What does that have to do with anything I said or responded to? You said new players getting 600 gear would downgrade to 500. That isn’t true. It would downgrade to 550.
And how is New World doing now ?
Almost all servers are dead, EU has 2 populated servers, and the server cap is not that high, and they manage to get 1 Outpost Rush (PvP) going, noone is going to return to this game for PvP and say "yey, now i have to grind a ton of pve and hope i get expertise for my weapons, or endure months of boring pvp beacuse your useless against everyone geared.
before i quit i did well in pvp, because my Musket headshots were juicy, now they barely scratch anyone
Um no, it would be 500 to a fresh player if they haven’t touched anything to increase expertise. I am one such individual who went from 600 to 500 when that patch hit. So unless something changed very very recently, then this is the case.
I didn’t say the system was good. I think the entire expertise system is garbage and always have. I was correcting you on your misinformation. That is all.
Months of being useless in Outpost Rush is not pvp
The game is dead, servers lag, and now i have to be bored for 4 months in OPR, or grind pve for weeks, so i’ll just uninstall again and check back in another year, 2 days i was back, which is going to be the case for any new or returning pvp player, and you all proved it in your excuses to the expertise nerf on pvp players, thankyou.
Its been that way since the change in January. If that is not the case then it is a bug.
From the blog:
Ok you obviously have reading comprehension problems. Have a nice day.
Well I’m eff’d then cus when I logged in last it is still at 500 with a full 600 set on. I can’t even get a response to my other 3 tickets I submitted over the course of several months. Submitting one about this will be about as effective as putting an ejection seat in a helicopter.
Its possibly just a display bug.
100% salvage. It provides repair token…nothing else.
50 boxes, all trash.
OPR should be open to everyone since level 15-20 or whenever the first set of faction gear is available.
Then, while in OPR, everyone under 60 should have their gear upscaled to at least 550 GS or so (so that it gives mitigation, stats, and bonuses equivalent to 550 GS stuff). That way they would have at least a chance at doing dealing some damage and surviving some hits.
Still, players with epic and legendary gear would have perks on their gear, whose effects are huge compared to just stats and mitigation. So it’s not like all your grinding is nullified or anything.
That way, new and returning players can have a proper team PvP game (instead of being massacred in open world PvP by zergs), start getting XP, gold, tokens, and umbral already back from level 15-20, without having to grind for 60 levels of PvE to even have a chance to play.
And by the time they reach level 60, they would have lots of gypsum and umbral to get a good kickstart on bumping expertise rightaway, instead of having a dreading 2-3 months ahead of them of expertise grinding.
Other games with both PvE and PvP focus, like LOTRO, do exactly this. In the case of LOTRO, everyone is scaled to level cap in PvP. You can join the PvP modes from the start, even at low levels, and you (your attributes) and your gear will be upscaled to level cap, which is awesome. Because not only it lets you play with the big kids, but it serves as a sneak peek of how you will be when you are at level cap.
In other modes, like the equivalent of invasions, all players are scaled to level 100 (players under 100 are upscaled, players over 100 are downscaled), so everyone has a chance at playing the big PvE events from the start, instead of having to wait for months to do the fun stuff everyone is talking about.
AGS has the tech already developed to do all this with the snap of a finger. They designed their gear system with the ability to upscale or downscale as needed. And their damage formulas upscale or downscale disparate players. They just need to want to do it.
You are playing an MMO, PvE is a part of the game thats it.
I guess you are “new” to MMO and never played a single minut on Korean MMO …
" Skiping PvE "

It does since topic point comes from bad informed player who lacks game knowledge and because of that massively exaggerates.
No, you don’t need to do endless PvE grind to 600 and then another endless PvE grind to 625 to do damage. First of all, that grind isn’t endless, its actually pretty fast and you can do ot even throught PvP/crafting.
Second of all, you don’t need 625 to do dmg or not to get two-shotted in PvP because the actual difference between 545 and 625 player is something which you can overcome by simply being better player.
Its not WoW where geared people are doing 4 times more damage than people with low gear while having 2-3 times more HP.
Ironocally as a pve player ive actually gotten several decent pieces out of opr boxes. Where portal caches have been crap. Other than named drops i have only gotten 1 usable item out of dozens of expeditions.
Randomness of loot in general is frustrating.
Most games ive played dont offer ability modifiers like perks on randomized gear. They use set bonuses on names gear. Randomized gear is usually stat sticks.
I really believe the one biggest qol change they could make is to have a very synergistic logical randomization process.
Roll the attribute affix randomly…restrict the pool of perks removing perks for abilities that dont use at least one attribute…roll rarity…roll perks honoring affix restrictions.
This would makes alot more usable and optimized items.
start by removing tuning orbs.
How is what I said “false” if it’s explicitly stated in AGS’s vision for PvP? And you can grind gear through PvP in NW.
It sounds to me, like you actually prefer FPSs or MOBAs or something rather than MMOs, so you wanna make MMOs more like those games.
No you can not
No.
A fresh 60 can buy 600GS equipment and, with 500 expertise, it will be downgraded to 550 Effective GS. A piece of gear’s Effective Gear Score is the midpoint between its actual GS and the player’s expertise for that slot.
Why do you need to be competitive in a week and not in a month as a casual player? I kinda miss how they disrespect players by gear/umbral shard progression. They should balance the game around players who play the game 5 hours a week?
Why people always want instant gratification in MMOs, thats beyond me.
