PC Crashes when launching game

I purchased the game when it came out and refunded it because every time I launched the game my PC rebooted. Decided to give it another shot today and same problem. I have tried every fix I could find to no avail. Doesn’t happen with any other game.

Hello @ambera6

Thank you for the report. Im sorry for the issue you have.

Close and relaunch the Steam client. Then go to Steam Support :: Verify Integrity of Game Files in order to Verify Integrity of Game Files. Then wait for 35 minutes and try to go back to the game.

Make sure to update Bios and follow the recommendations at New World Compatible GPU Driver Update - Support. You might need to Reinstall Easy Anti-Cheat, look for the game directory, and then select the subfolder “EasyAntiCheat.” Click EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe to run the installer, and relaunch the game when complete.

Note: Installation directory for Steam Games will generally be under: C:\Program Files\Steam (x86)\SteamApps\Common

Also please note Game files not reading and writing properly cause a general fault error within New World. This general fault creates a crash, or exit to desktop.

Customer Actions:

  1. See the General Troubleshooting Steps above. Crashing with a fatal error usually happens on systems running older versions of Windows. Be sure to confirm that the system meets minimum requirements to run the game.
  2. Repair or install C++ redistributable (game uses 2015-2017 C++ files, found here: The latest supported Visual C++ downloads). It’s important that players either download the x86 or x64 file version, depending on their specific version of Windows.

The player can also attempt to use the SFC tool built into Windows: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files.

If Game client crashes to desktop with no error message, and can sometimes cause a system crash and restart without error.

You can Attempt General Troubleshooting Steps above.

  1. Ensure that GPU Drivers are updated.
  2. Run System File Check: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files.
  3. Use the Event Viewer to review Event Logs to determine the cause of the application crash.

Thank you so much for your patience and helping us during this launch.
