First off, the original scaling wasn’t working ‘as intended’, though who knows since AGS doesn’t seem precise, especially in its explanations.
So when I first read that in the proposed patch I wasn’t really sure what they actual intend, plus how does that work for AOE, etc… I would guess they do the normal calculation and then adjust… since it is the easiest way to do some form of normalization but eh… it will work however it works, lol. I prefer to not have to worry to much about gear, as in gs, so I hope it does a good job so that I only have to worry about what perks I have… but I doubt it.
And something I have never had a clear answer on, in war is there scaling or no scaling?
Plot twist: Armor rating has never been part of the PVP damage calculation formula.
Since launch a 600 GS armor does mitigate as much as 100 GS armor, given they are in the same weight category. A 100 GS heavy piece mitigates more damage than a 600 GS medium piece.
Are you serious?
It’s not a job, it never will be.
It’s a worthless game.
You just play it, and just because you have nothing better to do with your life than freeze in front of a PC for hours on end doesn’t mean you get any advantage over anyone else gearwise.
You gain experience and IF you’re good you leverage that to win, if not then you’re just bad.
Even if they scale your armor, if anything that rises the skill in PvP, because you won’t get carried by your full 600 Legendary gear anymore. You actually have to care about your movement, your timing of skills and so on, because you need to do it right to win. Not like now hit someone with a legendary 600 warhammer and win by default. Games that scale with the enemy are way more fair overall.
90% of these posts are people saying “Good a person in 600 gear shouldn’t be able to stomp a guy in 500 gear they should be scaled down”.
They currently ARE scaled down. 600 gearscore heavy chest piece has the same defense as a 100 gearscore heavy chest piece. Only stats and weapon/armor perks aren’t scaled and stay as they are.
A person in voidbent doesn’t have more defense then a person in faction gear. They actually have less, as voidbent is heavy elemental and weak on physical, a melee 1v1 a fresh 60 in faction gear has higher physical protection then a 2month lvl 60 veteran in voidbent.
People complaining voidbent players are so much stronger, are just wrong. They aren’t and have the same def as you, more then likely less physical protection though as very few people prefer elemental heavy resistances.
Test it yourself, attack your full voidbent friend and see yourself doing 800 damage a hit. Make them put on all 100 gearscore heavy armour and you will still do 800 a hit, maybe up a little bit more due to them losing so much Con and missing out on defensive perks.
Funny because me as a brand new lvl 60 with loot Armour had a disadvantage to my buddy who has 600hrs in the game and 600gs. Time does give you an advantage if the best loot is locked behind a grind.
There is so much misinformation in this post it’s not even funny. Devs really need to make a post to clear it up.
OP IS WRONG. GEAR SCORE WAS BROKEN ALREADY. 1.2 FIXES IT! 1.2 DOES NOT MAKE GS IRRELEVANT, IT MAKES IT RELEVANT!
Currently today, someone in GS 490 has better protection than someone in GS 600 in PvP, that’s a well known and tested fact. With 1.2 they are fixing it so that someone in GS 600 has the advantage.
Other than an extra perk on 600gs items, there will be no noticeable difference.
So long as you have 520gs faction gear, until you have ideal perk 600gs gear there will be 0 penalty. In essence they not only removed the grind for PvP relevance but actually made everything in-between 520gs gear and perk perfect 600 gear irrelevant.
imo, the only people that want gear to matter in pvp are those who like curb-stomping other players. Then turn around and say how good they are at pvp.
Now that’s not to say gear setups (aka “builds”) shouldn’t matter.
But having a “glass cannon” that tanks because the gear is so much better (higher GS) than the opponent is BS.
Equal gear level decreasing skill … what are you talking about?
Equal gear leaves room ONLY for skill.
Yes guilds should lose lands if someone with 20 hours outplays you.
What you really want with this post is to say that because you and others nolifed hundreds of hours in this game you should have a safety net over players that didn’t.
It’s quite pathetic.
Imagine spending hundreds of hours on an activity and getting schooled by someone that just picked it up.
You’re a joke and I hope you and everyone else that thinks like you quits.
Good riddance and don’t let the door hit you on your way out.
You won’t be missed.
