Exactly. Melee players have two weapon slots like everyone else. If they want to catch ranged players, perhaps they should equip a RANGED weapon in one of those slots. But no, they want the double stuns and damage abilities of two melee weapons in close range while not having the obvious disadvantage that equipping two melee weapons SHOULD have - as if charge, the OP grav well etc. didn’t already provide more than enough options to chase down ranged.
Ranged are just easy kills for GA users in this game as far as AGS is concerned.

Bad ranged players are just easy kills for GA users in this game and AGS knows this.

Maybe we wouldn’t need to change stamina at all if we hadn’t just given every single light armor user access to a perk that gives a huge flat stamina recovery just for dodging, and then put that perk all over some easy to get pvp gear.
You know… that perk we told you would be broken af and make it so light users could dodge nearly indefinitely? The one we mentioned BEFORE it went live, when we tested it in the PTR and it was obviously broken? It starts with “Sh” and ends with “irking Energy”

Lol it’s not the fact that it just kills you… it’s the fact that it cc locks you and give you no chance to counter before it kills you. I usually play bow and spear in light armor, but I have read comments of people saying these one shot combos are challenging to land, so I decided to try a one shot combo sns bb on arena, and the amount of skill that goes into this is basically zero… it takes very little to get that first stun off and then you literally just click your abilities in a certain rotation and get an auto kill - if we want to see competitive pvp in new world easy combos like this cannot exist. Even the ice spike combo was harder to pull off, but needed an immediate change.The bottom line is that these builds give you too much for doing too little and it needs to change. I also did duels outside if we for a few hours yesterday on ptr and These builds are cheese, and people know it. The fact that some people feel good about getting kills this way is a little ridiculous to me. Just so you know, I am not calling for a nerf to a weapon, and I do not want to hurt another person’s game or build, I am simply saying that changes need to be made to stop combos like that from going live.

I think that the 300 str perk makes it so that a bow players cannot stand toe to toe with melee players. The unlimited grit gives melee players an almost unreasonable advantage. I did duels for a few hours on ptr yesterday, and I landed all of my shots on a heavy armor player using bow and spear other than vault in an exchange and the heavy armor player simply ate my shots, without doing anything skillful. They literally ran up and started swinging, but if they land one shot they do like 30% of my health and all of their stuns always work. That means I have to play perfectly against a melee and be extremely strategic with my attacks but they are able to simply swing at me to gain invulnerability from all short stun knock backs. I think that they should rework this ability to match or just get more in line with the 300 dex perk - instead of unlimited great on basics they should have a cool down of 3-5 seconds after they get hit with a stun that is ignored (dex is 10 seconds) but I’m not even calling for a 10 second, just add in some delay so that they cannot eat multiple knock backs in a row by simply swinging their axe. Or give them two chances within a 30 second window, and if they get hit with two stuns/knock backs within that window they have a 20 second cool down before they can use it again. Idk what the best method will be but I really think this should be looked at if we ever want to see truly competitive and professional pvp in new world, which I hope is where this all ends up.
You should not stand toe to toe with a melee player when your weapon doesn’t even have a block and can do damage from 100m away.

Spear has block. But honestly I think having full time grit and also and armor bonus and also heavy armor mitigation and also 14k hps while also putting out a ton of damage is a little OP. I mean they just nerfed heavy armor healers for pretty much the same reason.
You are right though… LA players can not stand toe to toe with a heavy armor melee. Thats why you see a lot of dodge rolls.
Landing shots with a bow at 100m away isn’t really realistic.

You are missing the point my friend. I didn’t lose the bout, and I was not talking about winning or losing in this scenario, I was simply saying that the unlimited grit at 300 str perk could probably be looked at if we want to see competitive pvp because the current set up gives player a bit too much for doing too little, and I think that is problematic for competitive pvp. On the stamina, I see why they nerfed it, and I am not completely opposed to the change, but I think that restricting movement hurts the game for everyone. Of course, giving players an easy out is not a great idea, and they are reworking the roots so maybe some change was needed to stamina. My opinion here is that AGS needs to review the change and either make a reduction to the 1 second delay, or my other idea on this was that they could just reduce the iframes from around 17- 20 to 12-15 iframes. I think if they removed the first 2 and the last two iframes, or just removed the last four or five iframes, but left the dodge the way it is it will make everyone happy, and simply increase the skill ceiling - which should be the goal! The reason why the dodge is op is not simply because of mobility, and I think having the ability to gain back to back to back iframes with no gap in between is what makes the dodge feel op. If they lower the iframes a bit then the timing will be more important on a dodge and back to back dodges will have a counter, so good players will be able to hit and kill dodge “spammers”. I am giving these ideas and staying active here because I really want to see a balanced new world and this is my favorite game. I do not want to simply nerf another class so that my class will be better, but I want them to truly balance the game so that competitive pvp will be a real thing in the game. Once this game is balanced and all of the kinks are ironed out I think we will see a mass influx of new and returning players, and the balancing and gameplay is the most important aspect.

In combat system IS also awful system : you are not allowed to gather pvp flagged anywhere on the map with your gathering skill SETS because if u get hit my someone or something YOU wont be able to defend your self by switching to your pvp gear for 20 sec in a ROW. THIS IS an abomination and break all dynamic in farming / combat or even in combat it self u cant go naked to run faster in order to chase or escape faster in the middle of a fight.
And yeah stamina stuff dont look apealing at all.
Dude if you think that grit is going to help you in pvp arena 3vs3 you are not a pvper for shure :DDDD.
Melle is pretty garbage and need high skill gap to kill range player so if u can give them just GRIT to be able to dodge stuff by auto attacking then let them breathe.
I pretty much only play pvp in the game, but I do not play bruiser or melee classes as much and simply run bow and spear, but I have played melee as well, but I was not simply referring to arenas - I was referring to competitive pvp as a whole. I really do not think it takes as much skill as you are saying to catch MOST ranged players. There is a reason most people switch and play melee classes - melee has a lot at their disposal. btw I don’t have a problem with grit, I was just saying that unlimited grit on all attacks is a bit overtuned. I could be wrong though, I have been wrong before and I am willing to change my opinion, but I have played a decent amount in game and even recently on ptr and I think melee has a lot of options at their disposal compared to like a dex build, but in all fairness bow feels night and day better now. So you do not think that melee builds have enough in their arsenal to beat ranged players without unlimited grit with all attacks?
“unlimited grit with all attacks” is not true and it’s not why melee guys are beating ranged players.
I’m tired of explaining grit to people.
Grit is only active when youre glowing white, during a portion of the attack phase, and the 300 str grit only applies to light and heavy attacks, which are not what is actually killing anyone in combat with a bruiser.
It doesn’t apply to skills, and some of them have it already and others do not, like Gavel which is the highest damage output on the hammer yet gets easily staggered. Only half of maelstrom has grit as well.
The only autoattack I get kills with as a bruiser, is the heavy attack, and both greataxe and hammer have grit on heavy attacks built in. Most of the kills come from gravwell and maelstrom and clipping people who are fleeing at low health with Path.
If they’re still standing after gravwell pops, they’re getting hit with a heavy autoattack which would have grit no matter if they had 300 STR or not.
300 STR isn’t killing you. Grit on autoattacks is not whats killing you.
Bad play that let a melee guy get close enough to even touch you, is whats killing you.
The game should not be balanced around people’s ideas who don’t even understand the mechanics, or who have 100 or less con and think they shouldn’t die to an axe thats all tall as they are.
Stop whining! Glad something is done to stop/slow down all the endless dodges in PvP. They were getting out of control. Thx
Its grit on attacks so it only effects melee combat and they nerfed things help fight ranged players.
