[PTR] Dodging Doesn’t need fixed stop

Guys.

Listen. You’re doing too much.

Just clean up the recovery frames so that the dodge behaves the same way it does now with the animation cancels.

That’s it that’s what everyone wants.

The whole slip and slide thing that’s going on now.

No… god… please no.

Just clean up the recovery frames. That is allllll you have to do!

Or……
Better yet.

Leave it the heck alone. It’s fine. Don’t fix what isn’t broken.

What do you think they did? Animations are annoying to get right.

Please DEVs, leave dodge and animation canceling alone, just fix bugs.

Im glad the animation cancel is leaving. Thank you Devs!

So you want clunkier game play?

Saying dodging doesn’t need fixed is like saying to leave things like they are in live, whith the need to anim-cancel every dodge.

They are doing exactly that, removing the sprint delay and making the transition to movement after a roll fluid. The slide will be fixed, it’s a PTR. They will improve the animations.

They removed dodge recovery animation canceling? The one big plus for light armor? Oh lord… My playtime will drop again. From about 4hrs (which is my max) to 1.5hrs now and then to 0.5hrs probably. Just 4 daily gypsums or one OPR when changes are coming

But they just dont need to. WHO CARES if its there? The anti animation cancel crusade is a fools errand. I get some of it right. Like the machine gun light staff bug… or the insane swing speed of hatchet cancel. But the roll cancel? And the jump shot cancel… Thats just wasted dev cycles. Because the jump shot was like what… a 0.01 s improvement, and the roll cancel every single person with a brain can do it?

I just… idk man. Seems like wasted effort to me. But w/e. We will agree to disagree.

Medium armor is the only one that feels like it’s behind on smoothness. aside from medium armor needing a little more smoothness, it’s great in PTR… I tested it this morning. the “Slip and slide” is so miniscule. you wont fall off ledges if you’re even half decent at the game, I climbed mountains and edges to test this slip, and it’s not even an issue.

Except in PTR, now you wont have to animation cancel for dodges which is glorious. Feints are back which is huge for skill gaps…

I see Riposte users QQing already because vs good players, they will feint every time they even hear that riposte going off XD I can’t wait.

no, “animation cancel”, or whatever you call ist, is pure cancer. just remove it, im fine with every solution.

we have differences in opinion… leave it at that

Most of their solutions have made combat worse.

First of all: It couldn’t get any worse.

Which solution made combat worse?

Please test the PTR, it feels much better.

it feels same tbh, just dont gotta spam x anymore

I think your initial post is confusing tbh.
You wrote

So you want to remove the sprint delay? Because what would that mean otherwise?
If that’s the case, they did it in the PTR. It’ is also in the patch notes where they wrote We have shortened the length of recovery for all of our dodges They are clearly referring to the sprint delay here, in fact they continue with Dodging and entering into navigation should feel more fluid for all players now

then you wrote

well interpreted this as “so the dodge works without the sprint delay and the need to anim-cancel”

Then you added

Again, this means you want them to remove the sprint delay (unless with recovery frames you are referring to something else…)
Developers used that same word in the patch notes so I don’t really see what else you could mean with “recovery frames”

Now in your answer to me you say you want the anim-cancel to stay and you say “WHO CARES if its there”, so I can safely assume you want anim-cancel to stay, which is indeed confusing considering what you wrote before. So now you want the anim-cancel to stay but also you want them to “clean up the recovery frames”. That makes no sense, if there’s no sprint delay there’s no need to anim-cancel the dodge.
Anyway, you continue with:

and it’s not true. You can’t talk for everyone pal, me included. Plenty of people despise anim-cancel in general.
And I care, very much. Because beside the fact that the sprint delay shouldn’t have been even a thing imho, the need to anim-cancel it made the game less-fluid for some, not because it’s hard to do (I do it all the time) but because in case of some weapon like the bow, which I use, you can’t even begin to aim with the weapon sheathed, and in some cases you inevitably end a roll with the sheathed weapon.

You also mention the jump shot cancel as example, stating that

and this is absolutely incorrect. Jump canceling provided about 20% faster rate of fire, which is absurd. People have tested it (I have too). It was not intended and it had to be removed.

That’s all I have to say, not really trying to start a debate here, just felt like clearing some things up, you can obvioulsy have your reasons and whishes about it. Take care.

They removed the sprint delay, you don’t need to anim-cancel anymore. There’s no downside for it (unless you enjoyed spamming x after every dodge)

I thought they made it only shorter. I am not playing ptr.

They practically removed it. I don’t really feel any difference between a LIVE roll+X and PTR roll.

I’m actually really happy with the PTR so far. What YOU want is definitely not what EVERYONE wants. They cleaned up dodges and made weapon swapping a dream. prove me wrong lol Medium dodge still needs work though for sure
