Musket will kill you before you can get in range of your aa, not to talk about your skills.
Bow will destroy you on range. You can fight bow but only if he isnt that good with build.
Bruiser will eat you alivie. Before patch you could manage stamina and CD to fight top bruisers, but no longer the case. They can ignore all cc IG has and now you cant get out after thye close gap. And all bruisers do close gap couse all mele str weapons were build that way - so yo ucan close gap to range users.
Healer? You can forget you can kill a healer if he wont screw up. It was always close to impossible and still is.
So reality is mage is good only vs less skilled players and other mages.
Yes, because FS is only quite viable with BB. FS is not really dmg weapon, not utility weapon, no CC weapon. So BB is necessary because BB have everything.
Yeah, that’s a problem too. BB is nothing alike mage in terms of gameplay, and it happens the same with void gauntlet (it’s either melee or support). But since BB is really strong, they might think “well mages are fine”. I’ll laugh if a guy using a shotgun is considered a mage lol.
Yea i dont call this builds “mage”. But reality is that all mages were forced to play that since its only way you can deal with oppresive light mele attacks spam. IG cc can be just ignored by all bruisers and fs does not have cc and only escape skill is very slow to cast and easy to break.
Exactly, the only way you had as a mage to kill someone is by kiting (of course, if they stop chasing you, they’ll just get away). With the stamina changes + recently roll nerfs, we’re not able to kite, but we have no damage either. We’re literally useless. In a war, I really feel like a human training dummy. I might score a high place at the leadearboard, but that doesn’t make an effect at all in wars. You could also run bow+lifestaff and get a high score, but you’re not helping win the war, you’ll be useless. That’s the problem with firestaff/ig right now.
I mean you coult never kite. Sure maybe 1 vs 1 when IG had strong cc. But it was jumping from close combat to 15m range where mage had tools to jump to 15m distane and bruiser tools to bring it back to close combat. But i woudnt call it kiting.
Kiting is what bow/rapier did rapier nerfs - he could do dmg while stayin on distance. This is kitting.
And mages never had that capability. Main reason was that after each attack you have slow - so moment you decide to do dmg, you open window for enemy to close distance. Bow has someting like that but its nowhere near as oppresive as mage slow. Also bow has more haste build into weapon.
For me “kiting” is compatible with take some damage (for this game, league or any game). I see it as “running away while trying to do damage, and minimizing the damage you take”. You’re right there’s a huge difference between mages and dex range users, the later can be untouched (more range, less stamina consumption, speed bonuses, etc) and we (mages) can’t.
Before stamina/roll changes, if they bruisers got to you, if you were able to dodge the CC, you could still try to get away. With all the changes they’ve made, as a mage, you won’t 99% of the times.
I really feel like the roll nerf was done becuase of muskets/bows, but then they should nerf their mobility (their perma speed after rolls or their 20% less stamina consumption), and not all light armors (they completely broke mages).

Mages are good, always first at dmg, first at kills, lowest amoount of deaths compare to others. The same is on opr the same is in wars. Also in pve is good, in genesis you can freely play as mage.
The same is with archers and musket, the only weakness of those is that, they can’t enter on point and capture it, but since they are range they have other adventages, simply do not firts really to WAR and OPR mechanics, but it doesn’t mean they are weak and need boost.

Ohh i would forget, 3 fire mages in 1 time at arena 3 vs 3 was dominatin every other composition for so long, dunno how its now, cuz arena is bad in genearl, but i guess they still own there.
@Asz… is this an old pic… I imagine it is… you clearly havent played in a while. Currently the FS has been shelved by most players except the skilled few who work the through the LONG list of bugs and slow/locking mechanics… but thanks for you opinion. Currently being deleted with no escape by all the GS / bows / muskets
My screen with WAR stats is from Dry Tree server 4 days ago, i am playing without break all time in pvp mode. Topic maybe is old, din’t check it, for me was active, someone answer befoer me and it was listed as one of the crurrently active, but yeah if its old then should be closed removed. Forum is full of those outdated topics… moderators sleeping.
They still do for sure. In fact there’s a new post in the feedback section right now about pylon+fire mages in arena haha
I was on a triple melee team the other day vs triple mage team. The other 2 melee on my team died in the first 5-10 seconds every round. I was the only one who managed to do anything but of course got wrecked in 1v3 vs the mages after. Sometimes I watch ARROWli and every time he faces double mage in arena its a super bad time for him and he is pretty skilled at archer. Even when he was duoing with a very good mage himself. Mages are super strong in 3v3.
I haven’t gotten to play it in war since returning to the game a couple months ago but I almost always win 3v3 on mage and if I do OPR on mage, compared to playing my melee builds, it is SUPER easy to get in the top 5, highest damage and very low deaths.
