Where is the bans for the YouTubers literally making extensive videos about the changes?
I was just thinking the same thing. Like wtf LOTS of people are posting publicly about it.
OPs friend just got banned recently and received those mails as ‘clarification’ to his appeal.
Where exactly is the misinformation?
The “We’d appreciate your feedback” at the end of the second message, lmao.
Like a “Hey, in case you can’t read between the lines. Go fuck yourself. No, really.”
That is weird because as others have stated above the PTR has been streamed publicly quite a lot already. A lot of changes are widely known.
OP’s “friend” says this is what happened with 0 evidence of what actually went through chat. Notice how the screen grab mentions “disruptive behavior?” Was the ban about mentioning the PTR, or was the ban because he mentioned something about the PTR with a string of expletives attached to the sentence?
Think logically for a second, someone would have had to report what he said, would someone be likely to report you because you mentioned the PTR or because what you said in the sentence was vastly more extreme? I’d put money on the latter, given what I’ve seen go through global chat from people that think its ok to talk the way they do.
The first snip is just a meaningless automated standard reply everyone gets just to shut you up in hope human intervention is not necessary.
Think logically for a second, how does one go from a generic ‘disruptive behavior’ to a specific ‘violation against pre-release NDA’? Why wouldn’t you stick to one consistent story for a ban?
And no, my first instinct is not to assume people are lying given AGS track record for ‘random’ bans.
The CSR(s) obviously screwed up because it’s not a pre-release test. It’s a public* test realm. Better training is required. Someone in higher authority should do a manual review of this. Very bad for PR.
Mine is when it comes to people complaining on a forum they, I mean their “friend”, was banned.
I’m not trying to say people haven’t unfairly been banned. They have.
I’m not trying to say mistakes haven’t been made, they have.
The PTR is public facing, information about the PTR is being discussed on the servers A LOT. If they were banning because of that there would be a plethora of people complaining. The fact their isn’t says a lot.
They cannot attach an NDA to anything public facing. Its likely they were NOT banned for discussing the PTR, the ban was likely for something completely different, and the LIVE Chat (who has been proven several times not to know what is actually going on) posted a bunch of responses that just made it sound far worse than it most likely was.
Money says at some point a DEV/CM will chime in here and say they aren’t banning people for discussing the PTR. If they say opposite of that I’ll eat my words and join the bandwagon, but I bet that won’t happen.
Yes, so why did someone go through the trouble to cite a long and very specific NDA violation instead of just sticking to the easy ‘you got banned for toxic behavior’?
It makes no sense.
Wait.
But youtube videos about PTR changes are ok? Or every youtuber already got banned for this?
I have never logged onto the PTR either. I did, however, update the PTR on my steam library list and it said that I ‘visited’ one time, so I wonder if your friend did the same?
The whole system is a joke.
- Being partially banned for streaming PTR, after being told it’s confidential. That makes perfect sense.
- Being banned for disrespecting others. That makes perfect sense.
Think of it this way, you have some people come over to chill at your house. Randomly, one of the people becomes belligerent for no reason at all. The person starts verbally attacking people and everyone is confused. In return, I’m pretty sure, you would tell the person, “Stop it, leave the house, or I’ll call the officials to resolve it.” That’s a form of partially or completely banning someone.
Ban this CSR from his job
So this entire thread is based on hearsay and we do not even get to see the conversation to understand the context of what actually occurred?
You state that this person was banned for discussing something in ‘global’ which we are to assume is in game? Perhaps the conversation was extremely toxic and the ban was a result of this (disruptive behavior stipulated as original ban) and an Amazon employee made a human error when inputting the denial on the appeal?
Sorry, without the conversation, this simply looks like ‘your friend’ was going off toxic in chat, got banned and when the appeal was filed for the disruptive behavior ban in global chat, an error was made with someone hitting the wrong button and the denial came across for NDA instead of disruptive behavior.
We do not even have basics in this thread such as the conversation, whether this person is on his third ‘disruptive behavior’ ban ect.
Sorry, not willing to set the fire beneath the witches feet…
I went to the bottom of the thread to type something similar. You beat me here. I’ll keep the torches and pitch fork at my side, but I’m not ready to stab at monsters yet until I see more info about this situation. Only have about half of this story.
Seems like a rash of dyslexia here. The message show Pre-release Testing, so PRT. But, most of the posts here are saying it refers to Public Test Realm, so PTR. Neither of the images above are dated, so impossible to tell if these are old or new responses.
I tend to believe what’s written and not what’s imagined and this is stated as Pre-release Testing, so I’m going to go with that unless I see something other than what is listed above.
As finally people are pointing out above, these emails are not referring to the PTR (Public Test Realm) but clearly state Pre-release Test (PRT) which I do believe there were NDA’s for those who played the PRT, and since there is no evidence for when these emails were received this can easily be total BS.
And seeing how many posts here are eagerly criticizing AGS for a post that is more than likely completely illegitimate lets me know how blown out of proportion every issue with this game is.
Nobody else intrigued by the typing indicator at the end of the second screenshot?
