POLL : best solution to make GEAR CRAFTING worth it?

I have to admit this post needs some attention. Currently spent over 100k on crafting and only received terrible or at least not full good perks on any items. Currently with max crafting you have a 1/6 chance of legendary then if you say roll 1 attribute then you have to try roll 3 good perks. And most the time you might get a couple good ones but its just a huge waste of materials. Enough to make no one on our server really want to drop 100k+ gold on crafts just to get out terrible items.

Then help me bump this topic sometimes

I’m biased against RNG, but I truly did not expected so much luck was involved in the late game.

None of the options are good, they are too biased for crafters.
You need to preserve randomness of perks to be on par with watermark grinders but give some reward for investing time and money on rolls (which watermark grinders don’t do, they just invest time).
I described how it can be done in another post here State of CRAFTING and a way to make it worth again - #77 by koto2021, but in short, each craft should invest towards closing the gap between low gs roll and max gs roll for that particular item (chest, legs, spear, axe, certain tool, etc) until it’s only 1 gs or so.

You probably didn’t read the topic under the poll… Obviously a topic made to figure out a crafting buff will be biased for crafters :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

And if you pick “add an additionnal charm for less RNG” don’t forget that you would still have 1 random perk on a purple gear / 2 random on a legendary 600 GS (the stats count as a perk).

No, this is a bad idea to roll additional mod. You’re producing far superior items by default than watermark grinders. That’s what I call bias.
Add “other solution” to the poll, I’ll vote for it.

At the moment watermark grinders produce great gear with less grind than any trade skill, no money investment and nothing to lose from it. Just bash mobs and loot gear, pray for it to be good

Exactly, the end result is the same, which is good, time investment is about the same, the only difference is the materials/money we invest is different (WM grinders don’t invest any money outside of repairs). So, we should get reward for that over time. There’s no such option in the poll.

Investment is the same… Spending 70k gold to level up armoring to 200 and more than 130k gold for Weaponsmith or Jewelcrafting 200 is about the same ?

I don’t remember having to spend anything to upgrade my watermark instead of just sticking to Shattered Mountain for 1 week

Read it one more time. Time investment is the same, money is different.

Isn’t the same.

You have to gather materials for lvling (or buy them, but then u have to gather money for that).
Then you have to gather materials(or buy them, but then u have to gather money for that) and then u can TRY to get something good.

But there is 24hr cooldown for epic mats. So either you waiting 24h everyday or you spending shit tons of money for that.

One axe craft is 48h of asmodeum or 6k gold for asmodeum (on my server).

ETA for crafters: atleast 48hrs gathering mats to be able to craft one item.

And there are HWM farmers. One hour daily grind for HWM in zerg.

ETA for HWM: 1hr daily

Yea, the time is “the same”.

Takes weeks to get to 590 WM, in my book it’s the same.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m full time crafter and I want them to show crafters some love but what you ask in the poll is not healthy for the game.

Can’t agree, 2 days of Reekwater and I am 550

I guess make an additional craft mod slot but I think it should be tied to having t5 trophies.

As a crafter (200 JC and 200 arcana ) I am a bit biased but I think that having an additional craft mod would be great. I kind of like the idea of having it tied to T5 trophies or some other increased cost. With that being said, I think JC is overall in a good place but I think that is largely because it is so difficult to get jewelry WM increases and most (all?) dropped jewelry is BoP so JCers don’t have the same level of competition.

While I can only speak personally from the position of Arcana, it appears as though all other crafting professions have a very difficult time crafting items that can compete with dropped items in terms of pricing. With the change to Arcana enabling 600 GS rolls I made some attempts of crafting Fire Staffs and Void Gauntlets. I believe it cost about 4k gold per roll and with the rolls I had I was not able to sell a single item at a profit and I am having difficulty even selling them at a loss.

If they won’t allow for the locking in of a stat + perk or 2 perks then I think they need to rethink the material costs for all professions except JC. I feel like it should not cost more than 2k per random roll. Even at a price of 2k it would be difficult to make money with the amount of dropped gear on the AH but at least you would be able to profit on good or better rolls. I feel like currently even with a god tier roll you are only going to be getting like 10k, maybe 15k and that only covers the costs of 2.5 - 3.75 rolls which given the large number of bad rolls isn’t much of a margin.

Been saying since day 1 we should be able to upgrade our gear. I farmed a lot of cool things (Boneshatter Animus, Boneshatter’s Third Arm, Ill-Gotten Gain, Spiteful Reaper) that look amazing but quickly got outpaced by regular looking junk.

Either we should be able to use azoth to raise gear score (and stats/perks accordingly) or be able to infuse higher GS weapons into lower ones choosing which perk from the new weapon gets added.

That is still ultra worth it i think, earrings are the worse to craft

True, I’ve kept it with me still. The problem is the 499 gear score and Constitution buff are about 2/3 of that why could be.

Yeah, it’s costly to make stuff unless you gather the stuff yourself… and people are also used to very cheap prices due to all the loot on the market.

#1 - Make it clearer which items are crafted vs. looted
#2 - Allow crafters to choose both the attribute AND ability perks (two charms)
#3 - Scale back the overall quality of dropped loot and/or scale-up crafted items so there’s a bigger difference between them and incentive to buy crafted
