You simply pointed out how bad the system is. Houses aren’t supposed to be a system that is a burden or only for a small % of the population. That is just bad design. Towns would make more if people actually bought houses instead of trying to milk the few that have them.
There is a Daily Bonuses Available 3/3 upper left corner of that picture.
It means that it multiply the base gold you get by 10X.
Just a tip: Mainly you want to do “ELITE” quest that is why some players do run Daily Elite Chest. Keep cycling them unless you can’t find a group for these quest then don’t lol.
Look at the upper left of the faction missions.
“Daily Bonuses Available 3/3”
The bonus is 10x coin per mission.
That 23.75 coin mission will give you 237.5 coins upon turning in said mission.
You could pre-game an elite mission for turn-in and then do two more the next day.
that assumes you get the gold you’re supposed to get.
I just did my 3 dailys and got 12gp… which seems awful low for x10 gold for the first three dailys, so the game is probably broken again.
That mentality is faulty, and under no circumstances do video games work that way. This game offers a player driven economy, for example. You are not entitled to own any item in the game. Instead, you’re given the opportunity to grind/farm for it or earn money and buy it. You’re not entitled to participate in wars or own 3 houses, it’s simply an option available IF you put in the time and luck/skill/etc involved in acquiring it.
You can make up your own rules, but nobody’s going to let you follow them. Hardcore players will have more stuff and see more of the game. It’s been like that in pretty much any MMO. There’s plenty for you to enjoy, but you won’t get the full breadth of the end game unless you put in the time.
Perhaps you’d like the NW devs to come to your house and wipe your arse for you too?
The game is super easy which means you barely invested time into it or were mis-managing the game entirely, pretty much you just broadcasted your gaming merit.
There are way bigger problems than you having to pay tax…thanks for the laugh at least.
Hum…

Coin difference: 275
275 / 2 Elite quests = 137.5
137.5… Oh wow! Exactly ten times the original 13.75 coin reward!
And now I just have one more to go for the day
Yes. You understand it. If you can’t keep up, you don’t get to have a house. Just because it exists does not mean you have done enough to earn it.
Then … ya know … don’t pay your taxes for a while and instead just play the content you like. You don’t even LOSE the house, just some of the benefits. Pay the taxes (they don’t even charge back-taxes!) when you can.
I’ve played 576 hours, around 16 hours a day, PvE and PvP. Ten or more wars, uncounted OPR. I’m not a casual.
That’s not what this is about. If you want to play a job instead of playing a game, more power to you.
I for one don’t want a real-life simulator when it comes to economics, I want a fantasy world that differs from the mundanity of real life in a positive way. Particularly when it comes to taxes and tax collectors and amassing wealth.
I don’t want some other player having the power to arbitrarily grief me financially using stupid treachery or just being greedy. Naturally I don’t have a house, nor will I ever if things don’t change … but not because I’m a casual.
How fast I can make the money to pay the collector is irrelevant to my point. If all you can think of is ways to make the money to pay the taxes, you don’t even comprehend the point.
Then you kind of fucked up joining a game advertised with a player ran economy.
Yet another “I chose the wrong type of game for my life’s circumstances so I’ll take it out on the other players. I’m also a better human because of reasons.”
The possibility of linked trading houses was like blood on the water, uh?
The taxes are simply the rules of the game, if you can’t interact with them, then just don’t use them.
I took a few days off and taxes expired in the meantime. Wanna know what happened?
Nothing. I just engaged with the game at my own leisure and payed later.
I don’t have to like every aspect of the game. I’ve never liked every aspect of any game. Everything has its weak areas. I laugh every time a game claims it’s going to have a “player based economy.” Just like when I hear “open world full loot PvP.”
New World is a great game, overall. Obviously I wouldn’t put all the time into it if not. I just think the economic system is a pie-in-the-sky pipe dream that will never be actually fun as designed.
I note that the markets will soon be combined, for global access. Things change…
I disagree. In the 30 odd years of video gaming, I’ve rarely come across a game that punishes players for not being able to put the time in. Nearly all MMORPGs will let you access all content regardless of how often you play, it just takes much longer to achieve and/or unlock (as it should).
I am not making up my own rules, this is a flaw in the current system which can be remedied if AGS want to. It’s systems like this that will turn some casual players away and as the largest player base in most MMORPGs are casual players, it is unwise to have a system in the game which drives them away. Less players means less future profits for the company, meaning less released content, meaning more players leave, resulting in a dead game.
I want the game to succeed as I enjoy it but there are systems in the game which are unfair or broken and could do with being fixed, arguing for them (just to defend a game you like) is counter-productive to this.
This is essentially what I’m forced to do which is very disheartening as I worked hard to afford to buy the houses in the first place.
I boot up the game at the weekend, remember I’ve had my hard earnt bonuses taken away from me after putting in the hours to get them (I even crafted all my own furniture), my shoulders sag, I log off.
There are ways to do this which are less unfair to casual players such as being taxed for time spent online, this doesn’t hurt anyone else but may help keep more casual players playing which is ultimately good for the longevity of this game we all enjoy.
Couldn’t agree more. AGS will see… when they look at their quarterly statement and start to realize they’re losing money, there will be adjustments…
Alot of the annoying mechanics in this game (Orbs, property taxes, fast travel costs)… I am willing to bet that the primary (or secondary) reasoning behind them was to mitigate gold farmers.
Guess what guys, gold farming will never stop. It was there, is there, and will always be there. All these stupid control mechanisms do is hurt the game.
Dude we are talking about completing 3 faction quests once every 5 days (soon 7 days) to earn enough gold for a house tax. On top of this you get the faction tokens and other stuff while doing the quests.
Property taxes scale depending on following
- What governor set them at for settlement (can go up or down if territory under new faction)
- Your territory standing and how many times you opted for prop tax reduction
- If the house is in your faction (can change)
3 faction quests might cover it, might not. Either way, I don’t need deadlines, I have enough of those at my goddamn job. Whos piloting my character, AGS or me?
