Hello. I’m an mmorpg healer/tank main and I have some suggestions and feedback for New World.
Threat/aggro generation.
I don’t know the cause; maybe tanks have too few threat generation skills, maybe the threat generation system in general isn’t working, or maybe it’s player error. The bottom line is that every dungeon is unnecessarily messy. Threat is pulled randomly. Unnecessary stress is placed on the healer. Pve in general does not feel very fun right now.
Player collision.
I don’t know why player collision is a thing. Getting pushed, pulled, trapped. Caught in doorways, knocked off stairs, stuck in other players. Why? And why is it present in pve dungeons?
Player nameplates (war).
Why is my party the same color as the army members? Why do I have no indicators of my party members’ positions once they are out of my draw distance? I need to bring up my map every few seconds, and this can get me killed.
Party UI.
If a player is outside of my heal range, please gray their name. Guessing healing range, wasting mana/cooldowns feels so bad. Please.
Condense/compress chat box and allow custom chat colors.
“Raid” parties for more than 5 players.
This could be done by using the same design as war/army – multiple groups together – or by expanding the party player limit outside of dungeons. If I’m moving around with my company, green names are appreciated, but party UI is even better.
re. Threat/aggro generation. I’ve no idea your level or experience so ignore this if you know already, but someone else reading may not. There are gems for your armour that reduce threat somewhat. Admittedly aggro is still an issue so how much effect they have I couldn’t say
I would add PLEASE let us move the party list. Having it way up in the corner with no way to move it is 20 years out of date.
With the size of monitors these days having it there means either taking your eye off the action constantly or trying to do it with peripheral vision. Neither of these is comfortable.
Can I add also that Scroll target healing makes me want to … I don’t even know… First I can’t see my army party, then If I do I can’t imagine the scrolling oh the horror… It’s annoying with a five-man group, can’t imagine with 50. Like i’m okay not being able to single target heal the army in a war reliably, I kinda guess the design decision there, but damn, let me mouse over in 5man or something.
Tanks don’t get/keep agro because they are not using Carnelian Gems in weapons and don’t have the ‘Hated’ mod, this is a BIG problem for dungeon groups.
Also just equipping the life staff makes your agro radius busted, my friend who is a healer has stopped playing the game because:
1 - respecing your character is INSANELY expensive.
2 - life staff is boring when its the only weapon you can use because thats the only weapon that has your scaling.
3 - Life staff does super low damage in PvE
4 - he can’t use other weapons in PvE because 50% scaling using Amber gems is garbage and isn’t enough.
Threat is an issue because healers have a 1:1 threat ratio to healing and splash/aoe healing is a common part of heals. Add in collision/positioning and not having actual aoe attacks for the most part and you have issues in dungeons that often your tank won’t hit all the mobs, even one miss means lots of aggro for the healer on all mobs, but in particular any that were not in range for an attack or two.
Then consider the excessive stagger mechanic from mobs, every second your tank is unable to strike while Sacred Ground or Beacon is running is wracking up obscene hate
I’m only 31 so maybe it changes a lot at max level but with full focus my life staff damage is pretty good, definitely not ‘super low’. I have sword/shield as 2nd weapon and even with the 50% scaling once again it’s damage is more than enough to kill stuff.
level 30… you are so young!
At 50+, you will realize that your damage is so small that it takes 3-4 times longer to go to a solo location than any DPS and amber will not help you, it’s funny to me to read forum posts that healers OP.
Oh, yeah… forget about light armor - at least medium, but best of all heavy, otherwise you will treat yourself more often than the members of the group.
