Please up Throwing Hatchet hitbox

Hi there,

In the last patch, the hatchet was nerfed in damage, for a revaluation of the hatchet throw.

except that, although some spells have been improved, it is important to emphasize that hatchette throwing is bad.

the projectiles certainly do little damage, but the problem is above all that with already a low launch speed, a big fall of the projectile, the hitbox is disastrous.

to hope to hit an opponent even close, it’s not easy, but imagine further or moving.

moreover, watching my game videos, I see that the throw does not even respect the direction of the shoot.

would you have a way to just give the hatchet a hitbox equivalent to the bow? or other ranged weapons.

+1 Hatchet throw definitely needs improvements.

I also proposed changes for throwing hatchets a while back:

  1. Basic throw should be 120% base dmg, rending throw 120%, social distancing 120%, infected throw 150%. Damage is low for such a skilful playstyle.
2.Hurling force should add up to 30%-40% more damage at 20+ meters as hitting targets at such a long range is difficult.
3.Social distancing should get the same treatment as net shot, if you stand or going backwards you hop backwards, if you go forward or side no hop. Also the iframe is joke, either completely remove it or up the iframes.
4.LITTLE bigger hitbox. Throwing hatchets should remain high skilled playstyle. Please do not up hitbox like you did on bow, every noob could play it then, just like every noob can and is playing bow atm.
5.I noticed that attunement is not proccing on each throw, i can’t test properly the attack rate of throwing hatchets but it seems like its around 1sec, devs have to confirm the exact attack rate.
  2. Fix the cloud bug, this was confirmed by devs that it is getting fixed on next ptr update- GREAT.

I think the hitbox should be bigger because for me the hatchet is bigger than an arrow.

and from a gameplay point of view the hatchet is not made to do damage from a distance by being skilful, but rather to throw a last blow at opponents who take the distance, in a somewhat crude way

Throwing hatchets were so good on the PTR. Then they nerfed the skill multipliers into the ground in the last week.

Hatchets should deal low damage but be easy to hit or they should deal high damage and be difficult to hit. But right now, they deal low damage and are difficult to hit. The worst of both worlds. It’s not surprising to see that Hatchet is still a melee weapon with throws being there only for utility.

Exactly my point… i would always go with more dmg and skill required than low skill low dmg… If they up damage and hitbox, we will just have bow v2 and every noob would play it and think he is good (like it is with bow now).

Throwing hatchet will never be a thing in PVP sadly. Just too clunky to work against good players

As a throwing hatchet user for a very long time as well as on PTR a lot of testing. I do agree I think that the throne hatchet damage is a little off.

I run a unique combo of blunder bus and thrown hatchet

Yea i tried all different combinations of stats, even with a glass cannon 300str 150 dex, dmg is just lacking… Tbh, i lost hope, they needed almost a full year to rework throwing hatchets (that was the worst and least used skill tree in the game) and i don’t think they will put any effort to tweak more in the near future.

Projectile speed vs hitbox buff:
I honestly think the biggest issue is projectile speed not hitbox. I have no problem hitting rending toss at 25m. That said the hatchet moves so slow in a normal toss that they have time to strafe on reaction. This is obsurd. You can’t strafe a bow on reaction. With toss being so easy to dodge its no wonder you feel like a hitbox buff is needed, but even with a hitbox buff the root problem of it being a slow telegraphed move is still there.

Throwing hatchet dps is trash tier:
With healing, dodges, movement skills, and defensive skill options, being able to cc and burst an opponent is vital in getting a kill. Hatchet has no lock down or bust. Then add on that throwing is a higher skill cap over berserk with 0 dps increase just makes the risk to reward of using this weapon feel bad. I’m not sure if increasing projectile speed will help with this feel but for the love of game give throwing tree a flat 20% increase so we aren’t forced to take berserk to do decent dps. This just gives a bit of build options so we aren’t forced to grab berserk instead of getting all three throwing skills.

Make more berserk tree abilities work with throwing tree. My biggest problem is everything is +x dmg buffs or empower for the throwing tree. And you still do less dmg than most other weapons. So why all the empower and 0 utility if it ends up with throwing hatchet having sub standard dps. That just means hatchet needs more power to come in line with other weapons. Or other weapons need to be nerfed (I’m a fan of buffing if possible) So let’s try to buff some perks to work better with throwing hatchet.

Accumulated Power: change to work off of 3 hits in general for aimed throw

Relentless fury: change to work with aimed throw headshot

Fortifying strikes: change to work with aimed throws

On fire: this trait feels really bad. I feel like I crit less when I run this trait. It’s like it locks me into a crit on third strike. Or just eats up a crit I already would have done. Just give us scaling empower buff like the Mortal Impowerment perk. So it’d work like +2% empowering per ranged attack hit (15 stacks) and lost on miss, melee attack or weapon swap. Make this a high risk high reward skill.

Hurling force: give 10% base within 5m and then 25% at 20+m (helps melee as well, and gives a single stack of against all odds if they dip into this tree)

Arial transmission: poison dmg for 6 secs with cloud. (Cause, you know, copium for opr points)

Persistent hindering: only +12% for three?! Spear gets +30% for three. At least make it +5% per debuff. (half of spear’s +10%) To bad hatchet doesn’t have a dot to extend… That’d be nice.

Just my thoughts on throwing hatchet.
