So i have a question, i am currently having some duells with my guildmates and i discovered that pillar of fire sometimes hits twice and sometimes it doesn’t my question now is, is this intended? should the skill hit 2 times? Because in the descirption it just says deals 135% weapon dmg
The only consistent factor you can count on is that nothing is consistent right now.
Just take it as it is and more forward.
It’s supposed to, but was a bit inconsistent. They’ve upped the damage from a single strike now on the test server, but it now only hits once. Really, about a 50% damage nerf to it. And with the nerf to intelligence damage additions to mage skills, it’s pretty huge.
its not about moving forward, this is not a complain post, i am just unsure if this is a bug and should be reported as such or if this is how the skill is supossed to work^^

ok that seems strange but i think that change/nerf is quite needed
Understood. I actually hardly ever used it because it was so freakin’ hard to hit with! When I was playing around with firestaff, it was fireball/incinerate/burnout that seemed to work for me…
its quite devastating in wars because its easy to place on point or on stunned opponents
Yeah, my hammer and great axe did pretty well against people grouped up as well. Never considered a couple hundred points of damage every 10 seconds for Pillar to be that effective. And after they took away the ability of mages to stack up some dot’s from several of them casting, the main damage always seemed to come from the groups of hammers & axes swarming in on a point.
It’s a bug, sometimes it hits 3~4 times as well, that’s why people think fire staff is busted. Also it makes refreshing fire pillar perk to go crazy and keeps procing the 13% cooldown reduction/mob hit every second (cause even if it doesn’t deal damage, seems like the pillar for some reason keeps activating in the same place you used it).
But in PTR it’s not working like this anymore, they fixed it.
I believe double hitting is not as intended. Supposedly it no longer hits twice on the PTR (but the dmg % is getting a major buff).
Not intended but I also wouldn’t ever use that in pvp.
