Other huge groups will compete against each other for those resources. Besides, how is that any different than now? Have you looked at the market recently. Something akin to a dark zone in the divsion where you have to extract the mats would be interesting.
One of the problems we observed with this system was that some high level players were killing low level players, A LOT. Sometimes exclusively. This often led to solo or group griefing scenarios that created a toxic environment for many players. To be clear, this behavior was not shown by all PvP players, but enough to cause significant issues.
We set out to build a compelling world full of danger and opportunity that begs to be explored. The intended design was never to allow a small group of players to bully other players. Based on what we saw, we realized that we needed to make fundamental changes and not just incremental fixes, (which we tried several times during the Closed Alpha).
There has been speculation that we have moved away from PvP, this isn’t the case at all. PvP is important to us and we are committed to ensuring it plays a significant role in our game. To be specific, by PvP we mean, fair fights that are organized, skill based, and opted into by all participants. Not PKing (Player Killing), which is a predatory behavior that relies on exploiting another player’s lack of experience, progress, readiness, or willingness. So for those folks who desire that harsh PVP environment, New World may not be your favorite game, however, we do hope you enjoy the PVP we will offer. We are unlikely to provide PVP-only servers as it would divide our development resources and community
This might be it.
Look. The entire point is to give ppl a reason more to flag.
Just my opinion.
There is no risk for PvP and there is pretty much no reward as well making it useless to be flagged so even if you come with the “it’s fun” argument it gets boring after a while. There are no penalties for dying and litle to no benefit from killing. I think both are wrong, PvP should be high risk high reward. Dying should punish you and killing others should reward you. Yeah i don’t have any suggestions because high rewards for PvP is exploitable but there is no other way people will flag consistently if they gain nothing from it. “Fun” is not sustainable without rewards and should be balanced with penalties for failing, i.e dying.
How? Node spawns are not shared. There would be little incentive to run in large groups.
That was completely toxic and uncalled for.
Well done.
That’s the point though, that’s why I’m here at least. Mass PvP in open world with 2 or al lthe factions clashing is super exciting!
I’m 100% for PvP only zones with higher resources and drop rates.
Basically dark zone from Division. You have to get to an outpost to not drop your loot. If your killed say X% of what you found can be dropped for the killer to pick up.
So much on your seat PvP.
can’t you guys come up with something that isn’t forced pvp? resource walling behind pvp, is forced pvp.
they need to come up with pvp-only tagged gear, that can be made, and only pvper can harvest while flagged and make in say one of the northern areas. that doesn’t resource lock anything from pve and gives an incentive to pvp to work together to harvest and make items, special only to them. oh and lock the gear to only be able to be worn while flagged.
Just give me a zone with auto-flag, leaderboard, resources for PvP specific gear, gold and maybe limited time cosmetics and titles for performing well. Throw in a world boss that spawns at specific times that factions can contest.
that was pretty much 2 years ago now, blame those who ruined the game for the rest of us, they are why we can’t have nice things… and no it wasn’t the pve players, it was ganking pvpers. now the game is majority pve due to those asshats, forcing more shit is soo, helpful at this point.
all of which require PVP and territory control for the stations to be upgraded lol… sorry bud, its a pvp based game.
There isnt a full loot System. I love the idea. And i loved that in Albion Online, which does have a full loot system.
Doesnt even have to be boosted rates or specials nodes or anything. Just zones with pvp only where ppl fight for nodes is fine too. Just regular nodes wouldn’t be worth it for Companies to zerg for some iron nodes lol, but would still be fun to fight for with small groups
You say it worked? Did you see the footage of 10 level 60 players camping the TUTORIAL AREA on alpha and corpse camping the new level 1s that joined the game?
Yes, they did it. They camped level 1 characters with gray gear in the tutorial area, 1 second after these people started the game.
What you 3heads can’t understand is that your theory about PvP doesn’t work in practice.
Your theory: oMg pVp iS GrEaT We wILL hAvE epIc BatTlEs FoR rESouRcES
Reality: 100 idiots will be zerging around in droves ganking everyone on the way 100v1 and camping the entrance to the pvp zones. Because of this everyone will go the dominant faction and it will create mono-faction servers with no actual pvp and only discord mafias that will rule the entire server’s economy.
I personally experienced this 10 times in many different games and many different environments. Devilsaur mafia in ungoro crater, hello.
or maybe if you flagged for pvp you will have a % chance to get a rare material on a lvl 60 zone where non flagged player wont have a chance to acquire one?
Thats why I believe you need something like I suggested. Like Dark Zone. Have a very specific area, where it is expected and players go in, knowing, it’s high risk vs reward. Even Albion Online has areas like that.
Albion online did it right.
Low zones are permanently safe, black zones are full loot PvP.
I dont like full loot PvP.
But we should have permanent safe zones and permanently open PvP zones; and yes the resources should scale according to difficulty
I was in Team Casualty in Albion online, google it
You are comparing apples and oranges.

Albion online was NOT a faction based game. You could attack anyone as long as he wasn’t in your guild/alliance. NW is a faction based game. Walling highend resources behind PvP will cause one faction to go brrr and dominate a server. I 100% know what I’m talking about, been there, seen it.
-
Albion online’s northern continent had 60+ small zones with 4 entrances each, connecting every one to another. So “sometimes”(see the 3rd point below) solo players, casuals and adventurous potatoes could sneak in to a zone, gather some resources and sneak out from a territory. NW doesn’t have this. If you add 2-3 pvp zones all the entrances will be camped 24/7 by big guilds.

Despite first 2 points I just made, even in Albion, what I said happened. We WERE the mafia and we still monopolized the entire server. During my time, if you weren’t a member of either TC, OOPS or ARCH you simply couldn’t get to see the northern zones.
There were thousands of QQ threads on the forums the first month the game was released. Then most casual players quit the game. 2-3 guilds dominated the entire northern continent, we ganked everyone who stepped into our territories. Then QQ got so high, the developers changed the game. They made it so that unless a player dismounted from his mount (you had to dismount to fight or gather) there was almost no way to stop them. You could simply run at 300% speed on your mount against 100 enemies that were trying to catch you but couldn’t because they have to dismount to attack you.
Albion online forums were exploding with QQ posts from both sides. Hardcore gankers couldn’t gank anyone anymore, they started quitting, then casuals mostly have quit anyways so most of them didn’t return.
If you want to kill NW in one week and make it lose 95% of its playerbase your suggestion is a great one. Also the remaining 5% will all be on the same faction and shittalk each other on discord instead of PvPing all day everyday.
I don’t either, but as long as it’s just what we tried to get out of the area, like Dark Zone, it’s perfect balance.
This defeats the whole purpose of territories. Again players have the option to flag or not, this is a non issue other than needing open PvP zones.
