It’s actually embarrassing how the musket has gotten this bad that every other post on the forums is about deleting the musket from the game. Yet the devs turn their ears off and ignore the issue at hand saying nothing is wrong.
I dunno what level of internal politics is going on at AGS on this, but clearly the vast majority of the community agrees the musket needs a rework. It’s probably the worst DPS weapon in pve, and the most oppressive weapon in PVP. It just shows its poor game design. Whatever designer is responsible for this needs to bite the bullet and realize he/she made a mistake. It’s OK, it just needs to be fixed. Preferably in 2023.
Let’s not remove a weapon just because people have been cheating with it.
New players like myself like the musket; it’s just a cool weapon to use to have a gun to shoot a wolf in the wild.
Tuning stuff as necessary/reworking stuff is cool and fine.
But don’t take out the only longer-range gun in a pirate game…
ngl. since they suspended the muskets abilities… OPR has been more fun last day or so. Seeing a lot less musket gods lately (which makes me wonder how much of this exploit was being abused prior to its popularity).
I see a lot of calls for X weapon to be nerfed and hell in frustration I will echo “god damn GS needs to be nerfed” when i die - much like many of you do
But i am dead serious. Muskets are just an odd choice into this game. They are just wide open to aimbotter adoption and scummy tactics.
If i wanted to play Division2 i’d play division 2 is all i am saying.
Musket is fine, the problem is the bandwagon mentality of people. Bow has far more utility and power. No one gets one or even 2 shot with a musket like over powered melee does to players. Not to mention healers indestructible especially to muskets.
When you have 2 fully upgraded melee and a healer destroy 10 players on a point that is an issue. Targetting healer and they just shrug it off and laugh at your measly 2000 damage if you are lucky and get a crit.
Nonsense, musket only has range as a perk period. That is it. The damage is not even spectacular. You have to be pretty bad player to die to one and most of the kills you see are from poorly geared players or the last shot on a damaged target.
TTK in this game is a huge issue across all fronts. I think the frustration stems from musket players having low risk but high damage and contribute heavily to TTK. The terrain in OPR can be abused with potato mode, so hiding and avoidance is nerfed. Latency doesn’t play a role (we have a lot of SEA players in AP who are on a 200ms ping, but somehow get headshots over and over - cough aimbot cough) … its just a weapon that leaves itself open to some scummy behaviours atm.
If somehow they find a rythmn here that reduces the above, sure, but in its current form its just a scaleable solution for scummy behaviour. Not all musket players are scum bags, there are some good talented mofos who know how to use them fairly… but in my exp…they are very much the minority of players I see.
After 12am on Eridu/Delos …suddenly everyones a god musket tier player with amazing accuracy and reflexes in OPR (but i never see them in 3v3 or Open World fights )
Muskets suck is why they are not in Arena, instadeath to 3 man death squad melee with healer.
Remove all crowd control from melee weapons and only have caster class have CC. Who thought Bleed, Stagger, Stun, Knock down, Rend, Slow, Debuff on melee was smart?
Guns don’t kill people, people kill people argument… i’m just gonna hold up my “its stupid weapon sign” and leave it at that
TTK is the end point here… nobody really gets excited on both sides when it was “i ran for 30sec-to-4mins to be killed in 10sec” as being a rewarding dopamaine rush engagement.
What fights we do remember were those close calls between others and the playing field was somewhat felt to be level. TTK lasted longer and felt more engaging.
Nothing worse when you’re up against the rival melee contending with all those things you mentioned to feel 2 shots in the back from a musket player not even visible in your screen … its like “ok…well… ok… i guess this fun…”
I am sure that there at least 20 bad players in OPR each time the 5 man musket aimbot players play right? Cause they average 50 kills each with less than 5 deaths
Sure! Only poor players die to musket so everytime other than you dieing to other players means that player is bad. Typical explanation
That’s a problem with you guys, you are so picky, so slaved to GA/WH meta that is insane… You refuse to pick a weapon to counter other weapon because your blessed meta doesn’t allow it, so you want others to be weak rather than taking notes from your build weaknesses and adjust build
Situation where 2 bruisers and healer destroy 10 others are possible only in narrow paths + these 10 must be in light armor and glass cannon stats. Where glass cannon are very popular nowadays. Most of people run with ~50-100 con and light armor.
And then there comes great surprise and complaints that muskets kills in 3 shots
like… what are they expecting? To facetank 10 musket shots? (I guess so)
@Xalyim No haven’t you heard? Nerf every weapon in the game so that one melee can at least 1 v 3 and win. In this game if a bruiser can’t 1 v 3 and come out on top it’s an issue. For real, you can’t make this stuff up!
Yea but Its not an issue. I play 300 int/200 con and still sometimes I just cant leave base because I die instantly after 3-4 shots… I have 20% thurst, 10% elemental even witb extra 25% powder I just can go far enough to find cover. Its 3k, 3k, 3k healing potion + 4,2k, 3k, healing tomb, 3k, 3k, 3k and I dont even know where he shots from xd They farm stacks on these glass cannon and later they wipe everyone around.

I’m fine with all ranged weapons just not this one. I mean, if AGS are easily swayed to abandon a feature design based off a forum post. Then… back to that leadership nomination… i need this power… it will round out my ego even further.
First order of business a newly sworn leader of “you people” . Delete muskets… then… if there is enough currency in the leadership space, I’ll find a way to buff all my fav weapons so i get instant kill button for me…and me alone.

Oooh right…so thats where we met… i knew you looked familiar… So as a member of this herd who’s been there for a long time…so whats the cadence of meetups… and is there catering at the meetups or do i need to BYO. What have you been doing in these meetings prior to my arrival?
