War is a big part of this game. But, any war effort needs more than just soldiers. The war needs crafters, cooks, resources, and more. When a War or Battle is lost and something gets downgraded inside of the town, especially at this time the server’s only Tier 5 station it can hurt the overall community pretty harshly.
During war events, I believe PvE players should be given special quests to ‘protect’ a building during war, such as increased supplies for the building’s fortification, to meet increased ‘war demand’ or water to help put out fires, etc.
A PvE player group should be able to save their town’s buildings, notably crafted buildings from getting destroyed.
If the PvP battle is lost and the city transfers over to another company, the building being saved, also transfers and benefits the new owners.
And for the people saying to do PVP, " ashkir" is not referring to the conflict process here but the war itself, remember that wars are limited to lvl 60 with a set amount of players on each side, so not every one can participate.
That as well! I’m not sixty yet, and it sucks for levelers when things get downgraded. Plus new quests would make the leveling experience matter more if it has an effect on saving their town. Heck there could even be ones to “undo” the saving of the tables.
Plus having some kind of influence, would get more people invested.
I’m not 60 either, so once the war is declared, i don’t even follow the events as it’s completely out of my hands at this stage, and feel completely unrelated.
I don’t see any downside to giving some “content” to people not “accepted” in the war, as the winner would get a better city too, so it’s a win for every one.
Maybe it’s saving just one building, so crafters can compete for the building of their choice.
I think defenses should still get downgraded as normal. But, crafter/refining buildings definitely deserve a chance.
I agree with your assessments and points. A lot of people are sat out of war, and a lot more aren’t 60.
Edit: This is also valid for invasions as well. I see a lot of things get downgraded and it is hard to tell if it is PvP or PvE. We should be able to safe a table in the invasions. some servers don’t have a lot of sixties to defend a town.
War does not downgrade buildings, as someone already mentioned.
Invasions lead to damage to the town (this being a pve activity), and we basically have a way to deal with this - we need to help townboards afterwards, and by carrying craft and trade to settlements, we can aid companies through the tax system to generate income to upgrade again/upgrade further, so in a way, what is asked for is already in place, just not during an invasion, but afterwards.
Hmm… but I must honestly say in that case, I prefer something downgrading. The other company may put considerable resources out of their own pocket into upgrading. I know at the moment, our company finances any upgrades through member donations. It’s an outlier settlement, higher level, and our faction is the under dog on the server. Invasions are costly too, we lost two station upgrades and have to put work and money back in, which for outlier settlements can be painful enough. At least if another faction swoops in, they will at least have to put some effort of their own back into the settlement.
And anything which gets downgraded, can be upgraded again. Not like it takes a month to return it to the lost tier, so there is player involvement all the way, just not with the war. However, if players worry about a war and possible negative downgrades to a settlement they enjoy, there is the option to run pvp missions to lower influence, something our company definitely wishes more would help out with <3
I think downgrades are fine tbh. If they weren’t there then that gameplay loop would be over too soon. The reason I dislike the current system is as you described, settlements that aren’t EF or WW usually pay out of pocket because they don’t get enough tax money. It’s a good system on paper but it doesn’t work on a large scale with servers so small and no reason to go to other settlements that aren’t the hub areas.
Plus you mentioned PvP influence and while I agree that is a solution. It’s boring and not a fun solution which I’ve been advocating changes for since last year and all throughout alpha, but the game is in no position to make such changes right now.
Downgrades are fine it’s just everything surrounding it is not.
Goodness tell me about it, lol, we own Mourningdale and receive no help with running counter pvp missions. My poor pixel legs are aching. Mourning has you chase over the map for ages, and with few of us trying to counter influence, it is getting a real chore -.-
honestly, who doesn’t “help” with townboards? everywhere I’ve been all the townboards are always complete and I get missions all the time as everyone else. Are there servers where townboards are NOT being acted on?
Our server is low pop, I think, and the outlier territories can struggle. Our company runs the townboards, and we do see occasionally others, but issue is also that less used settlements can struggle to generate enough income, so the company ends paying from member donations. In time I hope that players will begin to use all of the map/settlements more, so that we can get competition going via offering better taxes. I’d say that lies as a plan at the bottom of the mechanics.
The game now, and the game in months, when far more players have reached cap, should change a lot, and then there will also hopefully be far more high tier stations to choose from.
