Poll: do GAs need a nerf?

That not an issue just for the GA all this animation cancelling and Iframe abuse needs to go away, its a bit ludicrous to point out and want it to go away for one weapon only.

Lots of whinage in the forums about healers and GA and when they are totally nerfed into being subpar something else will become the new meta and the same people will cry and whine to get those nerfed too.

People should be asking for buffs for other things if they feel they are lack luster…all this nerf moaning will just make the game poorer for everyone as the merry go round turns.

Best way to nerf GA is simply to fix mages. Mages should counter those aimbot jump charge on left-click BS like it was pre 1.1.

Be quiet next the idiots will be whining to nerf the spear. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before those tears start flowing anyway though.

That is so wrong on many levels I feel like you’re capping

If you even think for a second that a GA/Hammer build can even compete with Rapier/Bow or Spear/Bow in the mobility department you are just straight up capping man.

A GA/Hammer build has zero mobility when kiting people and zero tankiness to survive more than 5 people. Don’t cap

If you are a heavy armor GA/Hammer going off the point and try to flank, you don’t deserve to be on any team that wants to win. You have zero mobility, and you can’t tank 6 people either without lifestaff. Anybody who says a heavy armor GA/Hammer has mobility doesn’t understand how Bloodlust works.

Lol, what about that insane ga charge? Sheesh u just disqualified your self

I strongly believe that GA light attacks lunge range needs to be reduced. Everything else is perfectly fine.

NO! Not at all!

Charge is inferior to Fleche… and what are you going to do when a fast player is on you and body blocks you? Your charge won’t even go an inch lmao. Just accept you died in melee range because you played wrong.

ive heard that many times in game not on the forum yet though. you right hahaha i should keep quiet

I 1vX regularly by flanking their backline. I can tell you right now there are many situations where you would prefer a Rapier over Axe for escape, not just because Rapier is a straight up better weapon for 1vX and mobility, but because it can actually mass stun people chasing you and has 2 built in i-frame abilties.

I think I can speak to this. Probably 200ish hours with spear between the betas and beginning of launch.

The primary reason I moved away from spear was because of how easy it was to dodge. I wasn’t getting dodged myself, but that was close to launch. People hadn’t figured out how to pvp yet (and most still haven’t). But I have never one time lost to another spear, and I can probably count on one hand the amount of times I’ve actually let a spear ability hit me. (not counting the odd dude who runs cyclone for whatever reason). But really odd ability choices I wasn’t expecting aside, spear is VERY easy to dodge. This was the primary motivation behind me switching to rapier. If I could read it, everyone else would figure out how to as well eventually.

Vaultkick’s animation is very fast - for the portion that actually deals damage. The first half of it doesn’t stun, nor deal damage. It’s only once they get half way through it that it “activates” for lack of a better word. This means the first half of the ability is 100% telegraph. And given how narrow the actual hitbox is, it’s very easy to sidestep.

Javelin has an entire windup of repositioning the spear and getting into the throwing pose. At which point, it’s just a slower arrow. If you can dodge and arrow, you will have no problems dodging a javelin.

Sweep is rather fast and hard to dodge, however, it has a shorter reach than the basic attack. So, if the spear user is running right up to you, closer than his normal range is, you can expect a sweep and react accordingly.

The only abilities that are very difficult to dodge are skewer and perforate. But being that they aren’t CC abilities, they aren’t as punishing to be hit by. And cyclone I guess, if you’re insane.

With all of that in mind, however, spear is an objective improvement over hammer in just about every respect that a hammer performs it’s role in. Spear has an absolutely mindboggling amount of CDR and stamina regeneration. Meaning it can have it’s cc up more often, for longer. For every bit of CC that a hammer can throw out, a spear can do it 3 times over.

I’m surprised that spear hasn’t already taken over hammer as the go-to CC weapon.

You are right, but that’s the balance in spear. For the amount of cooldown reduction spear has it makes sense to be slightly harder to aim at. I may need to give spear a try now for this build lol

Aggressive manuevers (impaler passive), invigorating crits (zoner passive), continuous motion (final vault kick perk).

These three things are what make spear work. Dodge between every ability use and you have infinite CDR and energy regen.

And don’t take javelin. It’s bait. Perforate is your friend. 30% rend at all times.

Yea I always have kick, sweep, and peforated jab. It could make my rapier do insane dmg

Healing was drastically nerfed for heavy armor not too long ago. Damage in heavy armor was not, therefore GA is still doing the same high damage as it was in heavy armor. That is not balance, never has been, never will be. The fact is GA does everything and it does it all well. You can literally just light spam through OPR and kill everyone.
Maybe WoW should change their Arms spec warriors to be like New Worlds. They can do massive bursts of damage with fast attack speed. Sounds balanced to me. Arms spec warriors would just run around light spamming and killing everybody in sight. Get real. New World said from the start the GA would be the hardest hitting weapon in the game…and thats fine. The attack speed that goes along with it is not, its a joke, as is the lunge.

They nerfed mages which was a counter to the melee death balls in wars and opr with aoe damage. So now its worse than ever.

Nope

ofc. yes

I think might be that Refreshing Reach (zoner passive) and Refreshing Move (weapon perk) works on abilities that count as heavy attacks after the patch which lets spear have almost zero cooldown on skills, since there wasn’t this kind of zero cooldown build for spear prior the recent buff to make some abilities count as heavy attacks.
