We were told from an official source that Regional Server transfers were going to be a thing. Backpedaling on this decision has misled your player-base and is causing mass frustration. Make it right by taking a couple extra weeks to implement this.

They should have launched the server transfers THIS week.
I am already waiting almost two weeks to be able to play with my friends!
At least let them unlock the servers them.
And I don’t understand why people are going to play on EU when they are from US or things like that…
Yeah I totally understand - a couple extra weeks might be a little excessive, but it will keep a lot more players than just shutting down the idea in its entirety.
I don’t think they backpedalled. I think whoever communicated that cross-region server transfers were available was wrong, and that it was never planned or going to be available. It’s not that they changed their mind, we were given the wrong information in the first place.
The problem is that transferring characters across regions would probably be extremely difficult from a technical standpoint. The best we can hope for is that they will think of boost mechanics for people that need to reroll.
I’m currently in the US, but returning to the UK in a month or two. I decided to start on the NA region servers and transfer later, because the latency would be better. Other people in Europe rolled on NA servers temporarily when they saw the European servers had these massive long queues. There are lots of reasons.
According to the other thread, customer support is saying they don’t want to transfer region to region because it will cause player inflation on certain regions… Not that they can’t.
No, they said that about locking character creation on over-populated servers, not about region to region transfers. See what they said about region to region transfers below.

Different regions operate on separate databases and tagging a character to a new world isn’t possible.
Possible or not, that seems like end of discussion. Time for those unhappy to make an adult decision - even if its with a childish tantrum.
Can’t believe I spent $40 on an MMO that I can’t even play with my friends. We got split between US West and East during the first week due to queue times and our group not realizing how final the decision was. Once we were under the impression we’d be able to transfer across regions we decided to keep playing with our characters instead of restarting. Now we’re either not going to be able to play together or half the group is probably quitting the game.
As far as I’m aware unless it was stated somewhere else Basically a tweet went out thanking players for patience when launching the game
Someone asked in the tweet “can you switch between NA and EU” this is the quote. A dev said “yes”.
The question was vague, the answer was vague. As effectively as can switch between NA and EU.
This appears simply to be a lack of initiative to ask further into the question and stipulate exactly how we can switch between NA Nd EU and being too late with information regarding the issue.

FFXIV hasn’t conquered the ability to transfer between regions…
Data center based servers effectively put Ur character in a server inside a server inside another server. It’d require some serious code work to transfer your character and would likely end in complications and problems continuously.
It’s unlikely the game would be able to sustain regional transfers for a long while and considering how small AGS actually is as a devision they prolly don’t have the manhours to be able to manage it consistently.

Ignore this… it seems I musta missed a source as even AGS are admitting they did state you can transfer between regions.
I doubt revert on this if they could do it however given they will know they will lose alot of players with this decision.

Atreau is that from AGS support? That’s directly contradicting what the Community Managers are saying. So the question is, which person is right?
Personally, I think that guy was giving you incorrect information.
