Anyone that crafts knows the importance of having at least 1 house. I have only 1 house and because of the dbags that ran the city and bounced (after making all that precious gold I’m sure - Ni…) the taxes are too high and until there is a change in server merges, it’ll stay that way. So when devs decide to lift the tax nerf, which they will and plan to do, i’m barely hanging on as a crafter to have places to put my stuff until I can use it.
I have to pay taxes on everything. Crafts. Selling. Housing.
Then I have to pay for repairs, which is in itself a stupid amount. Try to kill mobs at a lower level than you for a half hour. See what you make vs what it takes to repair the gear you used in A HALF HOUR. It’s insane! You can’t keep this up.
“Sell stuff on the AH”. Yeah sure… I can sell that junk that drops from mobs when hell freezes over. It’s far worse because I’m on a ghost server with few players remaining. No one buys the junk that drops because it’s… junk. …and there’s almost no one around to buy a damn thing because majority of the ones left were all lvl 60 after the first few days of the game going live.
The stuff you can sell… Well, you need gold to sell it in the first place, then you’re taxed on that as well.
I’ve never played a game so bass ackwards as this.
I’m really REALLY trying to have a good time but so much frustration trying to do any of it. Everything is a catch 22 in this game and NONE of it makes any sense.
Why would a game company pursue every damn thing under the sun just to piss off the player base and drain it of any fun whatsoever is beyond me.
So how in the hell… aside from owning a city, do I continue to pay 1k in taxes every 7 days, even as a casual player (a few hours a day when I can) can I compete with this BULLSHIT
There are many great MMOs that do not rely on taxing players. There’re good reasons why NW players drops from 900k to 86k today in a matter of 2 months and I believe taxes is part of it. I’m not coming back to this game until they abolish this stupid tax system.

You can get a cheap house and it’s never an issue my taxes are never more than 300, because as soon as controlling company bumps taxes to high they lose the territory because everyone gets pissed. And if they don’t then you may be in a dead server and you can transfer.
Amazon doesn’t pay much by the way of taxes and AGS is under the Amazon umbrella. It stands to reason that they wouldn’t really understand how taxes work…
I have a hard time trying to figure out the target audience for this game honestly.
For many of us in the really real world paying rent will never be a game and can sometimes be a struggle. I know there are alot of spoiled children and adults who have never had to face this month after month, year after year. But for anyone who wants to immerse themselves in a New World and forget about Real Life for a time, getting kicked in the gut everytime that “need to pay rent” notice flashes really sucks.
According to one(or several) AGS employee(s) constantly plying the forums, that tax system is by design - probably by Daddy J himself who knows?, management always has the last say on design right? amirite?
So yeah, you need to protest at amazon hq not here.

The storage limits and separation is insane.
Everything is a timegate because lets face it, there is ZERO real content.
This will never hold a candle to wow or ff.
Cheaters that got away with exploits while others have to deal with increasingly longer grinds.
Daily cooldowns just to keep you logging in.
