I would like it to be more obvious what ideas are bad or unsupported by the community. A dislike button on here would be a great way to show who likes and dislikes ideas

Ahhhh yes
dislike buttons are worthless. a study was done that over 70% of users downvote something because they A: dont like the poster or B: content/argument goes against their own bias, not an objective opinion of whether something is good or bad
only few downvote the comment/video if its inappropriate or trolling, toxic, illegal etc.
a good example is, say someone HATES dogs. they might downvote a dog video of a dog saving a baby from a flood, simply because they hate dogs.
orange man could say the sky is blue, and people will downvote it simply because orange man bad, even though he is correct
to be fair, i also think likes/upvotes should be removed as well.

its useful only to market researchers, not the general public. i dont care if someone likes brandon or blompsffts, its irrelevant to me. however the internet and social media has fooled people into thinking their opinion is important and must be heard by everyone, which is simply not the case.
simply downvoting something because you dont like the poster or content is a misuse of it. its intent was to bury unrelated comments in a thread, like if were discussing cupcakes and then some idiot starting talking about his honda.
and since almost everyone now misuses said feature, its best to just remove it and hide it from everyone except those who can profit off it.
Can we please change the forums to ONLY the dislike button? Thank you!
