it is the mindset of people who fail in rl and can only succeed in games
Shut up with the “maximum power shouldn’t be reached by casuals”, you gate keeping a-hole.
I stopped reading right there and then, you self righteous arse.
Ooo because I put in 1000 hours in two months only I should have access to the best gear in the game.
No, everyone should have access to it, no matter how long they play, 10 hours a day, 5 hours, 2 hours, hell 2 hours a week!
If they are good enough, they should be able to get it. Through multiple means. It may take longer, but they should still have access to it.
100% agree
What if someone’s definition of fun is PvP?
Go get yourself some faction gear and try to kill a full 600 GS player. That should give you a sense of what “fun” will be like for a long time after the change for “casual” PvP players who can’t spend all day no-lifing this buggy mess of a game.
First, I do not agree with the original post in many areas and I will discuss that here briefly in a moment.
Second, we are still on the 1.1 variants of the patches, so how can folks be complaining about a 1.2 that I do not see released yet.
So, now, where I do not agree with the OP on is where they are stating that the best gear in game should be reserved for the hardcore players. This is simply a philosophy choice and I do not agree at all. Guild Wars 2, you can craft Ascended that are equivalent of Legendary Items. Legendary Items are much more difficult to get, are time gated, and anyone that makes one proves to themselves (who cares about what others think) that they earned it (much like crafting all crafts and the watermark here).
Another think I do not agree with the OP on is Maximum power/hwm should not be in reach of casual players. It is simply a fact that after all the hardcore players get bored and move over to the next thing, casual players are what will still be here supporting the game. Making this game a game that is hardcore exclusive would victimize casual players and they will just move out to games that do support their playstyles. I never understand why folks want to victimize fellow gamers because they may not have the time to spend on a game as someone else. Face it, this is just another way to start a needless argument and bully section between fellow community members.
The OP referenced WoW here, but honestly, WoW still has about a million players playing per day, that is actually not a bad number to aspire towards (although I do not feel New World is geared towards this type of support at the moment). Scary part is that I feel that a good portion of that 1 million per day WoW players are significantly casual players.
Finally, natural selection, sure, all the hardcore impatient players who do not get their way will leave, leaving many casual players who have not even reached level 60 will remain and hit the hardcore grind or roadblock, then quit because it is just not fun for them anymore at that point. So those dedicated players, be them hardcore or casuals, will continue to debate how exclusive this game should be rather then trying to offer inclusive solutions like maybe every player can in fact have it their way, in degrees. After all, the looks of an item show more bragging right over the actual stats that nobody sees anyways and even creates more of that intimidation factor the OP is advocating for. A great place to takes notes over this philosophy is Guild Wars 2.
I agree to some extent. I think they would need to add more viable ways to increase watermark for people who primarily PVP or craft only. Part of what makes New World fun is people can progress without having to stick to one thing. I understand the folks who say they dont want to have to grind chests but still feel like theyre progressing. I think both things can be true.
Do you understand that they are doing this for micro transactions to be more profitable and so they can sell the crafting material? It will become about who is willing to pay to win. This is going to become more then just skins in the store.
In some of your points i agree but let me explain where is the main problem in those changes from my point of view.
Any kind of timer that stall your progression gives more time to devs until they release new content.
100 GS or 120 GS levels are the same number on days until someone can reach the cap depends if its 600 or 620. thats more than 3 months to 4 months if you able to log and do it every single day.
In general the game will have a free pass that people have things to do for the next 6 months.
That is really worry me.
If our current watermark is converted to expertise it will put to people that dont have it near max or new players a 3-4 months obstacle. Do you believe any new player or returning player will join the game with that?
If they reset all of us 500 that is probably what they will do. It will make not a low percentage quit because of that. They need to be carefull with that route as well but its no so bad as the first one.
I do agree that a end game progression is good and it will give meaning but you need to include most of game activities and no limit it behind a timer.
XP or weapon combat xp in order to increase expertise is the best route for me.
OMG THIS! One of the best posts I’ve seen so far! Well done, well done.
It’s easy to complain, but difficult to recommend solutions. To me, it sounds like you like NOTHING in this game. The solution that is being proposed encompasses so many activities to increase the gear. Complaining about the past accomplishes nothing. Yes, what you are talking about is current, but it is not permanent.
OMG! Like OMG! A MMO changed how they do things. Please . . . notify the press, this is something new.
EVERY MMO game has a gear grind. Even games that give welfare legendaries you have to put some effort into playing the game.
You’re telling me I can just do OPR and open world PvP and I’ll be fine? Oh wait… it won’t. This changes how I have to play. My GS is 592, my role in my company is PvP, that’s what I do. But my HWM is like 515, so my gear is useless now. I am forced into chest runs to improve my WM (even though those will be nerfed). I get one cache per day from OPR under this. So a week, saying I get 5 stat improvement from those chests will get me 35 expertise raise for one of my items. If I kept only doing OPR and open world PvP I will not be getting returns from my gear. I will now have to find every avenue to grind expertise, because I picked the wrong style of endgame. Anyone who actively choose to spend hours every day doing chest runs are fine. Anyone who didn’t participate in this mechanic are left behind
Sure mate, that’s why I participate ind most Wars, spam play OPR when they were popping in my server, help on invasions, play daily, im leveling my professions to 200, do open World PvP with my brother, even as 60 do all lower dungeons cause I find them pretty damn awesome (specially dynasty), have spent quite a bit of money on the store to support the game since we don’t pay a sub and have over 300hours played…
But sure I don’t like the game and basically play only NW cause I hate it…
Jeesh some of these people eh.
cough
See you in April. We’ll see what your tune sounds like then.
Indeed and AGS is following the path of the Dodo bird natural selection and evolution at it’s finest!
Oh I understand it…very clearly…the minute the patch goes live I will be “temporarily” less effective even though I have spent all my time crafting, gathering, grinding everything EXCEPT HWM. That is pure BS. Had we all know, the rules would change come December, there would have been a whole lot less crafting, gathering, OPRing, waring going on.
Players are essentially being punished “temporarily” for … grinding crafting, punished! For grinding gathering to earn money, punished! For grinding OPR and wars, punished! For essentially grinding everything EXCEPT HWM, PUNISHED.
No player should go backwards in effectiveness. Change what you want going forward, but this system should not cause anyone to go backwards. Unacceptable.
EVERYONE will be worse off after this update. From 60’s with all armor and weapons at HWM to new 60’s who are stuck with 500 gear. Those at the HWM limit (I have all armor and 3 weapons at 590) will have their jewelry reduced to 500 (maybe a bit more for the ring slot). All those 600 jewelry items will be worth nothing until those HWM score can be grinded up. I honestly think that AGS don’t have any developers/creators that actually play the game and can present positive/negatives for different elements of gameplay.
This is vastly incorrect, no one is going to waste money buying a weapon that is their current WM level with the intention of farming a higher WM item in the very same hour. People will just rotate the newly dropped gear over and over again all the way back to 590s… Crafters will just be a thing of the past.
Congratulations on your white knight post, shitting all over the community and accusing us of being stupid. After reading that wall of hot garbage, it’s clear you don’t care why the community is unhappy with the core changes.
I think the majority of players complaining, just don’t understand why we have lost 90% of players since launching and its still alarmingly dropping.
Do you think there is going to any new content if there are only 10000 active players and no cash coming in?
If things don’t change, NW isn’t going to be here in 3 months.
We need the casuals to come back to pay for developers salaries. This is a necessary step to bring them back.
