As the title suggest, some Weapon Perk reworks are perhaps too good to be true for several abilities, so I am here to parse through those which do not work as we might hope. The perks of interest that work fine on armor between Live and PTR are those which produce buffs after skill usage, those are your old reliable Fortifying Sacred Grounds, the intriguing, new Empowering Meteor Showers, and the completely reworked Empowered Explosive Arrows.
What exactly is the big issue, then? Though they function as we customarily assume and take for granted when placed on armor, when you find and use a tower shield for instance with Fortifying Shield Rush, the fortify will fall off upon weapon swap despite the buff persisting if Fortifying Shield Rush was on your armor. What then are the implications of this inconsistency? Well, for starters, don’t craft anything whatsoever until AGS addresses this issue and stick with whatever gear has the weapon perk on it; damage increases, debuff increases, Leeching, and CDR increases are not subject to this issue whatsoever which is what makes this problem such a big deal.
The most recent and perhaps last PTR patch does not address this, and no CMs or Devs thus far have spoken on the situation, so it is best to just inform those who do not know what to expect. I listed below all the weapon perks that will be of no benefit to you the player if you place them on your weapons until we get a status update on this matter. Thank you.
basically any buff u get from your ability perk on wep will disapear if u swap wep.
but debuff stays.
And i think most skill tree perk buff will aslo disapear when u swap wep, for example bow roll get 5sec empower buff will be gone once swap wep.
however the 5sec haste buff stays if swap wep.( i think this gona be fixed in ptr)
It is incredibly backhanded by AGS and comes out of left field. As Khanzy stated, it came after a patch intended to FIX the ridiculous double damage proc on Insatiable Gravity Well while also toning it down, though there were no notes added to the 1.4.5 patch suggesting that such a change was being made where IGW would only take effect with your weapon equipped.
All we have is some obscure, solitary “ya its not supposed to work that way” on a CM’s forum post from over two months ago. I have not seen any traction on this from anyone since it has been brought up in the PTR feedback 26 days ago. On that note, why is empowering shooting stance on this list?
Obviously you have to have a musket out for it to work lol. You have to be in shooters stance to receive the buff. Why would I even think I’d keep a 40% damage buff if I switched to a rapier?

Same with flamethrower. Why would I receice a perm haste, after using flamethrower. The perk is only while using flamethrower.

Not sure if you realized it, but this has been the case since Launch for damn near all of these weapon perks. You can, just like I did on the PTR, use the several perks I listed and observe that these buffs remain on your character after weapon swap. If it was how it was “intended”, then how come this was not addressed months ago? Can you explain to me why then your Enfeebling Weaken debuff shouldn’t vanish after swapping your weapon? Will you be able to explain away and debunk why Unending Thaw will suddenly not slow you for seconds after leaving Ice Storm? Care to explain why buffs and ground effects from Orb of Protection, Sacred Ground, and Beacon persist after weapon swap?
I get that your feeble mind can’t really grasp all of that without exploding, but maybe you ought to think outside the box and READ what I am saying. So to put it simply, the players need CONSISTENCY here. There is no tooltip nor Dev addressing this matter thoroughly to let everyone know to just craft 3 defensive perk armor, that sort of is the purpose of this post. Please try to lecture someone else when you grow a couple brain cells.
Pushing this up the chain. There are going to be some very unhappy people sifting through these forums when they find out this weapon perk issue is only going to get worse as the Devs “fix” this issue. Keep changing the way players have understood the game to function for nearly a year, I am quite certain players both new and old will greatly appreciate the hard work you all put in to make perks work today only to go back to the drawing board later in the year…
It would be nice, but it would change A LOT more than what you think. I agree though, the end game should be making the weapon combination have synergy.
Hard to say that we will ever see “Ability States” like Berserk, Defiant Stance, and Void Blade have reciprocity with your secondary. Would be interesting, but they would have to start by allowing skill tree passives and passive procs to persist after weapon swap. S&S’s Recuperation used to offer a 10% health and during the Preview that health increase remained after weapon swap if I am not mistaken.
Alas, best to advocate for that which we have been accustomed to up until this point in regard to weapon perk reciprocity on armor and to allow that consistency to reflect when equipped on your weapon. This “bug pecking” mantra of late has been pretty short-sighted, and this is just another example of that.
We need this change reverted before live or this will be another thing that also drives people away (seems to be way so far with this game).

List of things that people actually like or dont hate (to make sure we change this, as this is not our way at AGS). This take priority over anything, or wven above game breaking bugs. (This would include this, gc nerf, 25 mut orbs limits and much much more)
They are micro managing things that ought not even be looked at, meanwhile the most pivotal, critically acclaimed point of content in Wars HAS YET TO BE TOUCHED. They had that goofy Spiderman Faction meme in March that made the defenders spawn in their fort… WOOOOO, that really saved the playerbase . I don’t know what is going on man, just one step forward two step back and with little COMMUNICATION. CRAZY!
