I dont think we need mounts right now. Mby when the map expands and it will cost more to fast travel. I do also hate to run around the map sometimes but I think that if we had mounts it would make the map feel very small.
Yeah suppose you are right, but enlighten me on how a mount will help over fast travelling, surely mobs would still attempt to attack your character perhaps blocking your mount from moving forward, or did you mean something you could ride that also had an attack.
Yeah, but most of the time i have to travel to like 4 citys to craft and my azoth is 0 mostly.
You can’t run through a mountain with your mount either.
I honestly dont know what they could do to fix the small issues with being attacked all the time while traveling. I do want a better way to travel but its kind of a grey area for me.
every MMO with mounts thats worth their salt wont allow to mount up while in combat.
we have run comparisons in map scale and moving speed during beta - running in NW between neighbouring settlements is equal or faster than riding a ground mount in WoW between neighbouring region hubs.
Im not opposed to mounts, but they should not run faster than we already do. This would (even further) trivialize the content
That is true, fast travelling can get expensive, my own solution is to check in at an inn at one end of the map while playing at the other, if my Azoth gets low and I need to travel back I can recall to inn.
Or simply have two sets of tools, of whichever one that grants Azoth and farm that for 10 minutes and you’ll be gucchi to travel.
I keep one sickle that grants azoth and my main sickle that has luck etc on it, if I need azoth, I gather everything around me and drop it if I don’t want to go back and sell, and boom. Never have had an Azoth problem ever since I started the game
Enjoy the view brother
I could if I had a giant mole mount.
Bro I’m not even kidding, I have most of the time 800/1K Azoth, and I prefer walking over fast travel, unless I’m really annoyed by something then I do fast travel, most of the time I travel by FOOT, and ENJOY the view, gather rare things and explore, and just have fun. Time passes before you know it, even though I’m into PvP i’m also into exploring and gathering, and just taking the minute by its seconds, not rushing it.
Never had an Azoth problem, or a gold problem, sitting with 167K coins currently after buying a new house yesterday dropped a bit, and Azoth almost always full without ever buying an vial of suspended azoth, actually selling every one I find. Never used that blue stuff!
Look I’m not gonna say mounts would be not fun in this game, it definitely would be, but it has to be created and developed, in a proper way, where I think it would fit the game,
1; You would have mount stations where you could borrow mounts from an NPC etc, or have your own mount that you keep with you, and leave it at a certain place in the woods where you have to go back to it by using the map.
2: It can’t be a mount where you summon by clicking a hotkey, unless its a mount powered by the Azoth with a huge cooldown timer that allows you to warp the mount to you.
3: You should be able to use your bow on the mount and musket, spear and sword, certain strength skill points to use two handed ones!
4: I can’t stress this enough, it can’t be a hotkey mount, it has to fit into the world, you can’t just have it all over the place everywhere, if it’s an Azoth mount, it has to have a nice flow into the game world, and fit the world New World is, it would suck to have it disappear and appear from your bag like any other MMO.
5: We would have cargo’s attached to our mounts to travel, load up items and what not to trade to another city, however we would need an introduction of npc’s that acts like body guards if you pay for it and or have faction members, group members assist you with the cargo trading, because you will automatically be flagged for PvP when doing so, people can raid you, and take a %'d of what you travel with after succesfully being able to destroy the cargo and kill all of you!
We would have so much fun, but hey, it has to be those 5 points, else no.
Mounted combat sounds like fun.
Yep, well I missed several fishes typing this, I want to get back to my fishing to finish my endless task!

We’re getting there lads!! Broken hands, broken will, but soon, the mighty kraken will appear to be slayed
good luck
Mounts are coming - for what must be the 20th time since the Live forums opened - just not yet:
Scot Lane: I think right now our world isn’t of the size that warrants mounts. When we do get there with the live game, that’s gonna happen at some point, we’ll add mounts when we feel players will benefit from them and we can do them in a really cool way that works for us.
Thank you, it’s finally done lads!

Phew, and now to continue fish and have fun! Lol!
But back to the topic in all honesty, I do agree with the world not being large enough for mounts yet, it’s okay as it is now, I love the exploration!!
Bro…why are you worried about hotkeys…we can literally fish entire treasure chest out of the lake and put in our back pocket…summoning a mount from a hotkey isn’t that far fetched.
if people think not being able to swim is stupid, just wait till they can summon mounts out of thin air.
If, IF, mounts got added to the game, I think it would need some big limitations to keep them focused on long term travel and not short term convenience. After all, people moving faster is an obvious disadvantage to all potential initiators in wpvp, and this is a pvp-centric game after all.
My idea?
First, implement stables in towns as an upgradable station like all the others, and implement a skill for raising horses (or even animals overall so I can farm more meat/eggs/milk for cooking).
Second, using the same code that makes a landmark a designated area, do the same with all roads and maybe give-or-take 10-20 meters on either side of them, designating them as a road.
Then, horses move pretty darn quick, but won’t leave the area designated as a road, and if you leave a road you dismount, leaving your horse where it is.
If you venture more than 100 meters from your horse, the horse heads back to the nearest stable.
Also, the horse itself can be killed by other players, on or off of it, immediately returning it to the stables and placing a cooldown on it while it heals.
The horse’s base HP, defenses, and speed all scale with your raising of it.
Better stables can hold an additional horse (in case one gets hurt) and/or increase efficiency of raising your horse.
Make mounts a part of the game that feels like a mini-management system rather than a “boo-hoo I have to walk please give me a horde Mr Bezos” freebie. Make it help solve travel, but have weaknesses that can be exploited in pvp. That is, if they make mounts at all. Personally, I am fine as is because I am a melee (non great axe) and it’s hard enough to catch pvp opponents as is.
