PVP chat is ruining the game

Pvp is fun. When balanced. We know this is true, because games like Call of Duty are making 1.4 Billion Dollars per year. All the players do is run in circles killing each other. So it must be worthwhile. Enjoyable.

In World of Warcraft, pvp is also fun you get to run around on maps fighting each other and in arena type fights. It is obviously an enjoyable game… but… whilst this is also similar to New World pvp… there is one major difference. Pvp players in different factions cannot speak to each other.
The Toxic anger at being ganked, cannot be translated to your enemy payers.

In Wow… the first word we learned translated from other factions was KeK which is the translation of LoL. Kek is now a universal term meaning lol… we actually have an alternative for Laughing Out Loud… besides LOL…

Global chat in New World must go through a similar filter… every day on either of the servers I am on, all I see in global chat is X player f’ing ganked me, they running in groups killing solo pvp players… add swearing and insults. Then maybe 10minutes later… the previous ganked player is now in their own group… ganking the other sides solo players… laughing about their deeds in global chat and their victims, who were previously their preditors… are the ones swearing in chat and generally being disruptive and this transaction of translation of anger and bile, this “toxic” transferrance… is giving pvp a bad name. People don’t want to be associated with the Toxic Pvp chat…

There’s a whole range of other reasons why PVP ruins games with Pve in them and that PvP games… esp mmorpg type games always fail… Pve games last for years, decades. Pvp games last for months… at best. Unless they are on dedicated systems and balanced. Like Call of Duty or Battlefield… or several others.

I understand why some people demand full on full loot pvp for New World… but it won’t work. All it will do is see reducing player retention over time, until there’s literally a handful of pvp enabled players running around getting their bonus 10% xp… for the most part running around their own faction sides doing Pve… stuff.

One way of removing the core issue here, is Filter Global Chat… or simply remove it. Disable what is essentially a vocal toxic chat or trader chat from the game at the same time… allow only Faction based Help and Recruitment. Maybe Local Area only Mixed Faction Chat…

Toxic gameplay ruins games. Phrases like Git Gud, Snowflake, etc… all they actually do is reduce server numbers. Which means Pvpers have less people to fight with. It is counter productive…

Yes you could filter out various words… and then filter out the attempts to bypass those now banned word, then filter out the attempts to bypass the bypassed words…

But it would be simpler just to remove the ability for factions to talk to each other. Completely.

So taking the League solution?

What a joke and troll, you can mute the global in the chat settings. Why do people have to live with the changes you want if you dislike sth like the global chat? Hmmm.

Why should people have to disable global chat because of a tiny minority of players?
Yes I am advocating exactly that. The problem is, I can disable global chat… but it doesn’t stop someone else, paraphrasing what they read in global chat into my factions chat… it doesn’t stop me from having to listen to someone ranting and raving about something I am not reading.

I could also mute or block the players concerned… but the issue isn’t really what those players are saying to each other but the overall issue of allowing toxic “banter” and the effect it has on the global community. Whilst I can fix the ME issues… I cannot fix the everyone else issues.

Therefore my suggestion is just remove it. And my examples are my reasons for doing so.

What a snowflake post. Go get a body pillow.

Has there ever been any actual evidence of a game’s chat reducing it’s playerbase? Don’t get your feelings mixed up with reality.

Besides my leaving a server that has become too toxic… besides seeing posts and threads in private forums and steam and here saying exactly the same thing… besides the fact that the vast majority of missing players on my original server… are all pvp players… many of whom complained in faction chat of the toxic drivel of the other side… maybe. I dunno, just giving feedback and making a suggestion.

As to hmlucky27 is it really necessary to throw around petty insults or does this make you feel more like a man, then the child you obviously are?

Wait… you server has a global chat? All I see on mine is the odd tumble weed blow past every hour.

I will concede that an infinitesimal percentage of players are hypersensitive to the point that they will stop playing because someone else playing the game said something that they didn’t like, but advocating silencing and severing of communications lines is just a hostile knee-jerk reaction that hurts the majority of players who enjoy those lines of communications. Thats my feedback.

Mmm so fragile
