Player counts are tumbling down- leaderboards, terrible skins and chest removals won't stop it

What’s crazy is the DEVS believe they are doing good :see_no_evil:

If any of the employees actually had a single minute of experience playing other MMOs they would know what features to put in the game.

GW2 is a great example of a game they could and SHOULD look at for inspiration but we all know that won’t happen in the near future.
There are so many QoL and UI fixes that needed to be implemented within the first 3 months of this game’s life. We are now at a point where the team desperately needs to get heaps of content in the game to keep it alive while also balancing the current content before the players riot but in reality the effort should be put into fixing pretty much every system in the game.

I strongly suggest to take the entire game down to work on it in peace and quiet for at least 1, but preferably 2-3 years. If not, I fear the majority of their staff will quit due to stress and/or depression.

The crazy thing is about allowing New World something new for PvP is that AGS already “has” all available assets to create new game modes and maps all well within the game.

I’ve said this time and time again, brainstorm on some new game modes.

King of the Hill & Capture the Flag game modes.

King of the Hill:

  • Locations (various) Windsward, Everfall, Brightwood, Reekwater ect.
Note: These locations have every available assets already developed within the game for a KotH game mode. Taking a castle, a cave, a mountain side area with lava flowing, area with snow, trees, rocks, water ect, it’s all there.

  • Players: Maximum 20 players. 1 King of the Hill winner at the end of the round.

  • Player Rewards: Exclusive PvP gear aside from the current OPR caches.

  • King of the Hill rewards: (Exclusive)

  • One (1) 600 Gear Score (Legendary, Named or non-named PvP Armor or Weapon) OR one (1) 590-599 Gear Score (Named or non-named PvP Armor or Weapon) cache.

  • 1,500 Umbral Shards

  • 1,000 Faction Tokens

  • 750 Coin

  • 10 Vials of Suspended Azoth

  • Player Respawns: 3 per player. After the third player death, player cannot respawn into the game but will be in spectate mode.

  • Weapons: Melee only.
Note: The incentive for KotH to be exclusively be a CQB game mode rather than allowing ranged weapons which would contribute to a unsatisfactory game mode since ranged and magical weapons would incite back peddling gameplay where ranged players (even pairing a melee weapon) would also promote poor gameplay experience.

  • Note #2: The area where King of the Hill would take place, after every 3 minutes, a poison “circle” would close within the area where players when caught inside the poison cloud would take on 10HP damage over time (DoT) until the player reaches safely inside the circle and the DoT poison is ended.

Capture the Flag:

  • Locations (various): Windsward, Everfall, Brightwood, Reekwater ect. For example, there are two castle fronts in Monarch’s Bluff, two can be placed apart where the castle flag is either on top or inside the castle. Player retrieves flag and attempts to return to their own castle to capture the flag. The first team of 15 to capture the flag three (3) times wins the match.
  • Players: 15 versus 15 (30 players total)
  • Weapons: All available
  • Respawns: Per death, player respawn timer is 10 seconds then player can respawn at their castle “gates”.
  • Player Rewards: TBD. I would assume since it’s PvP orientated, it would be the likes of King of the Hill. However, since both modes are different, a “exclusive” armor skin for King of the Hill Champion and Capture the Flag Champion per “Season”. Either Weekly or quarterly.

These are just my own personal thoughts and would like to see how the community (you all) would like to change or expand for either game mode. PvP is drastically needs some content and we all know this weather you’re a PvP player or not. Any and all feedback is welcomed!! Thanks all!! Let’s keep it moving…forward for New World!! :+1:

Yer dont think so, cant have a pvp mode where half the weapons are disabled lmao

Pub groups are still being vetted by the “pros”. Pub groups are still selling game content for undisclosed currency. Things must be great to block players from playing so fervently.

yee WvW is still based on the legacy server model GW2 used to run not the PvE mega server.

I think its just used as an Organisational Unit, as smaller servers are paired together, when going up against one of the more established WvW biggies, cant remember their name but good luck getting on one of them anyway

Nah: “Forged in aternum: why its hard to find new job after NW?” xd

Like 5 people wanted leaderboards

And apparently AGS liked the idea and implemented leaderboards.

Lack of content is a big issue, and terrible balance between weapons and armor. First off, for hundreds of times, I have seen light armor users jump in the middle of 5-10 other players, deal some damage, and just dodge roll into the sunset without ever being caught. I’ve also seen Bow/Musket players not move when someone is approaching them and then, once again, dodge roll for eternity when someone finally hits them. Another problem is the sheer imbalance between weapons. Sword & Shield hits like a wet noodle, Great Sword hits like a truck, and Hatchet will light attack you into oblivion, while a Bow or Musket will poke away 90% of your health in 3 shots. I mean, what the **** is up with this. Don’t even get me started with the new PvP perks. You can Slow or Stun someone, and it will last for not even a second.

Oh, and the RNG system is terrible. Nothing worse than having a lottery system that almost never rewards you fully before new content comes out—and that’s saying something since New World content is released once a year, if that. RNG is fine when it works like in other MMOs, but in New World, it is a full blown lottery. I can roll my luck 1000 times and still get not one useful item. At least other games set a limit of natural rolls before the system is forced to spit something out for you so you don’t feel like your time is being wasted, which is what happens in New World. I play Heavy because I enjoy being a tank, but this game spits out Light and Medium gear…every…time. PvP track is a joke, OPR chests are a joke, the entire RNG system in this game is a joke. I have everything set to Con/Str, so why does the game keep spitting out INT/FOC items for me? My current attribute points should give RNG some bias so that it gives me more useful stuff.

I think they count the 5 minute daily logins to refine cooldowns or to see, “yep same game”, count towards inflated. 6 figures playing daily. logging in for 5 minutes isn’t playing.

Not True. 42k is current peak.

100%, I think only 10 years in development and we have this done!

42k is the current peak in the past 30 days. This number will fall down into the 30s, in a few hours. They’re losing 30% of their player base each month. The only players not leaving are the bots.

They’re down to a 22k player peak today.

well they run out of time.

It really shows how poorly NW is doing when the peak from the past 30 days is 42k and current peak maxes around 25k.

Will they drop a bombshell on us soon to revive NW!? Possibly.

They are <5k before summer. Next patch will keep them alive or its game over.

Well I still log in to see if I can get a m+ group and there are plenty of 3rd party content sellers and “pros” running the vetted expeditions that I can’t get an invite to something more than a group I have to carry in low level mutations… Seems there are plenty of those playing that aren’t bots, but I watch the bots farm while Ifg then log out wondering why I bothered.

Looking at the numbers, the game is very well headed to shutdown if this trend continues

I’ve noticed the forums seem much less active as well. Basically just a dozen or so threads getting repeated every few days.
