Generally think they are more grayscale, browns, and maybe could get away with some dark greens if you consider plant-life/mosses being involved to help it blend in with the surroundings.

You could add hippos to non swamp areas with ponds. Make them swim with eyes and nose above water and lunge at people within 5/10m.
Give them only thick hide.

I also think it’s a tough balance because you would have to scale them for different areas. I’m sure you could get the numbers right but we don’t want new players getting drowned to death right from the get-go so you might want to restrict to higher level areas I think.
I have been thinking of @Shadow_Fox post and perhaps we could have more interesting colored hippos in Edengrove? That area has an interesting color palette that could allow for more interesting diversity but not take away from game immersion. Thoughts on this?

What if the hippos could fly ? Getting butted off the side of a cliff by a flying hippo would make things more interesting.

Hopefully not spamming your inbox to much (sorry). Wanted to see if there is any update as to whether or not hippos in general have been brought to the attention of the developers. Like if a report has been written and submitted to them and if possible any thoughts they have for or against the idea so we can discuss as a community.
You can totally scrap my quest idea altogether, it might not be of the quality necessary for an update or how new creatures will be added to the game. But! maybe knowing if there are any barriers to adding hippos, that would be cool. I feel that they would make the game more immersive and as a community we love these big beefy bois (and girls!).
Take my quest. Break it down. Shatter it into pieces! We can rebuild it, make it better and come up with something awesome together. Still struggling with balancing these majestic and OP beasts, but I don’t think something being too OP has held back game developers in the past.

Thanks for posting, this is super interesting.
To be fully transparent, we have discussed hippos as a mob in Aeternum and while I can’t confirm any work will start soon or at all, I can say that I really like this idea and definitely appreciate the suggestion.
