Please nerf the cast time (after switching weapons) and duration of Petrifying Scream

Calling for nerfs to weapons/abilities is getting way out of hand. You ppl sound like infants. Just cause a player beats you in PvP doesn’t mean you run to the message boards and scream nerf. Who are you? Do you have access to internal numbers on abilities/weapons to make such broad requests?

Newsflash, there are better players out there than you. Complaining to knock them down a peg is not going to change your ability, nor boost your power like you want. It is beyond silly at this point. Today’s MMO gamer would have never survived in 99. All I see is a bunch of self intitled, participation trophy brats.

If you read the thread, people bring up good points of why the VGs scream should be nerfed. We aren’t just whining, we are bringing good points. If you can’t be bothered to read and respond to them, keep quiet.

add something around 0.25/0.5 sec cast time to both spell

Remove root from the game. I mean I get it. It is something that they included for bad players so they can remain competitive. However it is completely broken and has no place in this game, there is no counter to it. Unless they allow you to use skills to get out of it, it should be removed completely.

I don’t see you’r point, if you can dodge the root on reaction (wich is not the case right now)
then if you get it you should get punish no ? Idk but i would give the same argument for stun and cc in general. (althought all slow defenetly need a buff on the % of slow or on duration of it, probably both)

I haven’t thought about that. The ability is very strong in wars, and has a huge AOE radius. It does have a long telegraphed animation and can be fletched/evaded out of, so it isnt as effective in 1v1s. Maybe the grav well should be tweaked, but I don’t know how.

Idk how that is relevant to the VG though. All roots and stuns have a telegraphed animation to make it dodgable, the VG is an exception. That’s why the pre attack animation on the VG needs to be longer.

VG is a melee mage hybrid with no mobility. That 2/3 sec root that your referring to is called balance. Other weapon classes have some form of mobility/CC. If you took away the root, they are sitting ducks. Also, in order to land that root you have to be in the face of your target (as a mage).

I am sure the devs took this into consideration as they developed the weapon and are attempting to balance the game. Getting beat by any weapon class and running to the forums screaming nerf when you have no clue what is going on behind the scenes is just silly and self serving.

The devs have already made it abundantly clear they want an over tuned item with 0 counter play in the game. Great axe was a thing for how many weeks?

As soon as void gauntlet came out, great axe gets nerfed in the PTR.

This is not a coincidence, some dev is playing void gauntlet and he wants to shit on noobs.

Suck it up and play what the lead balance designer is playing or shut up because the balance is never going to be good, they have shown this time and time again. There will always be 1 objectively correct weapon to use, and if you don’t use it, enjoy hardmode.

Thanks for editing your comment with useful feedback. I don’t mind the duration of the root. The animation of the scream is too fast. All stuns in the game have a long animation before the stun/root is actually thrown out. Petrifying scream’s cast time is too difficult to react too, and should be as long as the other stuns/roots in the game.

Too fast? It can only be casted at a closest distance, as opposed to Gravity Well and they almost have the same casting time.

Increasing its cast duration would render Petrifying Scream useless, impossible to hit vs good players.

I posted this up the thread. The gist of it is that all weapons have some sort of difficulty with landing a stun, or even a way of escaping the stun. The scream is a close range, non-telegraphed ability that roots for a significant amount of time.

I don’t think petrifying scream would be useless if the length of the cast animation is increased. The cast animation should be on-par with other stuns/roots in the game, I am not asking for it to be longer than other stuns, it should be about the same.

In general, it is hard to hit good players with any stun. Petrifying scream shouldn’t be an exception to this.

BRADLEY also had a good suggestion for fixing the petrifying scream here. I think this is a great solution as well. I don’t mind buffing other aspects of the petrifying scream, but the cast time is OP right now.

IMO Void Blade is the only thing that needs tuned. Even with its buggy hit detection its performance is to much causing VG to have insane sustain Full Int.
