FF14 is one of the most popular MMOs right now. They had to delete their entire servers and start fresh because the release was so bad.
Yup, indeed. I was there for the initial launch, shutdown & betas of Reborn. I am there right now, even though I like new world more & play new world way more. NW is 4 months old, these people are all spoiled by games that have years of patches behind them, probably did not even play those games until they had been out for a long time.
New World is brand new, it is like the wild west, we are experiencing the infancy of an MMORPG which does not happen all that often for people. It is best to enjoy it & look forward to the solid foundation being even better as time goes on, however, the entitled people simply do not know appreciation.
Im wondering what they imagined releasing 120 new bugs and fixing none
People afraid to play mutations because of bug that throws you out of map or deleting you entire gear permanently. In normal world those would be resolved by Customer Service, but in AGS Customer Service are bots only - and know only how to Copy Paste replies like - “Sorry for inconvinience please delete your character and create new one - we cant help you”.
I think everyone came in with the understanding that this was a new game and would have its kinks to work out. I don’t think anyone came in with the understanding that this game was made by a junior developer team.
- without any QA team. Like there is 0 testing on this game.
They can barely do a patch and you are talking about expansions? Wow.
“ilikethisgame”
Man AGS is getting really lazy with the bots.
A lot of people died in the wild west.
Dysentery.
Watching? More like being on it while it’s going down.
I’m the old style where I don’t like bugs and paying for elite to have better gear. I realise I’m somewhat of a traditionalist in that sense.
In my analogy I view the employees at AGS being inside that plane. It was someone else’s job (much higher up the food chain) to keep that unsafe plane from flying…
I called it a 100 car pileup but if it is a plane I jumped with my parchute. Safely watching the continued destruction.
What? All old mmos had exactly this. Shit tons of bugs, and elitist controlling spawns / camps etc. maybe I’m just misreading your use of traditional.
Oh, so this is your First MMORPG & you are just used to playing single-player games on a console? I see. Well, welcome to MMORPG, where the genre is long-tail & takes a good year or more for a game to work out kinks! The only exception to that has always been games which are localization ports of games that have already been out for years in other places before they come west.
No one enjoying this game in the multitudes a year from now will miss or remember the people who hated on it from a place of inexperience today.
This is extremely condescending. We’re not even talking about MMORPGs at this point. We’re talking about a company that released a product way too early.
This plane should not have taken off…
No, they did not release the product way too early. Call of Duty Multiplayer is full of bugs, yearly, until 3 months before the next one, every year, with over 15 years of development behind it & being a tiny, tiny game in comparison to New World. Only recently has Call of Duty Multiplayer even remotely begun to add in the content breadth of skins for weapons & players to even start to compare to the sort of content-rich, customization-heavy games that MMORPGs are.
We get it, you have only played old imports from other localizations that had a head start for years before you even knew they existed or local games years after they launched. Well, welcome, again, to MMORPG, I hope you enjoy the genre, where launches are rough & I can not name a game that ever did any better.
Do you suggest a shutdown, a firing & hiring wave, a rebuild from the ground up? Lol, absurd. Relax & give it time. We already knew that February is bugs & bots month. We were told in December & this month alike. Complain less, expect less, appreciate what is there: The best foundation for an MMORPG in a decade.
Are there problems? Hell yes. Are they working on it? That, too.
Please read the original post. In my analogy the employees at AGS are in this plane. I genuinely hope they are all ok.
This plane should not have taken off…
I’ve never seen a plain crash. All the ones I’ve seen were pretty dramatic.
The other thing to keep in mind. AGS is not Call of Duty, nor is it Final Fantasy. Both of those games have huge franchises behind them. Call of Duty Multiplayer is just one slice of the pie for Activision, and a small one at that. Final Fantasy 14 is just one slice of the pie for Square Enix, and a small one at that.
Other MMORPGs that are now successful also started out when the genre was still maturing. The MMORPG genre has matured a lot since those games and there are certain things that are less excusable now than when it was the first time anyone had seen it (HTML chat bug).
