yeah they should lower the housing tax. if you own 3 tier 4 houses it costs 3-7k every week depending on what the taxes are set to by company and how much tax reduction you have. thats a lot of money, especially considering there’s barely any way to get money at lvl 60 once you have done all the quests. sure you can sell stuff to players, but on most servers majority of players have the same issue and the economies are crashing because no one has any income outside of trade.

So, I have now seen taxes from 5% to 10% and I can tell you confidently that I have not paid more or less in housing tax every 5 days. I pay the exact same.
What does change is the amount of money the company gets from it.
My company had a 5% tax going for our settlement on my 20k house that would mean:
1k Gold/5days
Here’s the thing, I have 29,4% tax reduction on top of that I got a 30% tax discount for being part of the company.
In total I paid 700g/week.
Since then we lost the settlement thanks to the lovely war lag exploit and immortality bug. The tax is now 7,5%
I pay 1k gold with 29,4% tax reduction.
So, no. House Taxes are a fixed amount and the taxes the company sets is a cut in these taxes.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY HOUSE TAXES. YOU JUST LOSE YOUR TELEPORT AND ACCESS TO DECOR. You don’t lose your chests nor your trophies.
If you don’t want to pay taxes. Simply don’t pay taxes.
I agree taxation is theft. 
the part about the Storage is complete Bullshit on your end, if you haven’t paid Taxes the extra Storage Space from the chests in the House is gone, and so are the benefits from the trophies .
Cause guess what, chests and trophies count as decor and as such are disabled.

You talking about me? - no, I’m not just learning about taxes. In real life, I have multiple rental houses across different countries with very different tax laws. This game however, their housing policy just doesn’t make any sense.

Right, but the whole point is having the storage that you can house-port to. WIthout the port, the house is not very attractive.

5% tax on a 20k house with 29.4% tax reduction is 294g off, you pay 706 gold. Your company offering you 30% less housing tax does apply and you should be paying 211 gold less. I think your company did not have it at 5% for long after you took the town. You are just mistaken.
7.5% for a 20k house is 1500 gold a week. 29.4% reduction is 441 gold, so you pay 1059 gold per week. Checks out.
Same here from my side - house taxes are INSANE.
I am playing a lot for reputation in ebonscale cause of the ambient and own a T3 House (biggest one possible there). I have earned Level 45 in reputation and used every possible card for tax reduction (which grants me a total of 32,2%) - The owning company set the housing taxes to 9,81% and is the same as my company (syndicate) so we also got the faction bonus on top.
Gues what… i still have to pay 947,87 Gold per 5 days (which sometimes jumpes up to 990 or goes down to 930 for no reason cause the tax is always the same)
But in total this means my housing costs me around 5.688k per Month (30 days / 5 * house tax rounded) and nearly 69k per year for owning ONE house with a big discount for as long as the owning company dont decice to raise up the taxes.
So for me i decided i will not work for this game to pay my taxes on housing, but what is more important to amazon, i will also stop buying anything they offer for housing until that is fixed, because i was into it and though “ok cosmetics are fine, lets buy this shit to support the game” - no. No way anymore keep your housing stuff for real money and your housing until you fix it to an amount people can afford it.
I played lord of the rings online and they had a fair housing. I played ultima online and they had a fair housing - but this is like focing me to work for a game.

I come into a game to combat monsters, to learn and create new items with crafting, to explore strange new worlds. if thier is a houseing system i want to spend hours decorating and creating, finding or buying from the store new furniture.
What I won’t do is be forced to spend hours trying to make enough money to pay taxes on it. I know money is easy for the day traders that work the auction or the companys that own thriving cities but as things stand today 10/25/21 it is really really hard for a casual player to make money.
I’m guessing in retrospect that I should have googled to find out if NW was casual friendly… aw well… live and learn right?

The devs need to learn that there are people that play video games and aren’t lifers in it for the Glory.
There is the 2% and then there is the other 98%. The 98% make the world go round. The 2% are who you develop for that break it.
They only developed for the 2%

Yeh I’m not thrilled with the tax system. I’ve got 3 houses, one is a t3 house in ebon. Taxes are 5%, 10.06% and 5 %. I’m working towards standing to reduce them but it’s still over 1k every week to maintain. This week I’m not even home for 4 days so most of the tax will be wasted.
Initially, way back in open beta, I thought nothing of it. I didn’t realise now scarce gold gets as you get higher level. I thought gold income would increase so these values seemed sensible gold sinks to me. Yeh, that’s no longer how it looks.
On face value, it seems cool. You never lose your house (and too right, it cost a ton of gold to “buy”). But it’s definitely going to be a huge sink for me.
I don’t begrudge paying taxes for everything else. They’re small values. Will see if I’m up for home ownership several weeks in when quests are all gone.
Amazon made a game that has taxes, yes… but did you notice that in this game, Companies don’t pay taxes?

If you feel it’s extortion, you should complain to the company that owns your settlement.
I have a house. When I don’t pay my tax my trophies stop working and I can’t use house recall.
Storage is unaffected.
Why would you need 3 tier 4 houses if not using them to make money?
If that company refuse to lower the tax you have to go with what they offer you. I moved from Albraca (all taxes 5%) to Canis (all Taxes around 10%) which went my tax per week from 500 up to 1k per 5 days. And thats not even the peak. They could go for 20% which would cost me 2k per 5 days even with 32% tax reduction already.
Seems fair.
You forget the fact that if a governor wakes up on the wrong side of the bed and sets up the tax to extreme then it can get really nasty.
