I told you all during alpha that this game wasnt ready and should be pushed back again, otherwise the first impressions for the release would kill the game long term. So many people argued against me. Now where those folks at?

are you surprised? companies tend to hide these numbers when their game is dying and reached a point of no return. this was to be expected to happen.

When I played on a dead server, it was depressing to look at the pitiful number of players on the server. I would log in. Chat would be dead. I’d check the server population and it would be under 100.
So… I guess they figure everyone would have a big smile on their face if they just sat in ignorance of how many people are actually running around on their server (including bots of course)
They also deleted a similar post in an attempt to censor this.
This came out of nowhere and hit like a truck!
I wanna know how many people are in my server. it aint dead yet i can say atleast.

It’s not the condition of the game at launch that’s the problem. It’s the patching madness that breaks everything every couple of weeks that’s the problem.
Every MMO has issues patching, but AGS has taken it to the next level. This is almost as bad as Funcom was when they launched Anarchy Online.
I can see why they did this. A lot of negativity is been spread and no other MMO’s show their numbers quite as transparently as New World. I think this just tend to create more ‘this game is dying’ topics, which doesn’t help the people who still want to play. Although I am dissapointed that I cant see the numbers I am also happy it might help somewhat mitigate that negativity.

I played Anarchy Online at launch what a cluster with crashing and constant rollbacks. But once it stabilized (in less time than New World going on here), it was pretty fun.

If there were rollbacks then, yes, it would be worse. Thankfully, AGS has avoided rollbacks.
Where have you seen numbers?
I never saw it of official sources, only player`s driven database.
In game launcher - since closed beta - it has always been only Low/Med/High pop , and number of players in queue …
I wonder if this is to keep folks from seeing huge population drop offs because of the housing tax being allowed to cost 10 times what we were paying due to the 90% reduction put in place over the holidays?
Either way, it isn’t a good thing to see the numbers hidden now.

the rental contract with AWS ran out i guess 
they have 21 days to kill the game completely. think they are well on track.

I don’t even know if this is intentional. As long as total player numbers can be seen on steam, what’s the point of hiding server numbers? Anyone can see that the total player numbers are in decline. Hiding server numbers only hurts the people still playing the game.

Used to play on dead server berfore merges with 100 players at peak time. Now after the merges it change to 900 to 1k players. Thats because i can see the estimated population.
Since the change i can’t see the population anymore, for me its important because i know when it hits the lowest players so i can go farm something that mostly crowded at peak time.
And one more thing,most bots are gone now it seems. But i dont want to jinx it though, fingers crossed its true
