These are the different approaches being discussed
A flagged player can opt-out of pvp without unflagging, by asking to be left alone, people who don’t comply are griefing and are subject to a ban.
vs
A flagged player’s only way to opt-out of pvp is by unflagging, any attacks and frequency of attacks are valid, no conditions are required.
You think 1 is correct. No one has to agree with you. AGS can clarify, but to me (and the obvious majority that interacted here), the way the NW was built is indication enough that 2 is the intent of AGS:
The flagging/unflagging should be evidence enough
The warning you get when you flag
The warning you get when the timer starts
The safe zones
The pvp kill quests
The factions dispute
All that is clear evidence that 2 is the intent of the game design. You don’t provide any evidence or source to sustain your argument.
I would love to get AGS clarification since if 2 is correct, you are in violation by reporting instead of unflagging.
Edit: That is not the same as saying people cannot be nice and give someone a pass in different circumstances. There are situations where this might be decent and good, but no one need to agree and are obliged to give any pvp flagged player a pass.
Edit2: A pvp flagged player gathering resources would NEVER EVER be the right circumstance to give anyone a pass from getting killed. You reporting people killing you while gathering resources while flagged is a clear abuse of the report system, to have the pvp bonus without the engagement.
The way i see it, you are abusing in game mechanics to further your gain. You want the PVP buff without the fact of PVP. It doesn’t matter if someone kills you 100 times. If you have PVP on, you are a valid target.
I understand that you disagree with that logic, but you going in circles isn’t proving anything then you being a troll. The system is simple. If you want to PVP you turn PVP on. If you don’t want to PVP, turn it off.
There isn’t a “hidden rule” that if you kill someone 10 times that it’s harassment. You are abusing a system not for you, and complaining when people are doing the correct actions.
You crying wolf and reporting people for harassment when you could unflag, but don’t want to because you’ll lose the luck buff, is utter garbage and people like you should be banned. Period.
The flagging system is a choice. No one forced you to turn it on. No one twisted your arm. You are the one to CHOOSE to flag. You have no rights to complain about dying once or 100 times once it’s on.
You are welcome to continue to believe that what you are saying to be true, but that does not mean anyone has to agree with you. Likewise, if folks do not agree with you, that does not make them Trolls.
Trolling is when someone makes a deliberatively provocative comment or post and waits for people to take the bait. Therefore, if anything, the fact that you have kept putting the exact same comment, exactly the same way is bait for others, like myself to respond (whether you accept what I have to say or not is not relevant). So, really, you are actually the one Trolling here, everyone else has just been replying in kind to share their opinions with you.
I honestly hated this change. When I am harvesting/chest running, I am pretty focused on that task. If you flag for these activities you will be at a disadvantage due to not initiating the fight (and probably wearing harvest gear). You become content for some other player(s) (AG wanted more PvP for PvP players so they could have fun their way).
That being said, if you flag for PvP (for any reason) you are fair game for PvP no matter what activity you are doing.
I hope you are a mature person, and take the next example. Imagine your country is in war with another one, and you go to the enemy teritory, with visible combat outfit, to…pick flowers, or kill a boar. What you think the enemy would do, if you ask them nicely to leave you in peace? You will call for reinforcements, or take with you some other people, or call human rights organisation, to judge them for harassment?
All i will say is pvp bonus creates toxic and bullying environment to thrive, and its not healthy for the game, sniping and dragging mobs into players who dont want to fight (thats not fun, and shouldnt be encouraged, should be something that punishes players doing it). Also there shouldnt be a bonus to begin with, at least not luck and harvest. Anyone who dont have the bonus feels left out, (and yes people will say just turn of pvp) but thats not an option when the benefit is too good
It isn’t that people don’t want to PVP. They just don’t want to solve a jump puzzle to kill some guy who snuck through a zone that is intended for groups, climbed a janky mountain, and finishes down players.
With the tent system, they can be back in an instant and sneak back onto their mountain way off in the distance to keep griefing.
Nobody is out here saying getting outclassed in myrk in a fight, or out zerged is the problem. Those fights are fun. The specific issue is the use of the musket and terrain, by players who are often playing solo or duo, in an area where they are not doing, and cannot do the content as intended by the devs. (see devs adding muskets and such to stop solo players sneaking around to open chests)
If you are flagged and i kill you i get tokens for my faction. If i have the PVP mission and i collect 5 tokens i turn them in and push influence. it is a game mechanic. If you dont want to die turn PVP off. AGS already responded to this and pretty much said the samething. Having the option to to unflag grants consent. so you reporting for being killed while PvP flagged is wasting peoples time and you should be punished for it.
They implemented the bonus to encourage 60’s to flag and pvp in open world since that was the intent of the game. So if you want the reward take the risk otherwise stop complaining. Go play farmville if you dont want to die. Griefing would be sitting at your camp and killing you as soon as you respawn. I doubt this is happening
All I will say is that I and many people disagree, the pvP bonus improved PvP action a lot.
Pvp in NW is super light, you lose close to nothing by getting killed. If even PvP on NW is aggravating for some, if they get frustrated and angry for getting killing while gathering or doing other stuff, they should just not flag and use the gather gear without worries.
People who flag have the choice between maximum bonus with the PVP flag + gathering gear, but high risk of getting rekt. Their choice.
At some point… they are going to put out PVE servers and its going to be an absolute snooze fest. The only PVP will be OPR and War, the rest would be flagless playing and mindless grinding.
They do not have to go play farmville, they can simply toggle the PVP flag to off and continue doing exactly what they are doing without the Risk of being Harassed (The Battle Strategy and as was mentioned, add tokens to their faction (although not in all zones)).
