I like the new look of both Monarch’s and Everfall. However, at the same time, the -new look- changes the reason why I invested my time into leveling up Everfall, and why my main house is in Everfall.
Question 1: What happens to houses when this goes live? Is there a refund on houses?
Question 2: Is there any possibility of territory standing refund?
Question 3: I was able to charm my wife into playing, and when she heard that the aesthetics of other cities -might- possibly change, she was concerned for Reekwater. It’s her favorite city, and she wants her first large house there.
… do you know if Reekwater is due for an overhaul?
I can only speak to my house in Everfall (the one right next to the Forge) but the interior footprint seemed really close if not identical. The exterior changed a bit.
Furniture should go into an overflow for people to redecorate.
I think they should offer 100% refunds for anyone who owned an EF/MB house prior to launch of the revamp. I’m not gonna miss that rickety wooden shack in a million billion years (I could only find one map in the entire game that I actually liked the houses (Ebonscale)), but for those not happy with the reskins, it would be really unfair if they couldn’t abandon without any financial penalty.
That said, I just couldn’t be more thrilled with the town revamps. What a breath of fresh air. The ambience of our existing cities has it’s charm and I wouldn’t want to see it completely obliterated, but each town should have a uniqueness to it.
I showed some before & after screenshots to a friend that doesn’t play NW (yet!) and my housing “Before and After” floored him. “WOW - Night and Day!”
I’m hoping they issue a refund for current houses in these towns. There are a lot of houses that have been completely changed. For example, this house in EF has a nice backyard and a view but in the PTR it doesn’t.
Why would you even want that? I can confidently say that there won’t be.
They said they were revamping the leveling experience from 1-25. However, they didn’t change Windsward’s Capital or even touch First Light. My guess would be that the next zones they change are First Light and Brightwood, maybe Weavers or Cutlass. Also, Reekwater has its own unique look already. Therefore, if any change were to come to Reekwater, considering EF and MB took a year, it would be a couple more years before they touched Reekwater.
Now in terms of current decoration in houses, the upcoming changes don’t seem to change the floor plan of the houses that much. But there are multiple changes to houses’ floorplans, walls, etc that would cause issues when updating the live servers. There are two main scenarios I can see happening:
All decorations are removed and put into the town’s storage shed.
Housing decorations are left as is and there are a significant amount of people with decorations clipping through walls, unable to be picked up, floating in space, etc.
My best guess is something close to option one will be used by the devs. I’m also hoping that, at least, they increase the amount refunded from abandoning houses in the towns that have been changed.
