Scream instant cast 2s root is cancer. The animation isnt an animation that you can react to. You dodge the vg player when you see them coming. You don’t dodge the animation as there aren’t enough windup frames to dodge reliably nor is it obvious as the player doesn’t go into a different lose to cast. You guess when to dodge. You don’t react to an animation.
In wars it is a death sentence. Its some cheesy crap. And yes if you play around point being screamed in the back is going to get you killed and there’s no counterplay to it.
Stuns are not stronger then the root. I get stunned a ton in wars they do not pose the same risk. As soon as someone touches you again you wake up inmediately. Being screamed gets you killed at a much higher % rate per occurrence.
I’ve been fighting in a lot of wars over the past month. Scream is specifically very strong vs melee and is the preferred combo killing tactic for coordinated groups specifically for the fact that it has a long duration hold and has a very high hit rate compared to abilities that cc that actually have a windup animation players can react to , interrupt or avoid. Scream has none of those. Its op.
Maybe you get killed by Scream more often because of the antiheal? Maybe think about that. You can dodge in Scream and if you actually time your dodges it isnt as strong as it used to be.
If you get hit in a cc chain its 100% more devastating. 2 Ga Wh players that are well coordinated are more dangerous than a scream from VG.
Of course Scream is important and strong in Group play its an aoe 29% anti heal. If you woulnt use it in wars this would be just dumb. The root is just a good way to enable the Combos of your Group. An Ice Shower would do almost the same as a scream. But yet almost nobody complains about shower anymore.
Because you can dodge during both skills. And if you time it well and arent in a 30 man clump you can actually not get hit by a stun or sth like that.
And if you tell me now: “But shower only has a 1s root and its easy to get out of it” then you gave yourself the answer why Scream shouldnt be nerfed. Because a 1 sec root where you can dodge while beeing rooted is literally garbage.
It’s a matter of opportunity cost. Most point tanks prefer Shirking Fortification or Elemental Aversion over Refreshing Ward. All of the Refresh perks are intended to increase your skill damage output, not your survivability.
I’m not dying to VG in wars specifically. It’s the first in a combo of getting dog piled on. The snare lasts too long so their teammates pile on you. Its run in coordinated 5-man groups that instant Scream you (the vg user doesn’t do much else other than that and put Oblivion down. You die to all of the teammates that then collapse on you.
The anti-heal isn’t the issue. I don’t care about dueling, more concerned with group fighting.
FYI, nobody complains as much about Ice Shower because you can use abilities to escape it. Not so with Scream.
For bb - more skill usage can mean more stacks of on a roll, which is roughly equivalent to shirking fort.
That persists through bar swap so its very useful. It is almost never capped because the stacks dont actually refresh, which could be a bug. It also increases survivability through decreased cooldowns on entomb and net shot so theres that.
Is there a streamer who is known for running this other than plojow? Ive seen his build videos but i get much better performance with my setup so I wouldnt just differ to his opinion.

Why is there Then No complain about Gravity Well? It groups the Players and Then the Scream is normally done. You only complain about the Skill but you Just dont want to See that If it was nerfed Back again to a 1s Root that ability would be awful and only For the anti heal.
Speaking of the anti heal: what has that to do with dueling? It reduces the healing you Receive. If you stand in a sacred ground you probablx wouldnt die without anti heal.
Before blaming me about Not knowning about the Oblivion Change and how to Interpret it, you should Look at yourself First. You talked about ruining healing by only Scream (29% of 50% anti heal Cap) and you Said VG gets more Fortify but you didnt look at BBs Last Chance passive etc. (50% dmg reduction)
And didnt you say that scream gives 30% Fortify in one of your earlier comments? I dont Know but my Scream doesnt do that
Landing essence rupture is my win condition in most 1v1 fights, stamina on hit is really good because you can just alternate between hitting and dodging
I understand how the game works Kro. A 1 second root compared to a 2 second root that scales up to 3s if you’re under 50% hp when Screamed is a significant difference.
A lot of abilities have roots. None of them are as much of a cage as is VG Scream. Great Axe Gravity Well and IG Ice Shower have been nerfed and nerfed and nerfed. VG is the outlier.
Someone was arguing that Anti-heal was the reason I was dying from being Screamed in wars. I do not have an issue with the anti-heal in wars. I am focused on the Scream root duration and lack of windup animation that cannot be dodged or countered specifically with its kit.
It doesn’t have to be nerfed if they give the ability a Shockwave type long duration animation that can be reacted to. The current blow kiss mili-second animation is crap and you can’t see it in war. It’s worthless. They might as well remove it. That’s not a scream, it’s
a whisper.
Have you seen what a void blade does to any melee that it goes toe to toe against?
Its decimates anything. It attacks so fast and so hard, its tuning is way off even still.
You can go 400 str axe and a void blade will still out dps the axe without breaking a sweat- ALL WHILE HEALING for 30% of damage done lol (which is getting buffed to 40 i believe)
Scream is the longest Root because the ability is only Made For that (If we dont Look at the weapon Perk). Other spells that can Root:
Gravity Well:
Gravity Well is For grouping ppl. The Root is Just nice to have Not the pure Intention of the spell/ability.
ICE Shower:
Before Nerf its Signature move was Not beeing able to dodge after Entering but that was Just too OP. So they Changed it Into a Root + slow + Rend applying spell For IG (it was Like this before, but now without the anti Dodge Thing). Again Here Shower is Not purely Made For the Root.
But The Scream is only there For the Root and anti heal. And Scream is a Close Range spell (Not Like Gravity Well). Thats why its duration is longer. At least imo.
And regarding the extra 1s Root If the enemy is unser 50% HP:
In a war Setup Most of the time that passive isnt that big of a Game changer, because the Setup is thrown Most of the time while the enemies are full HP or at least over 60% HP.
I know Sometimes you are under 50% HP in a gravy Bit thats way less often the Case in comparison to beeing in a gravy in war with above 50% HP.

Its op idk what else to say. The 2s root is an outlier. It also grants fortify.
Hatchet’s with the smallest hit box of all melee weapons has Feral Rush that roots. Not only is the root 1s or less, you have to perfectly hit opponents in the back with it and it feels like flying a kite through a strong headwind. Its wonky as hell with a terribly slow animation that is very easily dodged. It is almost impossible to land in duels vs light armor as they easily roll away while you slowly drift in air. In wars if opponents move at all as you approach them behind it will miss. If you use it from any other angle it does not root.
Compare that to an instant cast 5m cone Scream with a 2s base root on a much more robust kit (VG).
Compare it to the difficulty of landing Musket traps in pvp, which also have a longer animation than Scream.
The VG is an outlier in having no reactable animation and also the base root value is much higher than others for an aoe ability you can’t escape from. It needs nerfs again or an actual longer animation windup as I’ve said to bring it in line.
Feral Rush is a skill shot. Scream is a lay up and a highly effective one. It doesn’t matter what angle you hit from. They should have made it like the old Greek mythology Medusa where it was the inverse with a longer animation and having to attack people from the front for them to be rooted. The game is highly imbalanced.
I think our discussion is pointless. You dont want to change your opinion and I wont change my mind over that unnecessary Vg nerf and Scream beeing not that op as you describe it as.
While i agree with that, i think there is a good spot for ward as well especially with the changes. Mix of damage and mitigation instead of just mitigation. Yes though shirking fort is the tankiest and i cant argue that.
