First of all, I would like to say that pure stat builds should be relevant. This is just common sense. When your character puts all of their focus and skill into one mastery, it should show.
Magnus Carlsen is the best chess player in the world because he puts all his time and resources into chess. He does not split his focus between chess and poker. If he did, he would be good at both but not the best at either.
A possible remedy to keep pure stat builds relevant would be to eliminate diminishing damage returns after 300 points. But its hard to think this though because split stat builds will have 50 extra points. So they will also have the chance to benefit from eliminated diminishing damage returns after 300.
There needs to be some sort of threshold benefit for going pure stat that split stat builds cannot reach. Maybe an extra perk benefit point at 350 or 400 attribute points.
If there is no incentive, then pure stat builds will die. And you will be killing off the greats like Magnus Carlsen. RIP Magnus Carlsen.
They’re already good, which is why the split stats are getting buffed. If it doesn’t go through I’d like to see single stats Nerfed to compensate for blocking build diversity.
Just my opinion but I dont think straight stats need anything. I already find 300str 200con to be OP compared to everyone else that has to sacrifice mitigation and health just to be even close to par. Muskets are probably the worst off for this as they sacrifice all of con to do damage.
people are really doubling down on build diversity, but what kind of new builds you guys think we’re gonna see? I mean, OPR will be full of muskets/rapier for sure (even more) and VG and BB will get a nice buff, other than that spear/hatchet/SnS still gonna focus on STR/DEX. Almost no one is going to seriously put DEX/(Focus/Int) for their spears os DEX/Focus on a musket. I bet we won’t see new WH/FS builds because they still gonna be suboptimal compared to other builds
Which is a sensible thing to do given the choice. The people making out like there’s gonna be some crazy new builds are kinda reaching. It’s just 50 free points just cause.
Straight stat builds are already strong…especially the strength builds that have grit.
Players are just excessively over thinking this.
You need 10 pieces of gear, all with split stats, to be able to get that extra 50…
Split stat builds have extreme diminishing returns as it is, despite it already being scaled at .90 and .60. Gets worse as more are added into it. Extra attributes from split gear will give the gear value, and make up for the diminishing returns. Will actually see a little more build diversity.
I wonder if this is the plan anyway, though. Just get ‘glass’ out of the game so everyone’s lasting through the fight.
It’ll probably lead to some balance flutters either way, but I feel like aiming toward more classes having HP to spare isn’t far off from (one of) the goal(s) here.
Why are people acting like rapier, hatchet, VG, spear, BB, and muskets are weak rn? I see lots of people crying around because of these weaps and suddenly some people are like “you know what? those builds should get +50 points just because”
the reason they buff the 50 attribute bous is to make pure stat build benefit from it as well
If you have seen the dmg calculated post, you would see 350 attribute in pure stat wep give about 10% high dmg than 300/50 for split scaling wep.
For exapmple:
350P = 422.5% dmg
while splite scaling wep
300P/50S = 397.95% dmg
So 50 more point to split scaling wep is actually make weak wep on par with pure sta wep, not a buff.
Also, this brings way more wep combination which is good for the game.
