People complaining about 1.2 haven’t understood the changes

As someone who left a real, legitimate cult, your wording made me LOL.

Religion and Politics is a game of verbal gymnastics that convinces people of unconvincing positions. The same seems to be applicable here.

Decades ago I read the book, Wizards First Rule while let me down 30 years of reading fantasy, and I’ve never forgot the book nor the question and answer.

The question from the apprentice was, What is the Wizards First Rule?

And the answer was…People are stupid. They believe what they believe because they want it to be true, or they are afraid that it might not be true.

Seems to apply here. That was some gymnastics in writing.

Im a casual because I hate chest runs? I have played nearly every MMO, excelled in the highest levels of competition…but because I think their watermark system is dumb and boring (so I dont do it) it makes me a casual? Nah bro, it just makes you someone with zero standards in quality.

Correct, if I played the Auction House to get money to purchase my gear at a higher GS, that is Part of the Game, and Part of the Server life & economy as well.

Denying me that possibility, is also denying the crafters the possibility to sell their stuff.

Edit : If you want player to not be able to bypass the gear grinding fest you want us to play, just remove the possibility to buy/sell/trade gear equipment. Don’t forget, you need to lock trade, other wise bad players will find a way to make trades on the side without the auction house and the money sink it is.

If there are 10 or 11 slots to upgrade, the math would be $6000-$6600 a day.

nw bs

Also, if we take what the dev stated above at face value per ‘orb’ at 30-60 minutes a day, this would result in 5-11 hours per day just to do your daily orbs for all of your gear when using the gypsum method for watermarks. Think of this, 5 hours minimum and up to 11 hours based on the 30-60 minute of play time per ‘orb’ as suggested by a dev.

We will all be forced into still doing the endless PVE chest grinds, camping bosses, doing dungeons all of which will now be greatly nerfed in addition to also doing gypsum taking months to get us back to where we are at now on gear score. The majority of players are just hanging on and not active in game, how many will want to play after this change?

Amazon needs to grandfather the change in and only implement the cap on new content with gear over 600 or come up with a solution where they are not punishing the majority of their already struggling player base.

you can only collect enough stuff to craft 7 a day then it jsut stops dropping for 23 hours

Basically anyone who didn’t grind Watermark is getting punished, the people who already have HWM are the people who get Stacked Decks, Loaded Dice, Armorers Journals, Armorer pieces, Engineer pieces and they had high GS equipment that people would buy. Between Crafters and HWM grinders, HWM grinders already had the better experience and undoubtedly have more gold than most crafters.

I have 500 hours in New World and i am not level 200 in any trades I’m 182 Jewelcrafting, 140 Engineering, 100 furnishing and 115 armoring. I have harvested ALL of my mats and have bought absolutely nothing from the market for my trades, but i still participate in PVP through 580gs weapons that i bought (Which weren’t cheap) and 540gs armor someone crafted me.

Now on top of my endless grind to get my trade skills up, my gear for pvp is now weak and i am FORCED to do HWM. Even when i eventually reach 200 Jewelcrafting i can’t even use my Jewellery to it’s full extent, even though Jewelcrafting is easily the worst trade to level.

Good point, I missed this. You will have seven ways to earn gypsum and each will have a 24 hour cap.

This is supposedly a ‘PVP’ game and yet, PVP players that do not want to be forced into PVE to earn watermarks have ONE avenue, OPR and currently, they do not even have that as the majority of servers are so dead that OPRs have not happened in weeks on many of them.

The more I read about this change, the less likely I am to return to a game I already have little desire to play. Just when we think Amazon cannot make a more idiotic decision as far as this game is concerned, they come up with this?

I stopped reading at “take RuneScape” using that game as an example of anything is just silly.

Yes! Thank you, OP.

Seriously, this game is so close to being amazing. The devs are responding with a CONSISTENT stream of feedback, updates and content patches.

And i guarantee they laugh at all the entitled poopsockers that come here to whine about how they hate this game, to berate the devs, to fearmonger, and to just generally be fucking idiots.

Does this game stand to benefit from criticism? Absolutely.

Is this game for every type of player? Nope. This is kind of a niche mmo. Sorry. Idk if thats what AGS intended, when they created something slightly outside the typical AAA mmo box. But thats what it is now. And i love it.
Most of the people here complaining about how they are being FORCED(lol) to do X, or about how the devs are clueless, should just find another game tbh. And that is ok. It would be better for everyone if you left.

Why? Its literally one of the most popular mmos in the world.

Explain.

I didn’t read any of it but you probably missed the part where they reduced your chances of increasing you HWM from 10% to 1%. They added orbs+ will each cost you 1k to craft for a very small boost. That’s 5k per day. Not every has that kind of gold.

And thats a big part of why I dont like this change.

I stopped reading there because I don’t see it as a triple a game and because it has no relevance on what a good mmo is to me. It’s absolutely fine that for you it’s relevant but you lost my interest at that point. When crafting an argument like yours maybe try to avoid using polarizing examples. RuneScape just is not relevant to some people.

Quit talking shit. You’re making up those numbers. On top of that, the dev post was updated to say they are reducing the cost.

Just because you put together some smart looking sentences, talking about literature and “own experiences” (which mean jack Sh… for other ppl since they are your own)… doesnt mean you are right.

Go comment on some threads where people come with outlandish claims like “AGS wants to kill the game” … like THAT makes sense.

The person wrote what they believe is true and how they interpret things…

You on the other hand… are doing the exact same thing (namely: doing mental gymnastics…aka referencing literal wizards to prove your point…)

in addition to that, you calling people stupid… the moment you start insulting people you lost your right to be taken seriously.

and lastly… its so easy to distinguish between people who are “stupid” and people who aren’t… the former start throwing around strong words and insults… like “hot pile of garbage” and… “people are so stupid” … while the latter do none of these things.
bye

The reason people are complaining is because the watermark system seemed like a waste of time from the start. People were lead to believe that crafted gear was the best in the game. So why raise your watermark when you can gather and craft?

This appears to have been a system they planned on releasing for a while now. They just didn’t have the time to implement it. Now it’s a big “fuck you” to almost everybody who didn’t bother with the pointless chest grind.

100% feel your pain. They really have destroyed 2 of the 3 avenues to becoming ‘strong’ in the game… I see a huge majority of the playerbase leaving or participating much less. Either youre a crafter, a fighter or an economy guy. All three routes can get you a good load out. now, only the guys who wanna zerg shit do well.

Fk ags lol

It was all in the datamine.
Before you say “well it’s not official” or that “it’s unreliable” the crafting information that was datamine-d last patch was 100% accurate.

While I agree with many of your points…
I heavily disagree with the last one.

“Natural selection will do its job, we may lose players but the most dedicated will stay”

Let’s just break that down for a second. You are ok with people leaving because they don’t like changes to the game. Lets look at this from another perspective.

“I’m ok fewer people are coming to my restaurant because you don’t like my food”.

You don’t need to go to school for business to know… that isn’t good. It is still a business and it needs to make money. To do that it needs players.

Yea, this change isnt gonna bring any casual back, they dont care about an even playing field, a casual wants easy progression while being able to experience all the content, they want their cake and want to eat it as well
