I find myself playing gta online more and more often these days and by comparison it took me 2 years to accumulate the same time than I have accumulated in New World and I would like to share some key points as to what new world could learn some game features that could be in new world to satisfy much of that demograph.
GTA has pushed a solo experience into an online MMO. many of the experiences that the player has while many instances require team work to accomplish namely early heists there has been in their most recent game updates; solo-able quests that dont require any particular order of operation which include:
no order mandated objectives,
optional objectives that may help tip the scales of difficulty in the players favour for example disruption missions
assassination missions where a contact has requested that a target is eliminated but will offer a bonus if killed in a certain way
business missions (random location quests that flagged players can compete over for resources for their personal businesses and can be sold later. npc’s will defend the resources from all players PVE. player can attack and steal another player for their resource or if there is more they can avoid a confrontation and collect one of the other 10 resources PVP)
personal transportation (mounts or gliders in the game, brings up cosmetic item opportunities in the store and therefore more revenue for ags and would satisfy many customers bare minimum requirements.)
mobile base transportation (having a house is great, what about a mobile caravan for deliveries between territories or smugglings missions complete with its own storage and crafting station which can move around the world at the risk of being destroyed. having a renesaunce man like leonardo divinci building a large work shop with block and tackle cranes and gantries for asthetics to build and store caravans while they aren’t being used as vehicle spawn/despawn tool would be heavily appreciated.)
naval warfare (cruising around in a boat or submarine while others do the same and trying to blow each other up is a lot of fun and opens up for even more pvp and pve content)
giving the players the choice to take on missions that are regarded as a good samaritan or evil doer. we are privateers in the colonial maritime after all. things were very much the wild west on the waters.
stealthy assassinations (cant have them in the same way gta does melee, but if the player stays out of combat for a full 60 seconds I dont see why stealth kills would be a bad thing for killing players and low tier enemies.)
Dude GTA ONLINE is literally the most trash game ever.
Its basically 100% hackers in EVERY game session. The hackers in GTA ONLINE have been using the same hack engine for the last 10+ years.
Ejecting you from your car while you driving so they can catch up to you an kill you. Switch between passive and active mode during PVP to avoid damage. AIMBOT. Locking you into an infinite death loop in the game session making it unplayable. The hackers can insta kill everyone on the server and blame you for doing it. The hackers can even teleport themselves anywhere on the map right at your missions drop off point. They wait there to kill you to make your missions fail.
GTA ONLINE is probably not even a safe game to play because the hack engines can locate your IP the hackers can follow you from session to session.
GTA ONLINE is under the control of hackers.
I think ROCKSTARS GAMES cares close to zero percent about hackers. Thats why ROCKSTAR GAMES GTA ONLINE is trash but the GTA single player is great.
and yet it still offers more in gameplay wise than new world on a game design stand point. character customization, clothing and attire but most importantly its just more fun I find. I dont argue the bugs and glitches, but its the game modes and objective structure that I’m focusing on in this post. to focus on the broad view on how GTA is; is not really worth the debate because thats not a goal to become GTA the goal is to take some great ideas that GTA has done and put a New World spin on the concept. instead of the current design for NW which is simply go here and kill / collect 5 things and forget putting an obstacle in between the player and the objective because that would follow a basic game design mechanic.
ags though process, “its better to just make the player walk for 15 minutes in one direction pick up an objective over and over and then walk another 15 minutes back.”
You can’t PVP in GTA ONLINE in any fair way because they are too many hackers plus when you die you basically get spawn point camped because GTA ONLINE does not spawn you far enough away from your attackers. There is nothing good to be learn from a PVP perspective from GTA ONLINE.

also if you just fill up your lobby with 32 friends then no hacker can even enter the room. just add people that complain about hacking. send them private messages. the list builds up pretty quick and people will just join on you after a while.
If rockstar games wants me to play GTA ONLINE again they got to pay me 10000 USD. Never going back to GTA ONLINE unless payed 10k USD. Its that bad. It could have been great but ROCKSTAR GAMES does not have enough commitment to stop cheating.
Rockstar is an equally terrible company but the difference is that they’ve made good games, they just don’t support them or spend money on things like cheating/modding.
The single player GTA is great 10/10 amazing story. I have played almost every GTA single player game and they all really good story. Can’t wait for GTA 6 but GTA ONLINE is infested with toxic hackers that make it unplayable.
