do the patch during non-prime time. Saying they are able to do this now because “it’s their working hours” is not valid. Would you be ok that your ISP is doing some work which would cause some downtime at 9AM when they easily could do it at 2AM. That’s why people get paid overtime, once you reach an amount on userbase you have a certain responsibility. Everything that is not a hotfix should be planned at when the amount of concurrent users is at it lowest so that’s for example 2AM timezone dependent not independent.

Not only is it absolutely ridiculous to bring down servers at prime time but i am more confused why it needs to be brought down.

Why in the hell would you create an event where the server side part runs fixed to/inside the server side game system?

It’s temporary, it will be gone again - it should NOT be part of the main code system from the game.

It should be a separate system, running independently but connected to the game system.

One that you can reset, modify, turn off, turn on again without affecting the main game, especially since it’s “release” aka “unexpected events can happen”.

Why on earth would you make a temporary add-on part of your main code/system and run the risk that it creates issues in there…

Not sure why all the salt over this. 90 minutes. Shave your beards, touch grass, restock on depends.

Seems like it is fixed already… less than the 90 minutes advertised.

If the patch is something that is needed right way to fix the game play then we should all be fine with it. Its a game not life and things dont always go our way.

For some people that is their whole evening/day.

And that to fix something that is not even important enough to bring down servers on prime time.

Go pet your cat.

The irony in the comments… all the people telling you it’s nbd and to ’go touch grass’ are the ones that don’t care because they play all day (thus needing to touch their own grasses). The people that are upset are the ones that have 1-2 hours to play and this ’planned’ patch is hitting right in their free time.

That’s why people get paid overtime

You’re talking to Amazon buddy, their support is people from India because they can be paid less and work the triple
