because OPR has become so unpalatable to play through its meta that players no longer want to be an easy target for muskets and archers.
I can tell you, you can be a very good player, the OPR has no flavor as melee.
so I’m not defending players who only play in groups, or do PvE, but I can understand why they do.
understanding it is necessary to contain it.
at the time when you could come in OPR alone in melee, when you could do 1 vs 1 in the jungle or join the bus, PvE players was not a problem, the groups of players although being a advantage was also not a problem if you knew how to bring something to your group.
Yes pls just get rid of the whole building aspect and all the random mobs across the opr map, it’s just annoying and adds nothing fun to the game. Why force pve on us in one of the only pvp modes we got. If ppl wanna kill Wolfes and chop down trees they can easily do that in the open world
There are probably a number of issues here that I 100% agree with (I personally detest this game’s “anyone can run” feature… I loathe how PVP is often just one player kiting others at will and it’s the worst game for it that I’ve ever played… in no other PVP game I’ve played has this been so ingrained in the DNA of its combat system… in most games I’ve played, if you engage in a fight then you’re committed and you had to either win that fight or die and escape was limited - at the very least, if you did escape then that was it, you were done and the team that forced you to escape didn’t need to constantly deal with you pestering them).
But, honestly, the actual issues you’re facing are:
Limited players
No match making
The first needs to be fixed first (cross server). Then the second should be implemented. Ideally, both should happen at the same time but I am 100% sure that won’t happen. That’s fine. But if they allow cross server and don’t then capitalise on increasing our player pool by adding in a way that means you probably won’t end up getting matched with this team ever again…
The thing is, if we assume the game is perfectly designed (it’s not, I know) then these guys just win because they’re actually playing OPR as it should be played. I know it’s not as simple as that. And I absolutely hate how a single player can destroy or hold an outpost at will if they play a certain, usually extremely troll build. But if these guys win all the time then they should be facing players who also win all the time (as in, comparatively, now). And you should be facing players who perhaps don’t.
The fact we can team up isn’t necessarily a bad thing but if we do team up then we should be matched against other teams of similar ability. Not against you. Not against me when I roll solo (which I do most of the time in OPR).
I think that is the main issue. Initially, the problem is “we’re always playing the same players”. Because that’s bad for all sorts of reasons. Made worse when a few of them play troll builds or always roll in premades.
PS: You’ll get a lot of people telling you to “gitgud” here, essentially. Be prepared for that. Just try to ignore them and use their posts as free bumps. These are issues that need to be raised and the devs need to know that match making in OPR would be an amazing feature if done right. I’d absolutely love it if I could play OPR and more often than not be matched against players of a similar ability to me.
It’s a smart idea that creates a mini game similar to The Cycle or Extinction.
What is funny is the only countermeasure you thought of is omitting the PvE portion of the instanced event. When there are many IN GAME ways to actually stop thier actions.
One main reason why a full PvP server would be bad. The PvP community will plead to remove PvE in a MMORPG. Thats $$$ lossed before the servers go live.
OPR is a different game mode. Assuming it can be won on pure PvP is a mistake.
I love hitting trees in OPR. I have 6000 hours played but still find PvP too mentally and physically difficult so I like that I can win in PvP by hitting trees.
In fact, if OPR were in a competitive league with tournaments and stuff, it would be EXTREMLY competitive because of the PVE.
Your problem is not PVE. Your problem is the bigger issue that people continue to bring up: Solo queue vs premade teams.
There needs to be a solo queue OPR game mode or you will always get run over by good premade teams regardless if they PVE or not.
I am 100% right with this one
Sadly, AGS wont address this issue anytime soon because there are not enough people to split OPR into two different queues. But personally, i think it would just be better to make OPR solo queue only.
Also, cross server OPR will help your situation a little bit. But even my server is dominated by a premade PVE team.
Wait till you encounter one of the farm bots in OPR. FULL CON-HASTE with automated knockback skills. You can’t kill it unless you have 3+ people on it. It just runs to nodes, if you attack it knocks you back with clear-out normally and continues to the node and takes 1 tap at a time as it fights you off then moves to the next, and then it goes and builds the fort
My favorite are the ones that exploit to join OPR with PvE flag on and just stand in your base spamming doors and bears while being completely invincible
The max door repair rate is obnoxious and needs to be tuned way down or preferably changed so defenders are unable to repair a gate under attack. Dont care about the rest of the pve…
I think there should absolutely be a place for this kind of game play and it should be opr, that being said we really really really really need some more battlegrounds like if we had more maps to play on these type of situations wouldn’t become so frustrating because we could just go play on a different map.
