I hope so.
As a Bruiser I agree, Fire Staff is the last weapon deserving a nerf.
A lot of mages are running around with 20% empower b/c of the Meteor Shower bug. If fire staff is being nerfed because of data that is skewed b/c of a bug (which will be fixed next patch) then it’s obvious the nerfs are not a good idea.
For everyone who says it’s not a nerf just stop already we know you’re not mage main. If you want to call something’s bug fix fine. Empower stacking is it a bug fix sure. It’s a bug fix now but weapons stacking has been around since launch now it’s a fix.
Burnout damage from 33% to 10% is a nerf. The ability lost damage increase and was given mana regen. There is not one weapon in this game that needs mana management. That is a slap in the face. Furthermore, it shows no dev actively plays a mage.
Light armor roll was due for some tweaking. But it’s not due to iframe or distance. It’s due to passive like shirking fort, energy, and cleanse with nimble etc that has made the dodge even more over tuned. Combine that with all assassin weapons using Dex for extra roll or having passive that regen stamina then you have OP shit.
This directly affects mage because mage for some reason now has the bow walk animation from the past that was deemed to oppressive for bow. But somehow it’s ok for mage? To exaggerate this now melee hits also slow and fire staff has 3 damage abilities in melee FT, burnout, incinerate. How can you use these and then escape? Is it possible sure practical no and no one is going to want a light mage in melee distance.
Lastly, they removed long ago the stacking of storm and good riddance. They latter did it with sacred ground. Yet you can stack melee AOE like grav well, path of destiny, shock wave, etc that is also quite telling and why these classes are more valuable. So what’s good for one should be good for all but not in this game.
Armor should not give bonus to damage whatsoever. If you want to add bonus to damage add it to stats not the armor.
Please stop trying to say the mage is in a good spot when clearly they are not. If they were so OP or great you would see countless threads about them. But you haven’t until players discovered these non documented changes.
The Ultimate chill should never have buffed damage output for other teammates or your other weapons to begin with. It was abused forever in wars.
That’s very true, at the same time melee should never have any type of scaling for gems like at all.
If you don’t have minimum like 150 intelligence you should not even be able to socket a gemstone into you weapon.
The whole system should be reworked that elemental damage types absolutely need either 150 int or 150 focus.
Regardless, people acting like pillar of fire doesn’t snap to random rocks on the ground clearly do not play mage.
People acting like meteor storm is somehow good , or other firestaff abilities. The whole class minus fireball is literally just one big joke compared to other abilities.
ESPECIALLY the point about how melee can stack gravity wells or how hammer can stack path of destiny etc.
The corruption (pun not intended) runs freaking deep in the combat dev team and it shows.
Head game designer should stand up to them but it’s clear that Scott Lane does not have what it takes to keep Dave and them in check and they run free doing whatever they want, or worse he is in on it as well.
Does one of the cc effects of PaoD stack? I wasnt aware of that. Or are you just referring to its damage? If just the damage any ranged damage ability behaves the same.
A lot of weapojs have dead abilities that aren’t used for pvp or pve. Bruisers have a ton of them As do STR melee.
Execute for Great Axe has a rad animation yet has never been used for anything other than meme’ing since launch as an example.
Hatchet’s throwing tree received a small re-work but is still garbage and the only usable ability imo is the one that rends. Some use Social Distancing but a hatchet player doesnt want to go backwards so its not good.
Hammer also has abilities that arent used.
Most of the weapons in the game could use a touch up or re-work of soke kind. Mages for whatever reason are just drastically more vocal than players of the other weapons. Its odd but theres probably something to that that the devs should listen to to a degree. Mages want to obliterate everything without having to be threatened by melee. Obviously that fantasy cant be in the game. But maybe they should have more ranged abilities or fix the current ones qol and maybe balance the damage afterwards up or down for mage players once pillar is fixed. That ability has had a history of issues.
This. I’m actually so tired of people talking about Blunderbuss + IG or FS in the context of mages. Blunderbuss is straight up overtuned no matter what other weapon you pair with it and no Mage player is denying that BB needs a nerf.
ok.someone tested it in PTR. This is huge nerf to fire mage.
Efficient burnout won`t give dmg buff to flamethrower.
They ruined fire mages.
Magic is a scourge on Aeternum. Abolish all magic users and cleanse the land. (yes you too healers)
It does give a damage buff but only on the first hit which is literally what the perk says… and its always been on first hit only
NOOO, it was always for full used FT.
Thats why FT was still good skill.
Now wil be shit.
Highly doubt that
I play with it for few months so i know.
These clowns are just bad. The burnout changes will do nothing to flamethrower. They simply have no clue what they are talking about tbh.
-
It was never intended for the damage to be persistent through the entire 8 seconds the perk gives, only the first hit. So it’s a fix rather than a nerf.
-
If you think flamethrower will no longer be relevant because of this change, I will say you go watch some mage gameplay.
All these people crying about mage being weak in pvp need to go.
Saw someone do a fire staff hammer battlemage build and it looked Hella potent. Maybe search that video and try it out. Also dont forget that casters are indeed getting buffs next patch indirectly due to the new gems. They buff up elemental damage for each one and they add extra dots to your attacks. They do help.
You had me at “Please stop nerfing” ![]()
Hiya,
I’ve seen other players share this same sentiment! I will pass it along to the Dev team. ![]()
Again, that’s not a true mage. FS/IG FS/VG or IG/VG are the only 3 true mage combinations in the game. Everything else is a hybrid mage.
Anything with a weapon that doesn’t scale with it’s own stat is bonkers to even bring up as a mage.
Mages don’t want to use a hammer they want to use magic.
Imagine the outcry from the melee community if any one of the melee weapons was in the gutter, and if mages came into the chat and said hey if you use Ice gauntlet/hammer it looks hella potent.
Melee players would lose their freaking minds dude.
