you have a 16% chance to roll a 600. That means 45k in asmodeum and 30k in shards (GA) alone. To hopefully get 1 BEFORE we get into the perk RNG. Currently, I can sell the 595-599 if they have good perks and hopefully break even.
With expertise up to 600 it will be in everyone’s interest to just get gear from dungeons.
Couple of things I think need to happen to keep it fair to crafters & allow items to retain their value long term:
Item needs to be 595+ only (to make major trophies still hold their value)
Upgrade costs 1 Umbral shard and 15 of each cooldown item (asmodeum, runic leather, phoenixweave, and glittering ebony) to boost it to 600, regardless if its 595, 596, 597, 598, or 599
Quality should not change
On top of this, there should be a re-roll system for legendary items that rerolls all attributes & perks. It should only be able to be done ONCE and can only be performed by someone with 200 in that respective skill (Armoring for armor, Arcana for Gauntlets/Staves, etc). Should cost 5 Umbral Shards to roll a legendary that’s not already bound. The output item cannot be rerolled and it is bound to the player.
Even with the long grind I haven’t minded so much. The gathering and exploring one can do even in late game has kept it going. As mentioned the constant assault of bots and bugs are what’s wearing me down.
The great problem that everybody ignores is that is difficult to get a item with good perks. Imagine a legendary 600 GS item with right status and good perks. If they did not change the drop system, the Umbral system, good or not, will be useless (yes… we can upgrade our 600 GS named weapons and void set, but…)
I’d suggest to allow upgrading GS for gear below 600GS, but keep the rarity level the same when upgrading so that people who crafted legendary 600GS gear can keep their 1 perk advantage over epic gear that were formerly sub 600GS. This way people who don’t already have 600GS gear can stay relevant with the gearscore increase without needing to redo their gear all over again.
Sort of, I recall the umbral shards working, but at the same time, it wouldn’t allow 590 items to gain a third perk once hitting 600. That’s not exactly what people wanted, which ruins the entire point of having umbral shards working with the items.
This is actually brilliant idea. I personally think the best idea would be keeping max gs at 600 and use umbral shards to upgrade items to 600. New mutator dungeons would give new perks, more challenge, more loot, more umbral shards but it wouldnt pump the cap between returning players and hardcore player.
And what comes to returning players, if you could uprage ure gear with umbral shards up to ure expertice level im sure it would look nice to returning players same as old players with <600 gs. Hell i think it would be awesome to grind Ill-gotten Gain or any other low level legendary to 600 even if it would take a couple months.
Upgrading favorite looking armor with 2 bis perks or some awesome low level legendaries sounds just fun.
We didn’t “win”. They gave us an extremely neutered version that still causes the same issue. What’s the point in wasting umbral shards on purple 600s? This still devalues <600 gear. Crafters will have a hard time on resale of items. This attempt is a snub at “we’re listening”. It’s selective in nature. Crafting rng is becoming more and more horizontal with more perks, material prices aren’t even worth the attempts bc of it. If they let us push to 600 make it legendary with a random roll. The rng system is already ridiculous and that way it’s still a catch up mechanic of sorts.
They listened to the feedback, they made the requested changes - everyone is in the same boat of trying to roll 600 leg pieces with good stats to be worth upgrading just like we are all in the same boat trying to roll good 2 perk epic pieces.
You sound like someone who has crafted very few pieces of gear, as someone who’s easily spent 450k~ on just crafting my own gear; you are delusional if you think adding the ability to guarantee 600 legendries with a small umbral cost isn’t going to massively devalue crafting gear. Just go find any decent 2 perk epic and upgrade it, why craft anything?
You have it backwards because you appear to have not interacted with the systems you are describing enough to know better.
I’m full 600 with many BIS items I rolled or had rolled for me. So this “complaining” I’m doing doesn’t affect me. It’s a broken system that should be fixed. Just because it doesn’t affect me personally doesn’t mean I can’t voice my concern for others who I know are struggling with terrible rng. Upgrading purples to 600 purples doesn’t help anyone. It’s an attempt to quite most of us with a “we listen”. Having it turn legendary with a random roll only helps people and they should. It adds value to a 595 2 good perk item. It even allows less fortunate people a chance at maybe rolling a 2nd good perk on their gear. Crafting is horizontal and it’s becoming increasing more with a new pool inc.
I’ll bite though what systems don’t I understand bc 450k crafting is chump change experience.
