You can only engage players who are 10 levels within your level. Thought?
@eclipsegamingsupply PVP scaling would have helped with that scenario, but was introduced after they switched to PVP-optional. We’ve never had perma-PVP with scaling.
TLDR Please do this Amazon.
I’m sure most take offense to the comparisons between wow and new world but there’s is a lot of general similarities in game play style at least. It feels to me like Amazon is choosing to avoid creating any similar features just for the sake of being different. I love what amazon has done so far but blizzard has been at this a long time and they also have a massive player base constantly suggesting things. Worlds should be PvP or PvE/RP labeled just like wow. In PvP servers your always flagged and in pve it’s essentially the way it is now.
We Need PvP Servers!
sure… it’s all the PVE players fault, and before you say it, i am a pvper as well…
One of the problems we observed with this system was that some high level players were killing low level players, A LOT. Sometimes exclusively. This often led to solo or group griefing scenarios that created a toxic environment for many players. To be clear, this behavior was not shown by all PvP players, but enough to cause significant issues.
We set out to build a compelling world full of danger and opportunity that begs to be explored. The intended design was never to allow a small group of players to bully other players. Based on what we saw, we realized that we needed to make fundamental changes and not just incremental fixes, (which we tried several times during the Closed Alpha).
There has been speculation that we have moved away from PvP, this isn’t the case at all. PvP is important to us and we are committed to ensuring it plays a significant role in our game. To be specific, by PvP we mean, fair fights that are organized, skill based, and opted into by all participants. Not PKing (Player Killing), which is a predatory behavior that relies on exploiting another player’s lack of experience, progress, readiness, or willingness. So for those folks who desire that harsh PVP environment, New World may not be your favorite game, however, we do hope you enjoy the PVP we will offer. We are unlikely to provide PVP-only servers as it would divide our development resources and community, We could investigate this again at a later date but it’s not something we are going to support at launch. We believe that the changes and improvements we’ve made to the game since the Closed Alpha are far more compelling for the majority of players.
the gankers in alpha made the change, almost 2 years ago, dec 2019, not a few months before launch.
You beat me to it, thank you.
The reality is that PvP players created a toxic environment. Calling PvE players toxic for complaining about the toxic environment that PvP players created is nonsense. Moreover, it doesn’t change the fact that the way PvP works right now (the flagging) is in response to how PvP players acted. If you (the general you) spent more time policing PvP players and less blaming PvE players you might find that more people would want to PvP. Some of you do this and do a really good job of it (@Cheallaigh and @Rumblex) but not nearly enough of you do. Frankly, when I read these threads I can pick out the PKers, y’all just out yourselves left and right.
In conclusion, as a PvE centric player, I am all for PvP servers if that’s gonna make you guys happy and complain less.
Yes. That is all.
AFAIK there was nothing but PvP back then, but it was so, so hardcore AGS decided to scrap the idea and transform the game into a cooperative PvE experience with completely optional PvP instead. My bet is that not even 10% of the people who ask for “PvP servers” would play in one for the long term. It’s obviously not fun for those getting roflstomped and certainly not fun for those roflstomping others either.
That said, I agree with you in that AGS should create at least one 100% PvP server in each region just for science, and for the laughs (or cries).
Why would he give you a reason that there shouldn’t be PvP servers. He has been agreeing that he’d like to see them (its just he has a different reason for wanting to see them).
LEARN. TO. READ.
Right? I stopped caring, just give them the server and let’s see how the shitshow goes.
I am a simple person, I see a post about adding PVP servers - I like and write a support comment.
I think open up a PvP server that u can free transfer to at level 40 (just so u dont get a gank fest on people leveling) and people dont have to restart aswell which will annoy alot of people.
How about you are automatically flagged when you walk into other faction areas…
It feel so strange that you have all these faction waking through and next to each other…
make 3 areas that can never be flipped for each faction…Then make a whole bunch of areas that you can conquer and it gives you buffs and benefits…and if you walk into an area that is not your faction…you are automatically flagged… so only your own territories are safe…
Yes, the current map is not suitable so it must be an expansion
OR
Make every third hour a war hour where everyone gets flagged…the next 2 hours is peace time… (like in Arch Age)
Because that would drive most players to quit. “Guess I can’t do the main quest because yellow owns Brightwood”.
The factions are not in open war with each other. It’s more like the US, Russia, and China. They don’t like each other and have differing ideas as to how things should be run, but they don’t actively attack each other for the most part. Otherwise, why do the controlling factions allow their opposing factions to maintain their representatives in town?
On PVP server: to make it safe for beginner players without fear of being ganked at low level is not that hard.
From level 0 to level 40 or 50 have PVP flagg as a choice, after that PVP always on, your ganking problem is solved.
I honestly, don’t understand how faction wars fit into this scenario at all. Like… there is blight and corruption but somehow we are fighting each other and making ourselves weaker against the corruption and blight (like if we were actually dying). Its like in horror movies when two characters have sex, I’m over here screaming at the TV “YOU HAVE BIGGER STUFF TO WORRY ABOUT!!!” If I am stuck on an Island where literally everything is trying to kill me, I’m not spending my time killing the other poor souls stuck there with me.
PvP people had their shot and blew it years ago.
This is so true. PvP in video games used to be respectful.
These days any game that is full PvP is just Rust, or GTA all over again. Look at what happened to Red Dead Redemption Online. There was a time when people would look at another player and go, “Man, he’s 15 levels lower than me, I’m just gonna let him be.” They’d move on and find someone closer to their own level to fight. Those days are gone, this generation of “git gud” players has destroyed PvP, because to them “Git Gud” means you mob up with a bunch of others until you’re the one picking on the poor new bastards. I just don’t get it. Doubt I ever will.
That said I say go on with the PvP servers. Let those who love Rust have their Rust game. Let those of us who want to play in a respectful community have it. Where we can PvP like we did in the 90’s before it got turned into a giant turd.
This. That should tell you something. And no, it’s not “force players to be my content”
what does having a pvp server have to do with ‘nerfing the game for a playstyle’? how can you be so fucking ignorant? You can keep everything as it is. why is so so hard to understand that others would like to play the game in a different (and much better working) way. I’m not demanding the game to be changed to PvP. I just want a handful of servers for people like me who like to play pvp and don’t want to fight for people who don’t paticipate but profit from it.
The entire game, the economy the gathering and so many of the mechanics make much more sense in an only pvp environment.
Besides the points i mentioned above It would be way more challenging to improve your character on a more hostile server. There are people who want exactly that challenge (me included). It’s about succeding in a harder environment.
I don’t get why that is such a problem for some people. why would you even argue against it in such a toxic and emotional way? why do people have to tilt so hard and call others bluepilled, cherrypicking and some other alt-right sounding crap because of this simple suggestion? why can we not just keep the servers as they are for the casual part of the community and make other servers for people who really want to play the game in a more tryhard and for them much more fullfilling way. where is the problem?
why is that so hard for the toxic PvE crowd to understand? why are you guys so extremely selfish about this? we don’t want to fight your wars for you. we don’t want to play on safe and easy mode. why do you you demand that they keep us on your servers? I really don’t get it.
