AGS did explain it: Bug using can happen, but if you do it several times, its exploiting and you get banned.
If ppl bought “a little bit” with this gold, its bug using and happens… If they exploited it by buying everything they can, to prevent AGS from just taking away the money, they should get a perma ban.
“Lets give players hundreds of thousands of gold and ban everyone who’s using it”
LOL. No one asked for this gold and of course I use the gold I have. I dont do daily research to find out if my gold is from shop or if its from amazon who wants to test if I use it.
For people that perhaps dont see the whole picture :
Event A : Lots of people receive too much gold.
Solution A : Devs shutdown servers, take the gold back, problem can be solve pretty fast.
Event B : People receive large amounts of gold that CAN’T be random and rush auctions and plundered it.
Solution B : Shutdown servers, rollback players, cancel transaction, long maintenance huge impact on most players experience and on AGS’s team amount of work to solve it.
I got told I will get money back, hence I was expecting to receive gold. I was surprised it was what I got, but after all, it was announced. Of course I started using it, because I was told this is what I should have had after all. Banning anyone for an error on AGS side would be the last of this game.
There’s no way they can undo this mess they’ve created, they’ll just scrub whatever gold they can from the people who still have the gold on their character and sweep the who incident under the rug just like they did with the duping exploits.
If they remove all the gold that was incorrectly added they’ll just screw over whose stuff was bought by exploiters. If they don’t remove that gold, they’ll allow a loophole for people who’ve laundered that gold to friends via bogus trades.
A server-wide rollback is probably the fairest way to handle this mess, but even that will still screw over a plenty of people who’ve made legitimate progress during those couple hours and I’m willing to bet Amazon would rather leave people with excess gold and worry about the long term effects later than risk upsetting even more people at a time when the game is on the cusp of dying.
a lot of people just bought all kind of stuff from the auction house just for fun because they knew it will get fixed.
i know someone who bought all kinds of mats to test how much crafts he needed to get a 600GS armor with a chance of 582-600.
most of the people who used the “bad money” ment NO HARM WHATSOEVER.
because right when the problem showed up, EVERYONE knew it will get rolled back.
there is literally NO OTHER SOLUTION to the problem.
so why not having fun with the money?
some people also used the money and items from the AH to get some steam archivments with it.
i cant see any problem here comming from the players perspective/base.
Players didnt cheat or exploit. The gold has been sent by AGS, players simply received it agains their wills. No explanation has been given. No information has been given. Details were unclear for hours. And you expect they will punish players who, deprived of any possible information, did spend said gold?
My god …
This is a MMO game, not a “how long can you not spend gold sent by the developers without any further explanation” - simulator which bans you if you fail.
I didnt even play today and am now waiting to log in. It’s been 6ish hours already.
Update:
We are still investigating the incorrect player coin compensation and working on a rollback for all affected characters in the EU Central region.
Unfortunately we don’t have an ETA when the rollbacks are finished, but we will keep you updated once we have additional news.
How could you know for sure when they were talking about “coin compensations” ? People just took the money and rolled with it, you can’t blame the players wtf ? This is pretty screwed i mean blaming the players cause they used the gold granted by the devs (even announced “compensations” beforehand). Taking actions against the ppl who profited in some way from AGS blatant mistakes is like saying jail the customer for a refund. They effed up ALOT (in sooo many ways beyond this) this thread is pure nonesense …
