As a developer (albeit terrible) I would like to give some feedback to the team.
Lets start with the boring stuff. Your dev team will continue to have launch day bugs until you start branching the PTR from Live. Im not going to explain this, im sure every senior developer on your team knows this to be true.
Why do you think people log in to the PTR? What are they gaining by reporting bugs? Think about it… a player has 2 options upon finding a game breaking bug, report it and get nothing… or don’t report it, exploit it on patch day, create a youtube/tiktok video, and get rewarded both in and out of game. This is a very lopsided reward system. Game breaking bugs need a bug bounty reward. The bigger the bug/exploit the bigger the reward. Otherwise only bad actors are going to use your PTR to exploit your game.
punishing exploiters: On the flip side, when a bug is found, your team needs to go back to the PTR, look at all the saved data, and find players who abused this bug on PTR and on Live. They need to be banned from playing on the PTR unless they submitted a bug report. I also think they should be banned from Live servers, but i am biased.
You just had multiple people complete your battle pass in 10 hours. Wonder how many people figured this out on the PTR, said nothing and then exploited today on Live. Wonder how many of those users have a video they planned to publish tonight.
lastly, gear slots. I have been vocal on the forums about how much i hate inventory management in this game. And personally, I will not spend a single $ buying loadouts until your team fixes the multitude of issues that exist when it comes to storage organization. Otherwise the whole thing feels exploitive, bugs remain in the game around storage, while your team spends dev time on the features that earn you money. Obviously features that earn cash are going to be prioritized by your product owner, but you need to empathize with your playerbase which has been dealing with these bugs you introduced into the game.
inventory bugs im talking about: upon leaving any instanced content, your inventory is completely re-ordered. Also there is no way to sort blue/green tier V items for easy salvage. Moving locked gear between storage is trash.
Im not here to say “AGS you need to do better” I know everyone on the team is trying their hardest. I do however think some structural issues exist with how AGS is under-estimating exploiters, and under-rewarding bug reporters.
