LoL my tax for one large house in everfall is 3.7k every 5 days.
but why should the guy who spent 100 hours playing the game to generate the gold to buy a house and the trophy buffs be penalised, because you only play 20 hours and expect the same benefits?
I do agree with this, you should be rewarded for putting in more time but the current way it works is broken.
If the tax was due after a set amount of playtime (say every 100 hours online) rather than calendar days it would be a much fairer system.
I would still be behind non-casual players due to their time spent gathering, questing, etc but I would still be able to enjoy the full game experience rather than being locked out of things due to real world limitations.
No game should ever lock you out of content because you don’t have the same amount of time available to play as others. It’s bad game design.
EDIT: Previous edit was a mistake, I read the wrong comment.
Turns out your wallet is a bit more involved in a player-run economy.
If that’s upsetting, this may not be the game for you.
Your logic suggests that all people should have be able to craft Voidbent armour once they hit Level 60. Despite the time and gold investment to reach 200 armouring, to mine the copious amount of orc ore hoping for rare drops, or to grind the gold to pay for someone else’s labour.
Your logic suggests we should all just be given it.
You are also not being locked out of content. It is content you chose not to do.
You can literally do three elite quests in an easy zone for 400 coins or up to 700 coins in a hard zone.
30-45 Minutes of being online tops.
The thing is you are not locked out. You can allocate your play time to make money to pay taxes if you choose to. Nothing in the game is stopping you. It is all about your own choices.
No because that is linked to online time spent not an arbitrary time system. I should still be able to get those things, it’ll just take me more weeks as I’m not online as often.
This is a more useful comment to my initial post which was how to earn enough.
You can get a house and rent based on your effective use of time. How you chose to play the game dictates what activities do. If you don’t want to spend the time to make gold (which is really easy to do), that is your choice.
The only content that is locked in this game is Invasions/City fights, Outpost Rush and dungeons. As these are level locked or key locked.
Possibly true but then it stops being a fun game and becomes busy work. I’d spend most of my limited play time each week just working to pay rent and get very little time to enjoy the content I like.
Yes house tax is a part of the major economy for town upgrades and wars. Consider this though. If taxes were half what they are now then more people would get them and maintain the taxes so the net result could easily mean more income for the town.
There could also be a world buff that could be purchased on a daily (24h duration) that could go to the town coffers and could be configured by the town owner. Example x% gathering speed (or luck or accumulation) for some amount of gold. This could only be purchased from one town at a time. This could stack with the house bonus for the regions but would allow a non home owner to have an option.
Correct. You will only ever have to backpay one week’s worth of taxes regardless of how long you are away from the game, and it is your choice to pay the taxes to get your benefits back.
you don’t lose your house for not paying taxes, you just lose the buffs. you literally save money by going on vacation and coming back, because you get no new taxes.
guy plays everyday, pays taxes each week, pays 4 weeks of taxes
guy goes on vacation, guy pays 2 weeks of taxes.
also taxes are prepaid. so if somebody raises the taxes too high, you can just not pay them at all.
That’s 2 games of outpost rush even if you lose. That’s ~1 hour a week.
That’s literally how ALL mmorpgs work.
No it’s not.
Most MMORPGs still allow you to access all content, it just takes more weeks if you can’t play as often.
EDIT: It’s also probably worth you looking up the dictionary definition “literally”.
345g every 5 days. You know you can do 2 of your 3 daily faction quests and make 350g? takes 20 mins.
So you are saying games don’t lock you out of content if you don’t have the same amount of time available to play if you put in more time to access them?
Are you high?
