Petrifying Scream

Void Gauntlet’s Petrifying Scream ability is far too powerful. It’s better than the Ice Gauntlet’s Ice Shower by a landslide as far as ease of use, has half the cooldown (even less when you factor in the myriad of CDR perks that the VG has), triple the duration, does damage, staggers, and reduces healing by 50% when perked properly. How can 1 ability have so many uses? It’s way too strong and needs a significant balance pass - definitely do not understand how it could have been released in the current state.

Requires almost melee and its cone is really narrow.

This is not an issue when you’re playing a point-oriented game. People are on point, or in the case of OPR funneled inside of a base. It’s impossible to not land your ability in these cases, even more impossible in wars.

It still affects less targets than IG’s storm.

I said Ice Shower, not ice storm. Ice storm doesn’t root, it slows.

My bad I was thinking of the storm + basic attack combo.

The thing then is quite different. Ice Shower is supposed to be a defense tool (hence why the speed boost when passing through too) while the scream is an offensive tool. Different purposes mean different balance.

It has like a 3m range and a very narrow cone, you almost need to be touching them to guarantee it sticking most times, sure inside the forts in opr or on the flags in wars you can land a good hit, but in open play 6/10 times it will miss the target, and it can be dodged, but I wouldn’t mind it if the duration of the heal debuff was perhaps focus dependant to stop GA players using it in the offhand to get an extra CC and a 20% damage bonus pbaoe

VG also has no block unless you spec and use the sword… and it’s VERY mana hungry, costing you health to stay in the green.

Also if you are thinking about balancing VG abilities cost an insane of mana in comparison with IG sure you can symphony your health for mana (like a warlock in wow) but then you are left with less health and the scaling for the healing with the focus portion of the VG doesn’t seem to be working at all anyway so they are left with less health making it easy to kill them. Now I do believe EVERY weapon needs some balancing or tuneing when it comes to pvp for sure or have a diminishing return feature like wow incorporated over the years because being stunned for 10+ seconds is insane

Ikr, it’s like they learned nothing from the whole OP ice gauntlet fiasco. Let’s remove the root that everyone hates from this weapon but we put it on this weapon instead! VG is broken, just like the musket right now. I honestly don’t understand how they can release things like this…

I for one am a rapier/musket user I’m in the company Tarnished on plemora and there is a guy there who uses a bow and hits people for 15k in the head, musket in itself is not as forgiving if you miss your shots, using a bow on the other hand you can get more shots in then a musket, but it is all preference. I love the musket for the sniper feature where you can zoom in 3x. Muskets main damage is reliant on head shots; if you go down the tree you’ll notice a lot of empower passives and CDR based on landing head shots. If you can’t land your head shots your damage ends up becoming mediocre which is why they increased the damage of muskets in genera by 2.5% and the musket is still buggy with the passive talent that gives you a free reload after landing 3 head shots with in 5 seconds, and the bug ends up shooting like 5-20 shots back to back to back and you spam the shooting button, sometimes it registers all the shots and sometimes it does not, either way you end up losing all the bullets.

All in all for the health of the game in pvp the devs will have to make a separate tool tip when players are engaged in pvp and pve content.

Hammer shockwave is a better petrifying scream but I don’t see you complaining about it… wonder why?

I mean, i’d love that nerf too to be honest. It’s not as good though, doesn’t provide nearly as much utility as the VG one does with all its combined perks / benefits. It’s also broken on hit, unlike the VG one where you just stand around for 2-3s with no options and no DR (if there are multiple VG’s coordinating for a kill).

Petrifying scream can only root, fired in a short narrow cone, and the only only debuff it can give is with a hard to obtain healing debuff perk. Shockwave stuns which is worse than root, hits in a a 4 meter radius, applies weaken AND rend. This is why I’m scratching my head wondering why you’re focusing on this specifically when there’s far worse offenders. Magic weapons are already pretty garbage after the patch and we have people here complaining about some of the only useable magic abilities.

Hammer shockwave is nothing compared to scream, at least in any form of competitive group pvp. The root holds people in place for a guaranteed amount of time compared to a stun that can be knocked off by a single hit on accident around you. The healing debuff is one of the strongest abilities in the game for confirming kills especially in a game with healing as strong as it is. Any serious player is using it. I use it even though i have it on a str piece because its worth having bad stats. There is not a single ability in the game, not even ice shower pre nerf has as much kill pressure as this single ability. Getting hit by this is an instant death sentence against any competent team and it is up constantly from cdr. This single ability allows vg to be run as a secondary for literally any weapon. I could see how someone would think the weapon isn’t as strong in less coordinated play with players not as good at killing people quickly, but if any 3+ competent dps focus someone hit by scream they are going to die. And as of right now there is no other ability that can do the same.

I swear you GA/WH lemmings have never even looked at any other weapon skill trees, you only complain against weapons that you can’t just spam click against.

Musket traps can root for 3 seconds and apply rend, hatchet feral rush can root for 2 seconds, and your precious Great Axe roots on every heavy attack/pull ability now. It’s funny you even have the audacity to complain when Gravity Well exists. The scream is the only CC the VG has, meanwhile a Warhammer/Great Axe can have up to 6 CC abilities at one time.

I’m glad AGS has been going around and actually collecting Great Axe/ Hammer feedback lately, I’m looking forward for them to nerf it into the ground.

even tho you root someone with a scream you need help to kill a guy in 2-3s. it is not like you could break their stance and kill them in 2-3s using your void blade alone. plus have you ever considered ppl who don’t use the void blades and play VG as off-hand support? petrifying scream is the only get out of jail card while being chased by ppl cuz no blocking on VG and stupid weapon swap bug. VG works just fine right now. the only thing they should do is add a decreasing root duration mechanic. so you wouldn’t get chain screamed for 10s
