To start off, I really enjoy this game. Infact I’ve been playing on and off since the alpha. This game still has some serious potential, even if the playerbase feels like its slowly declining.
Before I took a long break, a month or two after the game first came out, I used to enjoy PvP more than anything. It was the main selling point for this game for me. If I was skilled enough, I could fight on even grounds with just about anyone.
After coming back, about a month ago, I began my grind to max gear score. I was told by some friends that there was no real point to PvP until I hit around 600 GS. I thought they were wrong but after a week or so of constantly trying to prove them wrong, they were right. Theres no real point, and I think this is INCREDIBLY discouraging to new or returning players. Why bother playing one of the main aspects of the game, when you barely stand a chance against people who simply have better gear than you? You do little to no damage to even the lightest armored targets, and in return they kill you incredibly quickly. Why was this implemented? What playerbase are you catering to?
I hope these questions don’t come off as rude or toxic in any way, I just am at a loss to where the PvP scaling left, and why it was toned down. It helps no one other than the people who only wish to faceroll people trying to get to the point they currently already are, and thats at max gear score. It’s not even like I’m that far away, as currently even at 575 gear score, I still run into these exact same problems in PvP.
I feel like it’s entirely possible to scale peoples builds and gear to fit their playstyle, without letting higher geared players just do a flat %more damage TO you and take a flat %less damage FROM you.
I will continue to try and grind for what feels like hundreds and hundreds of hours, but the very fact that I have to do this just to be at an even and equal playing field with the other players that I seem to be running into in OPR and Arena, is again very discouraging. I’m sure without a doubt this is the case for many new or returning players too, maybe eluding to yet another reason people seem to be leaving the game for others.
I genuinely enjoy this game, but please, reconsider or atleast greatly tune up PvP scaling. I believe it to be hurting the game far more than helping it.
