[PTR] Casting ability after running either has a 1 second delay, or it doesn't cast at all. Major issue

I am posting this here because I want this to gain more visibility because it could potentially be a big issue with casting if the PTR build merges with live.


There are two classes of ability casting bugs right now in the PTR. I tested it with Fire Staff, Void Gauntlet, and Ice Gauntlet. Haven’t tested others because I don’t use them.

  1. The first issue is where there is a 1 second delay of you CASTING the ability, to it actually casting.
  2. The second issue is where you cast the ability, the game acknowledges your cast by flashing the ability icon, but it doesn’t cast at all.

First issue - casting delay while sprinting

There is a very weird lagging of ability cast if you cast an ability while running. It happens maybe 10% of the time. To reproduce this, try running, and cast an Ice Gauntlet, Fire Staff, or Void Gauntlet ability. 10-20% of the time, the ability takes .5-1 second slower to cast. It’s really disorienting because you never know if your ability is going to cast instantly, or delayed. This is not an issue on live.

To reproduce:

  1. Equip Void Gauntlet or Ice Gauntlet
  2. Run (or auto-run, doesn’t matter), and try to cast Petrifying Scream, for example
  3. 10-20% of the time, from you clicking the ability cast, to the ability actually casting, there’s a small but perceptible .5 second delay before the ability actually casts
  4. Run this experiment 10 times with Scream and you will get it at least 1-2 times.

In this clip, I was running, pressed Petrifying Scream, and you can see a noticeable delay of the game accepting my input, and the ability casting. You can even hear when I click it, to when it actually casts.

This delay thing seems to affect primarily the Void Gauntlet; I am able to reproduce this mostly with the VG.


Second issue - ability not casting at all while sprinting

Below are clips for the no-casting - where the game registers your input (and flashes the ability), but it doesn’t cast at all.

Impact

These seem like pretty severe issues where the game registers your ability cast input, but it either delays, or doesn’t cast at all. And it’s not consistent; it sometimes happens, sometimes doesn’t.
