They can barely do a patch and you are talking about expansions? Wow.
“ilikethisgame”
Man AGS is getting really lazy with the bots.
A lot of people died in the wild west.
Dysentery.
Watching? More like being on it while it’s going down.
I’m the old style where I don’t like bugs and paying for elite to have better gear. I realise I’m somewhat of a traditionalist in that sense.
In my analogy I view the employees at AGS being inside that plane. It was someone else’s job (much higher up the food chain) to keep that unsafe plane from flying…
I called it a 100 car pileup but if it is a plane I jumped with my parchute. Safely watching the continued destruction.
What? All old mmos had exactly this. Shit tons of bugs, and elitist controlling spawns / camps etc. maybe I’m just misreading your use of traditional.
Oh, so this is your First MMORPG & you are just used to playing single-player games on a console? I see. Well, welcome to MMORPG, where the genre is long-tail & takes a good year or more for a game to work out kinks! The only exception to that has always been games which are localization ports of games that have already been out for years in other places before they come west.
No one enjoying this game in the multitudes a year from now will miss or remember the people who hated on it from a place of inexperience today.
This is extremely condescending. We’re not even talking about MMORPGs at this point. We’re talking about a company that released a product way too early.
This plane should not have taken off…
No, they did not release the product way too early. Call of Duty Multiplayer is full of bugs, yearly, until 3 months before the next one, every year, with over 15 years of development behind it & being a tiny, tiny game in comparison to New World. Only recently has Call of Duty Multiplayer even remotely begun to add in the content breadth of skins for weapons & players to even start to compare to the sort of content-rich, customization-heavy games that MMORPGs are.
We get it, you have only played old imports from other localizations that had a head start for years before you even knew they existed or local games years after they launched. Well, welcome, again, to MMORPG, I hope you enjoy the genre, where launches are rough & I can not name a game that ever did any better.
Do you suggest a shutdown, a firing & hiring wave, a rebuild from the ground up? Lol, absurd. Relax & give it time. We already knew that February is bugs & bots month. We were told in December & this month alike. Complain less, expect less, appreciate what is there: The best foundation for an MMORPG in a decade.
Are there problems? Hell yes. Are they working on it? That, too.
Please read the original post. In my analogy the employees at AGS are in this plane. I genuinely hope they are all ok.
This plane should not have taken off…
I’ve never seen a plain crash. All the ones I’ve seen were pretty dramatic.
The other thing to keep in mind. AGS is not Call of Duty, nor is it Final Fantasy. Both of those games have huge franchises behind them. Call of Duty Multiplayer is just one slice of the pie for Activision, and a small one at that. Final Fantasy 14 is just one slice of the pie for Square Enix, and a small one at that.
Other MMORPGs that are now successful also started out when the genre was still maturing. The MMORPG genre has matured a lot since those games and there are certain things that are less excusable now than when it was the first time anyone had seen it (HTML chat bug).
I choose to believe you. They are certainly working in trying conditions for creatives; they are forced to mostly work from home right now AFAIK. I reviewed your post history, you typically post concerns or bugs & I saw no malice in anything else you have written. You have been positive enough that negative members have targeted you in the past. So do not take the things I said too personally; however realize that as far as large AAA MMORPG goes, this game has not had the worst launch, not by a long shot.
FWIW, this can look like malice, which is why so many people jumped on the bandwagon they thought you were starting here. It is clear to me that it was a poor choice of words, which invited haters to do what haters gon’ do. So the people who thought you were bashing & joined in, they should probably take everything I said rather personally.
It saddens me, however, to consider the analogy itself. A plane crash? Pretty dark, fren. Not like your usual posts, that I can tell you.
Well, you gotta keep in mind, FFXIV is a clone of wow in a Final-Fantasy-Suit. Where that game is tried & true, it is also pretty dated & stale. I am subscribed to it, it is so. New World, there really is not anything else out there like it right now. So one can forgive the time it takes to get down the runway. When you launch, that is when you hit the runway. We haven’t seen this baby fly yet; still getting up to speed. Again, this is true for all MMORPGs at launch. New World is doing better than most!
Your example, of FF14, launched in 2010, was shut down & completely rebuilt due to how bad it was & how bad the systems performed in it, relaunched 2012/2013. Even that game, even under the then [& arguably still] behemoth of Square Enix & the funding that the franchise & name Final Fantasy warranted & afforded it, had a worse launch than New World.
New World is doing just fine. It is not half-baked or beta; it is not “not ready”. It is a live service. They tend to get better with time & quality feedback.
I am glad you are not one of the people who hate the game to hate it. Give it some more time.
Am I frustrated with some of the bugs at times? Seeing a picture of feathers when I pick up a mote? Yeah. I also know that it is par for the course & that I am lucky to be in from the beginning, looking forward to what it can become.
I saw the new known issues thread & was taken aback by it. However, when I read it, I realized these are a new compilation of long-known bugs, most of which are not serious.
The recent inventory/crafting thing was “How did that even happen? How does that go live?” as well, admittedly. Someone must have forgotten to push something or did not tell someone else they did it. They are apparently not working in an office dynamic right now, so a lot of that is probably happening.
Ugh! Subtle smoothness.
You are watching a ship sink… while the passengers point out the holes in the boat… where the next holes are going to spring a leak… AND rather than the crew patching those holes, they grab a cannon and shoot more holes in the boat, while the executives on the bridge high five each other for having created such a great vessel.
He is not a bot, just an individual with literally the most insane, far right ideas in the world.
Check his thread history, he literally made a post talking about how New World is representative of leftists vs the god fearing right.
On god, I can’t make this kind of crazy up.
