Penalty for leaving OPR/Arena

The game is borderline unplayable due to ongoing technical glitches and bugs, and you want to penalize people for leaving matches early? I have to reset my game client at least every 90 minutes to have a shot at a functioning game (memory leak weapon swap bug), let alone the numerous other bugs that plague this game (crashing/disconnects, character stuck/Ice Gauntlet bugs etc etc). I might leave an arena/OPR match 10% of the time (whether by choice or disconnect), but I’m never doing it because I just feel like quitting a match.

I totally understand that leaving an OPR/arena early should not count favorably towards your win statistics, but further instituting a penalty time delay is just absurd. Anyway, I’m not usually one to say things like this, but this is the final straw. I’ve played since beta, the game is easily in the worst technical state it’s ever been. If I had suffer through more technical glitches, just to wait an hour to play again…No thanks.

Maybe I’ll see you guys this summer, assuming they focus on technical stability of the game in the next few months. Whether I see you all in Aeternum, or some other game- it was a good time while it lasted, and I will miss everyone but the muskrats <3

Absolutely familiar with it. They removed the penalty for leaving matches because the game was in a technically horrendous state at the time, nothing has changed between now/then.

To be clear- If you quit an arena or OPR early, I think it should be an automatic loss against your Leaderboard stats, I’m not even debating that topic. This is specifically referring to time delaying people from playing future matches, aka the Time penalty.

Incorrect, it was removed because on specific problem (checking your scoreboard would kick you from OPR) and then never added it back.

That issue has been fixed. This is needed with leaderboards (not that I care about them) but the people who do would absolutely abuse this to Boost the W/L percentage. I personally think an hour is too long, 30 min would be better. But as someone who suffers through OPR win or lose, I’m all for forcing people to stay in the game

Once again. If you leave a match early, just count it as a loss. I’m not debating that point, we agree on that. The scorecard comment is spot on, that is a great example of the type of technical bug I am referring to, of which there are dozens if not hundreds currently plaguing the game to this day.

They didn’t fix the other bugs. So why did they change the rules now? Because they likely lack the ability to code a “leave early” as a loss on the leaderboard, or that’s what I get from it. The game is remarkably unstable, but let’s penalize the player base for those bugs.

This is the point you aren’t getting. If my character literally can’t move and cast abilities, I should just sit there until the OPR finishes 30 min later, literally unable to play? I’d also have to go back every few minutes just to make sure I don’t disconnect due to inactivity (LOL) while I still can’t play the game. So in the current system I have to leave the match, and then wait another hour to play again. Because of bugs. Cool.

Ya we agree, I honestly would prefer them readd a feature then spend however many resources to create something new that probs would break anyway.

An hour is too long, 30 min would be better. Are you having issues with crashing a lot? I feel like the last 6 months have been quite good in terms of not crashing for me. I can only recall 2 crashes in awhile and both were when accepting war invites

Edit: of course it’d be great to eliminate the bugs, but they had their hearts set on adding leaderboards that a small minority wanted. When we really wanted ranked

Apologies I wasn’t meaning to be rude there, but yes, the bugs are nonstop. I actually made a post regarding this a few days ago, regarding this very topic. 2 of the below instances were literally unplayable, and the third instance was a judgement call on my end (I’m ok with all of them counting as losses).

Yesterday I fought 6 arenas. 3 went off just fine, in 3 of the matches I had to leave early, due to technical glitches of the game. It’s fine for them to count as losses on the leaderboards, but adding an additional penalty is just brain dead until the game is more stable.

Game 1- Reverse/locked controls bug. This one has been around for ages now. You can’t move, and if you can, the movements are reversed. Full restart of client is the only fix.
Game 2- Ice pylon bug. Oh you had your pylon out before entering arena? Now it no longer exists! Congrats, you can no longer use an entire ability.
Game 3-Our game started 3v2 (their team had 2 players, we had 3). An opposing teammate then quit out of frustration. I proceeded to quit. to make it slightly more fair as a 2v1 (I didn’t have to leave this match early, but it felt like the appropriate thing to do).

Can you post a video of that?

The memory leak issue related to Heartgem abilities is solved by closing the game and reopening. I do it every 2-3 OPRs, in-between matches

You can also fight a wolf and relog while inside OPR and not get kicked

Damn man that sounds rough, you try to repair your game files? I honestly haven’t been experincing near as many bugs as you are.

I know some came back when they copied the winter event code (absolutely awful patch that cost them over 20k players)

It’s wild that your experiencing so many bugs so frequently when I may see a bug pop up once every 3 months now

Bug 1 is usually related to alt tabbing during loading screen.

Press esc or alt or your freelook hotkey in game

Bug 2 log out for 3 minutes, also happens to hatchet Berserk. It’ll be greyed out after a match ends so you can spot it before queuing

Bug 3. Just go get a glass of water while the team farms you 1v3 and let the quitters quit. This change should help reduce that occurance

Actually that is a really good idea, to your point, I actually did a full reinstall about a month ago, and the problems have only seemed to get worse in that time. Maybe I should try repairing and/or reinstalling from scratch again, it could likely only help. I will try that ty!
